Count down to Bin Day! Count Binface has been out bigging-up Clacton and drawing attention to its potential. It’s a really positive campaign. I don’t think he’ll win but I’d love it if he did. I think he’d be brilliant. And if he doesn’t, I think other candidates could learn a lot from his approach.

Immigrants come in through legal channels, they are a great support to our country.
Migrants on the other hand, leave their native country either for financial reasons or because of war, most leaving behind their family members to cope alone.

Oh hardly a resounding success by any conventional definition of the term! A resounding humiliation perhaps, since people saw through his ploy and refused to play his game. Less than 25% of the total electorate of Clacton voted for him. He was caught out lying about being told by the police not to attend the count. Then the mask well and truly slipped with his contemptuous remarks about "nobodies". Not to mention his reliance on old 30p Lee who predictably looked like rent a gob.

How does that constitute even a minor triumph?

I think you are missing the point.

The man wears a bin of his head and is a comedian. He is not concerned about 'making an idiot of himself'...

But the comedy act did have the decency of turning up to the vote result while Farage, the supposedly serious politician, bottled it.

I would have said most people who support Reform say that immigration is their key issue? Certainly first among many even if they have other views.

I don't think it's particularly likely that the current government is going to actively reverse migration, but if they did then I'd consider voting for them to continue, I guess. There's a hypothetical version of the Labour party that might do it to increase wages, perhaps? But I think the current version doesn't have the electoral incentives to do it.

I'm also concerned about other topics of course but I think they'll all be harder to address while migration is still out of control. For example, low-skilled workers aren't going to contribute to state coffers and help with an ageing population, they're just going to withdraw their own pensions.

Care workers? Classed as low skill, certainly poorly paid yet entirely essential. In my experience the people who sign up for training in care are without exception migrants.

Why does it bother you?

Our Democracy allows members of the public to stand. You don’t have to be a member of a political party.

Binface was the recipient of over 9,000 votes...... not FOR him.....but against Farage
Binface Just wants the publicity. Maybe good for his career as an entertainer but it's just his 15 minutes under the spotlight.

Count Binface = fantasy character created by a satirist

Nigel Farage = career politician

Harvey had never dressed up as Count Binface or run in an election intending to win. He is more like a modern court jester.
