Lindsay Clancy was let down

hds873banana · 14/08/2026 10:47

For those of you who may not know, Lindsay Clancy is an American mother who killed her three children (all under age 5) then tried to commit suicide by throwing herself out of a window, and is now wheelchair bound as a result. Her defence is she was in the throws of post natal psychosis.

You can watch the full trial on Court TV. The trial is ongoing now.

She was totally let down by the system, the doctors, maybe even her husband. I’ve never watched a full trial and been so appalled at what I am seeing and hearing. Kevin Reddington her lawyer needs an award.

It is interesting to me because I have a close relative who I’ve cared for for over a decade who is regularly in psychosis. The lack of understanding of psychosis generally is wild. I My relative can slip in and out of psychosis on a minute by minute basis some days.

I really hope Lindsay’s defence lawyer gets the best outcome for her even though her life is completely ruined whatever the outcome of the trial.

The fact that so many women are making up bizarre stories where the husband murdered the children or he was having an affair and that somehow makes him responsible for her strangling them shows there is something very very, very strange going on with many women’s reaction to this dreadful case.

That and the dressing up to demonstrate outside the courthouse and the sickening “Same, Lindsay” tiktok videos.

I watch this trial live every day. Perhaps hypocritically, I find it abhorrent that it's livestreamed and played on US TV every day because it's such an intensely personal thing for the families to sit through and we are witnessing awful pain, tragedy and loss.

However, livestreamed it is and I watch it because I am so interested in seeing how maternal mental health is described, analysed and treated and also the legal implications of what happens when someone is failed to this extent.

There is currently no scenario in which Patrick will be found guilty of anything. He is not on trial, he is a witness. I don't think people have grasped this very basic legal fact.

You clearly haven't watched the trial to say something like "he showed barely any emotion in court" nor heard PC talk about his children in court. It was the most painful thing to watch. I reccomend you watch the trial.

Edited

I have watched parts of the trial….i have a job so I can’t watch the whole thing!

I don’t think she did it. When husband discovered her, he claimed that she told him the children were downstairs but her thyroid was completely destroyed apparently and couldn’t speak. Also her Apple Watch wasn’t on her. Speculation that he used it to send messages. He showed barely any emotion in court, whereas she regularly broke down crying. He moved on very quickly with a new woman. It doesn’t seem right to me. I do think she was very unwell though.

I agree, that’s what surprised me too. She seems to have full support from everyone who knows her, including her MIL who was incredibly kind towards her despite everything. The ex husband is something else. He went on holiday a month later with his new woman and he’s already remarried Lindsey’s doppelgänger. Her lawyer is fantastic.

I’m currently off the opinion she did the murder but the ex husband was a narcissist who was having an affair and gaslighting her, making her feel even more alone and crazy.

Leave it alone mate, I shared my opinion on a forum. Your reaction is extreme and unnecessary.

Just a bit more knowledgeable about the case than you. (Way more) Did you
want me to find the links for you?

Says the person accusing a dad of not reacting how she expects him to. Thats vile.

I just said check your facts. A quick google will tell you exactly what I’ve said. But that’s completely up to you 😂 I’m just suggesting before you get upset again!!

ffs this is very clearly a case of someone becoming psychotic, they are not able to think logically their actions are driven by their delusional thoughts/voices

there are many cases of men killing people while they are psychotic and will be treated in secure hospitals, often a close relative

server postpartum depression can lead to postpartum psychosis, the reason why is thought to be many factors one being shift in hormones (which men will not get after birth) which she was treated for this is thankfully rare and as men do not give birth they are not treated for postpartum depression psychosis

So it's ok for a women to murder kids because they've just got to say the magic words?

The only person who is being defensive and childish is you. You are attacking me for voicing an opinion. Stop name calling just because I do not agree with you. How vile.

You do realise reporters who have heard the 911 call have said the word basement was said by LC right? So it’s no longer a question. It is fact. You know she slit her wrists? Why do you think she took off her watch?

You don’t get to judge how PC holds himself in court. He lost everything that night. LC isn’t a constant mess. She’s sat up, watching and listening. You saw a snippet of him. Stop repeating and start looking yourself. At least have a fresh opinion on it.

I can do whatever I like actually, you don’t get to tell me what to do. This is a public forum, I’m entitled to my own opinions, as are you 👍

Pullie · 21/08/2026 08:07

when I was at my lowest I literally had to have my husband do all my pharmacy runs and keep track of the 4 pills I took daily. He stood and watched me take them. My head was so gone I couldn’t organise myself to do this independently. I have a first class degree from Oxford. But my mind was gone. I couldn’t even remember the name of my dog that had passed the year before at one point. I was on some of the same medications I’ve seen Lindsay was prescribed. They are no joke. If I wasn’t supported I have no clue where I would be. I would walk around and literally only see methods of suicide - tall building, busy road etc. I had never had mental health issues prior to giving birth

It’s a fascinating case. Her mother in law supporting her. This feels very different to other murder cases. I do think that people who haven’t any knowledge about psychosis will struggle to understand. Thankfully it’s rare. My friend’s wife tried to kill him and stood screaming in the street about aliens. It took 10 police officers to get her safe. She has no recollection and 5 years later she’s on a low dose of medication, very much in love with her husband and raising their child. There was a point I feared we’d get the call she’d killed then both (her dh and dc) because mh support following crisis was awful.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories but I'm actually starting to wonder if she did it at all. The husband is quite suspicious in what he says and has contradicted himself on a few occasions now.

Did you see the footage of him on the day out when he was just lurking behind?

At best he was being totally unaware and shit father, she was baby carrying and wrangling two little ones. But his manner just seemed really creepy and off to me.

When an admission from a clearly severely mentally ill, over medicated, under medically supervised woman is accepted seemingly without question and without other evidence this is bound to lead to speculation some of it is wild.

You have no clue what was investigated in early days. For a start, Patrick is on video a few miles from home and has an alibi. You’re all bonkers if you think Patrick is guilty. Have you seen any of the videos of reporters who heard the 911 call? The reason it is withheld is because it is so harrowing. Patrick could have probably done more to support Lindsay, but he did not kill the kids. That’s not even up for discussion in the court, as Patrick is being tried only by people on social media who have nothing better to do than make up stuff to make the case more exciting for them. Its a disgrace to the memory of those children, and completely unfair to Patrick, and worse of all, detracts from the serious issues that should he focussed on here, lack of post natal womens health care.

Have you ever supported somebody with severe mental illness?

So the sane father who’s got a rock solid alibi did it because he fled to another city to rebuild after losing everything in the most unimaginable circumstances and suffering a long time supporting somebody who was incredibly mentally ill. The same person who supports his wife now along with his family?

That is ridiculous.

I have watched the trial every day. These ridiculous Patrick did it theories are detracting from what should be a focus on women’s mental health. Especially in the US when mat leave is so short. What shocks me is the amount of people believing these ridiculous suggestions, that Patrick did it, I mean some of the things they’ve suggested are insane. When Lindsay has admitted it, and told 2 people before she had thoughts of harming the kids. It’s got Jay Slater / Nicola Bulley hysteria all over it.

On her knees but not following the medical advice or treatment? Ok

Non compliance with medical advice is often seen in psychosis .

Only woman are allowed to be depressed 😂 if a guy did this they'd be ripping him to shreds! But a woman gets to say she was crazy and get away with it ❤️ ❤️

Her defence is PPP. She sought help for it constantly. This is about how women are treated after pregnancy. This is about the lack of support women receive.

Men don’t get PPP. They get depressed but this case is specifically about a woman and other woman resonate with it. Watch the trial, you will see how she was ignored and fobbed off with random medications.

So it’s not ignoring men and depression, it’s just not about them. It’s bizarre anyone mentions a man in a case about depression linked with pregnancy.

Christ a guy does absolutely nothing wrong but of course you'll twist it to still be his fault? God forbid he move on in life

Agreed. And no-one knows when he started dating her, it’s all just rubbish they read online. So gullible. And so what, just because he has moved on, doesn’t make him suspicious in anyway. Lindsay committed these crimes and is not denying she did.
