Those bloody free bus passes little sods go on tour.
Aberdeen gets them coming up from Dundee causing mayhem in the city centre.
Bus passengers and staff abused and threatened .
Female drivers being told they'll be raped.

I was driving through London last weekend along Park Lane. There were dozens of boys on electric bikes in the bus lane. At first I thought it must be some sort of event, then they started doing wheelies in and out and round the cars. One was actually standing on the handlebars, weaving in and out of the traffic. They went through the red lights, straight over pedestrian crossings that were crowded with families, small children, elderly people. They then went left towards Oxford Street and I was going right so lost sight of them. I understand this is a craze now.
I hardly ever drive anywhere these days, especially not through London, but didn't have an option on this occasion.
It was very intimidating, not to mention dangerous.

OP, you're not helping your cause by being incredibly unclear and then rude to people who don't understand what you're trying to say.

It’s not only women there was a week of what seemed like targeted attacks on Chinese or Asian people in the city which is deplorable. The young woman who publicised it, as she should was terrified.
It does not seem to be women only though and it happens every year at the fringe in one way or another it’s not huge amounts of ASB but it is some. If you look back over the years it’s always been the same. One year drag artists other years, different demographics. It’s absolutely not caused by the free bus passes, I lived in Edinburgh in the 90s and it happened then, maybe worse as tolerance was much lower then for the wonderful crazy the fringe brings.
it needs to be dealt with but I also think social media makes it look like there is a lot more than there is. Teenagers are not feral in Edinburgh as a general rule but there are groups like in any city in the UK who target abuse and are downright nasty.

The original post implies this is happening to women all over the country, it seems it's men and women in Edinburgh mainly by one group of kids. They need to be caught but it seems to be an isolated thing not a nationwide problem.

I live and work in Edinburgh. There are certainly areas I wouldn't go on my own or with my kids at night, and I get a bit wary of large groups of teens on the bus or at the bus stop... but thankfully nothing has happened to me or my kids (yet?). I live near Niddrie and was caught up in the bonfire night madness a couple years ago (with my then 8 year old son who is still very anxious about it). Reported all that to Ian Murray and all the local councillors and had a host of helpful emails back with how they were addressing it. No issues at all last year.

I think I've gotten a bit used to the hordes of e-bike boys in balaclavas so they don't even register anymore. Thankfully they've never bothered me directly.

I do still drive my daughter home from dance class if she finishes after 8pm though - at almost 14 she should be old enough to walk herself the 10-15 mins home but I don't feel 100% comfortable with her walking past the park and cemetery at night as there are sometimes groups of boys congregating.

Being rude and swearing at posters asking for more info isnt doing anything to help your cause

Same in Epsom, a relatively small market town. Gangs of masked kids on e bikes are intimidating people.

Clearly it is a serious issue and needs addressing however I and others did not see the report of the woman getting punched.
It appears it is not as well documented as you think as the posters saying they hadn't seen that news are local to Edinburgh.

Nothing like this going on in my neck of the woods thankfully.

I fell over in public recently and it was a group of teenagers who came to my rescue. They were very kind.

I agree any behaviour such as that linked to should be reported.

Ahhh, apologies! I did see another thread on Reddit, I'll see if I can find it.

It sounded, from the op's posts, that there were loads of big gangs of teenagers roaming around and attacking strangers.

Going by that reddit thread (and the links on the thread and then links on that thread etc) there seem to be the same small group of 3 or 4 obnoxious yobs causing a lot of trouble. They definitely need to be reported, caught and dealt with but it's not quite the same situation as implied in the first post on this thread.

Can you share a link please? I live in Edinburgh not far from the centre and haven't heard of any such issues.

Honestly, it is terrible. Gangs of teenagers head to toe in black often with their faces covered. I've seen them in town doing it (shouting at people, throwing food and drinks) and I work from home so am very rarely in town. I've also seen them on bikes in our (relatively 'nice') area. I drove DD home from sport one night around 10pm and they surrounded the car. I had to drive around the block and park elsewhere as they would have surrounded us again had we gotten out, it was pretty scary.

The online reporting form is a good idea, but the police do not act on any of these incidents with teenagers (even when a friends child was assaulted and injured by teens in school uniform caught on shop CCTV they said they wouldn't act).

Police are so under resourced that unless it is a domestic, murder, serious assault, serious drugs or sexual offences they just don't bother and with teens there are no consequences anymore so not worth wasting their time investigating.

With no consequences for teens committing all but the most serious crime and with no resources for youth clubs and services nothing is likely to change anytime soon unfortunately. I am sorry for your experience and will fill out the form the next time something happens.

Daughter in Edinburgh has heard nothing about this. Nor her boyfriend or friends. Also just checked with elderly relatives who live there and they said this is nonsense.
