youngsters I follow either colleagues or hairdressers/ kids of friends in their 20s, et cetera on Instagram you check in and they've posted some bollocks about anxiety/ deep connections/Poisoning our bodies/loving full lives is it part of being young and is it that we would have done the same in the 80s and 90s but couldn't ? who produces all this hammy shit?

Do the sentences at least make sense? There was this research project some years ago where the researchers had AI make " inspirational quotes" and it was all complete nonsense. They wanted to see how it spread and who spread it. The conclusion was that it spread fast and the people who spread it were unintelligent.

My DH's little sister, who were in her forties then, shared a lot of the nonsense quotes on Facebook. My DH was not on Facebook then so I went to him in alarm because I thought she had a stroke or something since she was consistently sharing nothing but gibberish. My DH looked at it, sighed, and stated that she was just being stupid as per usual.

She has form for being rather pretentious and there is most definitely some Dunning-Kruger Syndrome there.

In my day we posted that shit on Tumblr and felt all deep and meaningful. In the Victorian era young people wrote poems. It’s all the same search for themselves and for belonging and to make sense of the world.
