Was I wrong to refuse DP a lift meaning he had a £90 taxi?

DP got the train to a nearby city with friends yesterday (a day drinking basically).

He was expecting to get the last train back at 10.30pm. Shortly after this, he called me to say he’d been told to leave the platform by the police. Reason being that he thought it would be a good idea to try to wind up his friends getting a train on the opposite platform by dropping his shorts/boxers and bending over in their direction. This was spotted by police who told him to leave the station or he’d be arrested.

I told him no. It was late, a 45 minute drive each way including the motorway. He got a taxi but is off with me as it cost £90 and he said he’d have picked me up in the same circumstances.

We help each other with lifts usually, have a good relationship and no issues etc.

Was I wrong to have refused?

He is a rando to you - not a husband, so he has fuck-all obligations to you, consequently, you have no obligations towards him. You were absolutely right.

Well this is an odd post. Who calls someone’s partner a random unless they are married,

I wouldn't pick him up, it would serve him right for such stupid behaviour. It will perhaps make him think twice next time.

Something a cancelled train, or an accident and it would of course be a completely different story.

Does he have form for stuff like this? Mooning his mates in a busy train station after a day on the piss. He sounds 18 :(

I wouldn't have picked him up and I'd be considering whether he was really the one for me..

He would be more vulnerable wandering around for 45 minutes waiting for you to get there than getting straight in a taxi.

What kind of loser exposes himself on a busy platform ? I’ve no issue with getting drunk and think everyone deserves a night out and have some fun, as long as it’s not all tne time, but I draw the line at exposing himself

I’d not only make him get a taxi I’d have the proper ick.

It sounds like a stupid mistake. I’d of just gone and collected my husband. If he had form for such stupid behaviour though I’d of left him on the platform.

I'd have picked him up if his last train was cancelled but would have definitely left him to sort himself out in those circumstances!

If that was purely his money then I'd let him get a taxi. If you share money, I'd go to get him and yell at him for the 45 minute return journey!

Christ, who can be bothered to yell for 45 minutes at nearly midnight. I’d have done as OP did and stayed comfortable in my bed and let him learn an expensive lesson

Yes, my point was that he was not vulnerable. A busy station with a taxi rank outside so he got in one as soon as we’d finished talking.

If you picked him up then he has no consequences and would probably do it again. You would be enabling stupid behaviour. This way he hopefully won't do it again.

He missed his train because he pulled his pants down in the train station and got sent out by the police.

I think I'd have stayed on the sofa too. Play silly games, get £90 taxi fare prizes.

It really does depend as PP say if its a regular thing or not. The silly childish drunk behaviour, I mean. If you were off your head vomiting or starting a stupid argument and were left stranded would he come collect you? I would hope so if it had never happened before. If it was a regular Saturday night for you then I guess it would be ok to leave you there.

I would have picked him up although my dh would have just got a taxi without asking me for a lift as he wouldn’t want me driving that late. It’s not like he did it on purpose, it was stupid and he should have know better but doesn’t seem malicious

If the last train had been cancelled then I absolutely would have gone and got him. In this instance he was thrown off the platform for stupid behaviour so it serves him right and hopefully the £90 taxi will mean he won’t do anything so stupid again!!

I’d have picked him up rather than having him pay £90.
Ok, he was a twat but I’d still have picked him up.
There is no way I’d want my DH spending 90 quid on a taxi when I could easily pick him up.
