To think Count Binface is doing a great job in the Clacton by-election?

Count down to Bin Day!

Count Binface has been out bigging-up Clacton and drawing attention to its potential.

It’s a really positive campaign.

I don’t think he’ll win but I’d love it if he did. I think he’d be brilliant.

And if he doesn’t, I think other candidates could learn a lot from his approach.

No, because I don't let other voters sway me.

Or facts

ClarkeandNewman · 14/08/2026 09:52

Is there anyone you'd be embarrassed to vote for?

No, because I don't let other voters sway me.

AImportantMermaid · 14/08/2026 11:26

Darker · 14/08/2026 10:16

Exactly, @parall .

And there is now more attention on the investigation than before, because he’s put on such a performance to avoid scrutiny.

Reform is losing support and Farage has become a liability.

I believe this is called The Streisand Effect 😂😂😂

That said, I am so bored of Farage now. He’s completely overexposed. Can he not just fuck off and do some actual work for a change?

This hasn't made Farage look good, especially calling the other candidates 'nobodies' which says a lot about him.

SinnerBoy · 14/08/2026 11:06

He hardly attends Parliament.

He's made no speeches.

He hardly votes in Parliament.

He's been to Clacton 3 times since being elected, only meeting business owners. He has not held a single constituency surgery.

He's got in on just over 20% of the electorate, a figure which he said meant that Labour under Starmer had no legitimate right to rule.

Will he apply that same standard to himself?

Farage has - once again - made himself look like a fucking arse.

He resigned to avoid his finances being scrutinised, framing it as "people vs the establishment" test. Instead, it turned into a ridiculous farce where reform - and let's take a bit of time to savour this sentence - were genuinely worried that Farage would lose to a man with a bin on his head.

Rather than being a walk in a park like he assumed, reform had to chuck real resource at the bi-election. Against a man with a bin on his head and a bunch of other reform members standing solely to split the protest vote.

And now he does have to face up to the Parliamentary Commissioner after all, and let's hope that he loses his seat as a result.

So what's he achieved? Fuck all, other than looking like a complete wanker. Again.

If I was a reform voter I'd be fucking furious with him. But I'm not, because I'm not stupid.

AprilMizzel · 14/08/2026 10:57

Well I don't think it's done Farage much good across the country and we'll have to wait and see if it all ends up in another by-election.

He was always likely to win though given the amount of resouces thrown at it by reform not sure they thought that despite main parties not standing.

piscofrisco · 14/08/2026 10:52

LuckyHazelFox · 14/08/2026 09:37

You'd be embarrassed at your democratic choice? That explains a lot.

I’d be embarrassed if I’d exercised my hard won democratic vote to cast it for Farage yes. That’s what it explains.

Warmlight1 · 14/08/2026 10:46

Scotiasdarling · 14/08/2026 09:09

Just remember Nigel Farage has won a greater share of the vote than Burnham did in his by-election (both polls engineered for political expediency). All the main parties have achieved by being too frightened to stand against him is hand him a bigger majority.

And maybe we should remember that people are innocent until found guilty?. He's being investigated. Save your criticism until we actually know what he's done.

It's hardly equivalent. Andy won resoundingly against established political parties- the establishment is n fact. Just to contextualise, the gap.was similar to ' safe' conservative seats against Labour prior to the last election. Only Binface isn't even a political party with all those resources.

ClarkeandNewman · 14/08/2026 10:43

Anyway, when all's said and done, what can we take from this farce? That the only by election Mr Farage's rotten, racist party can win is one that's essentially uncontested. That he's too frightened or contemptuous of his own voters to show up at the count and thank his opponents. That far from avoiding accountability, he's actually increased the focus on his dodgy dealings. That ultimately his political legacy won't be the politician who overthrew democratic norms but the man who stood against a dustbin because he couldn't come up with any more reasonable opponents.

Slow hand clap for Mr Farage. Or a conventional one for his services to popping the balloon of far right populism!

Happy to help here @ClarkeandNewman since @BluebellsAndBorage insists on their errors being highlighted.

I'm sure Burnham wishes he had won 63.3%, the figure Farage won.
E1. This is your speculation not a factual statement.

Just to remind you, Burnham won 53% of the Makerfield vote.
E2: it was 54.8% of the vote, not 53%.

Rather than feeling humiliated, Burnham felt that that was enough of a mandate to automatically become PM.
E3. Winning Makerfield didn't automatically make Burnham PM. It made him an MP. Becoming Labour leader required a process.

I think most people knew Binface was a Labour Candidate in all but name.
E4. Binface wasn't a Labour candidate. He represents the Count Binface Party and literally stood against Labour in the Makerfield election.

That was one of the reasons he only won 26%, despite having the backing of many Labour lovies
E5: Again, this is your speculation not a fact.

Thank you. Rhetorically speaking, BluebellsAndBorage's post was a useful exercise in understanding populist tactics all right, even if it contributed little else of note!

Yes, a pyrrhic victory indeed.

I wonder how soon an enthusiastic Committee can convene to forensically investigate the donations, who the donors are, and most importantly why they donated such vast sums to someone who (to me) is a charlatan, but with connections and the potential to influence and propagandise.

Shakeoffyourchains · 14/08/2026 10:21

So as predicted NF won back the seat he resigned from.

That's democracy I suppose.

However, it's ironic that the one thing being constantly spoken about is his complete lack of manners, lying, and his total cowardice in not turning up for the result. Not his win, not the number of votes he got, not the turnout, not Binface, not the weather, no - this.

Why would you think that? Do you have such a high opinion of yourself that you expect people to spend time picking through the sea of dross that you post? The fact that you maintain a straight face while asserting that we all know this and we all know that (insert bizarre claim) says it all.

ClarkeandNewman · 14/08/2026 09:56

BluebellsAndBorage · 14/08/2026 09:50

Hooray for Binface! Single gins all round!

Farage got more than half the vote-13% more in fact.

Double Hooray for Farage! Double gins all round!

Your man was comprehensively humiliated and you're trying to repurpose that as some kind of wild victory. Hilarious, the lack of awareness from Faragists who'd publicly defend him if he stamped on a puppy.

Darker · 14/08/2026 09:55

AImportantMermaid · 14/08/2026 09:44

At the end of the day he got 13 thousand votes more than a bin, but what a big baby. I do think it’s an absolute disgrace that Farage couldn’t even be bothered to do his voters the courtesy of turning up for the vote announcement. People who took an hour out of their day and left their homes in 33 degree heat to stand in a queue at some godforsaken church hall to show their support for him and he couldn’t be arsed to attend the count and thank them, even though they’re the ones who got him over the finish line.

Most of the people he called ‘nobodies’ were local residents who had made the time and effort to exercise their democratic right and stand for election, and he should have acknowledged their participation and thanked them as is traditional and normal.

That shows contempt and I guess it pretty typical of how he treats the very place and people he’s supposed to champion. it’s treated them as little more than useful idiots.

And can we stop saying establishment now? We all know Nigel is the establishment and we all know there’s some party three line whip that makes everyone say it every third sentence. It sounds fake and meaningless and shite.

Well said.

Nigel is socking it to the establishment by shooting himself in the foot, so I suppose it does make sense in a way.

Farage has managed to make himself look pathetic again by refusing to attend the election winner announcement because he was scared of sharing the stage with a bin...

And he lied about the police advising him not to attend.

So he is just a coward and a liar who wasted taxpayer money.

On the plus side now the investigation into dodgy Reform donations can resume.

Point out any error in my post.

The figures are taken from the BBC News website, as are the details of those who went to support Binface.

Tricky isn't it when the facts don't support your agenda @ClarkeandNewman and you have to resort to vagueness.

By the way, are you in charge about how many times a poster can post?

Are you on Mumsnet staff or just someone who would be something if they could...a little like Binface in fact!

Trust me, life is too short to point out the errors in your assertions. Hence my suggestion that you read and research more. Are you opposed to becoming more informed? Why?
