Some of this Forbes article is just rehash of BBC coverage, but I also enjoy the reporting about evidence the prosecutors produced to show Tate brothers are obtaining fancy coffee, snacks and fripperies while in prison, too, in spite of claims about their terribly harsh treatment <tiny violin play...>

That was hilarious. I saw an interview where he was talking about the colour of his luxury car and I thought then, there's no way you actually picked that colour yourself. No one from your background with your self image would pick purple for a sports car...then I started to have doubts.

It was all there on screen that his super wealthy lifestyle was bs. The size of the house, the lack of style in his and his brothers dress (the clothes don't fit well and look cheap) the lack of decent "things" in his house

What amuses me is lawyers in lawsuit saying the whole Tate presentation is make believe, a fraud, entirely rented vehicles, they wear wigs, the women are hired, etc.

My understanding is that he leaned into short-form content, much as many like him did, and either he or someone else involved really mastered getting his sound bite content to be pushed by the algorithm. People would see one 20 second clip of something that sounded alright, and then over time it infects the feed.

Part of that was his 'hustler's university' that encouraged his followers to also repost clips of the Tate brothers -- they were proven money makers, and having it come from so many accounts meant it really busted the system that resulted at least YouTube tweaking their system around reposted content like he popularised. At the height of his popularity, multiple people showed how quickly those clips would enter the feed and young people spending a lot of time of those apps would see a lot of it, and see the mix of 'normal' soundbites with the extreme ones, using the former and his popularity to defend him.

He made money from the social media as well as exploiting young women as other mentioned, and so for a while a lot of his content was showing his lifestyle, calling those without brokies, and some admired him for the story he'd sell of growing and overcoming being poor, either ignoring or having a 'hate the game, not the player' view of how he made that money.

For years now, he's been putting out more extreme and often contradictory content as part of keeping his audience and attention on him. He seem to me to have become really fragmented, and also encouraging that fragmenting - this is a guy who went on about how great his often absent father was because he was absent.

Not that Andrew looks intelligent by any stretch but the brother looks completely brain dead. He’s always stood there, one step behind Andrew, totally vacant. Has anyone ever heard him speak?
