Do you hang your undies on the washing line?

I'd never thought of it that way. The idea of a man using our unwashed undies was really nauseating so maybe slightly better if he had stolen clean underwear.
What it did teach me & my girlfriends was to never rent a ground floor flat again, or to stay in a ground floor hotel room. Just too dangerous for women.

I hang them out. Would find it more embarrassing for my neighbours to think I didn’t wear knickers

I never put my underwear outside to dry. To explain:
When I was single and sharing a ground floor flat with 3 girlfriends, someone broke into our flat. When we arrived home to find a window had been forced open, we didn't at first notice anything missing, then one of my friends noticed her laundry hamper had been upturned, and all her unwashed knickers had been stolen. The rest of us checked and found the same. When the police came to take fingerprints, interview us, etc. one of them casually mentioned that this was not the first time he'd attended this type of crime, and that women's underwear was also regularly stolen from washing lines by perverts. He surmised that clean undies that had been worn were more "desirable" than buying new women's underwear, but that the "best" (from pervs' PoV) were used and unwashed undies.Made me and my girlfriends feel sick re what the thief was doing with our stolen underwear.
My friends & I left that flat and found somewhere else to live, not on the ground floor, And ever since I have not hung my bras or knickers on the line to dry.

I hang everything out for freshness, but the neighbours can see everything so the date night stuff I try to hide behind something like a sheet!

Yup 👍🏻 everything gets hung outside…I very much doubt my neighbours are interested in my granny pants! But if they are, so what 🤷‍♀️ It’s just knickers 😂

My underwear doesn’t tumble dry. I really don’t care what my neighbours think of my knickers. The main neighbour who would see is in her 80s anyway but the whirligig is overlooked by a couple of other houses in another street but I really don’t care ifsome bloke I never speak to has a pants fetish, as long as he doesn’t try to nick them. I just want dry fresh pants

Two of my friends don’t hang anything outside, they tumble dry everything. One doesn’t want neighbours looking at their clothes 🤷🏼‍♀️ the other doesn’t want birds shitting / sitting on their clothes!

Why are some people so weird about this?
Yes, I hang knickers (and bras!!) out in my garden. I tend to assume my neighbours have better things to do than examine my underwear on its drying rack.

Our line isn’t big enough for everything. All the sheets/towels etc go on the line, t-shirts/trousers etc on the inside horse, all smalls in the dryer. Who has the time?! 4 children, 2 adults, by itself knickers and socks is a lot. Just chuck ‘em in the dryer.

I live in a flat, communal washing lines and I don't want my undies viewed by others. I always hang them inside.

I hang mine on the octopus thingie. Think mine came from Home Bargains. DH had someone come round to buy something the other day and they were standing chatting in the garden while my sturdy undies were blowing in the breeze. Did I care? no.

I don't have a wShing line. I've got a massive cricket net in garden. I buy knickers a size big and wash then throw in the dryer.

I recently moved. The back garden is open view for all and sundry. I held off for about 3 months then started doing it. At my previous home it was more enclosed so not an issue.

Yes, but I put underwear in the middle of my whiryline and put larger garments, or sheets and towels on the outer edges, so it obscures the view of the things in the middle, especially if I have washing on all four sides, which I tend to do so that things are spaced out.

Some people are weirdly coy about their knickers

My mum always used to hang them on the inside of the washing line and then put larger clothes like t shirts or whatever on the outside of the washing line so they were out but not really visible.
I just put everything on the line as it comes out of the basket. I assume my neighbours are not too offended by the sight of underwear. I never even think to look what is on other people's washing line.

I think that both of us will just have to agree that we both have differing standards of privacy, dignity and modesty. You may prefer to wave your private undergarments at half mast to entice all of the neighbourhood men, but I prefer to keep mine drying indoors, away from lascivious glances. I don't want to give my neighbours the wrong impression about my husband and I, we are respectable people and not slovenly heathens or- god forbid- swingers!

I don’t - because I’m lazy and can’t be arsed with hanging underwear and socks on the line, it takes forever! I wash undies and socks together, so a full load, then feck them in the dryer.

I hang mine on the line - and it's a long line not a rotary one so they're not even in the middle. I figure if anyone is actually looking at them then that's definitely a them problem. What my pants do when I'm not wearing them is none of my business. Just like whatever happens under the fridge.
