To ban SD from my en suite?!

I’m fuming!!

When I moved in with DH, an en suite was an essential on my list. I have DD12 and he has SS15 and SD17 and I don’t want to share my personal space with teenagers. They’re also not allowed in our bed.

Have come back from a work trip early to find SD getting out of my bath, with my shampoos, body lotions and creams laid out and my bloody dressing gown and slippers on and apparently she often does this when I’m away!

She - and DH and everyone else - are well aware my en suite is off limits. AIBU?

I really wouldn't mind her using my ensuite (if I had either a stepdaughter or an ensuite).
Not something I would fall out about .

I wouldn’t have an issue with my kids (or step kids if I had them) using my en-suite if there was a reason, eg the only bath available at that time.

however I’d be raging if they used all my products without asking first

We bought together and the deposit was mostly mine!! For background the kids share a bathroom and we also have a downstairs loo and an annex with a shower room if anyone needs a quick shower. This was a deliberate choice to use my stuff!

I’m 42 and I’m still not sure that I’m allowed in my mum’s en suite when I’m at home!

I mean I let my dd17 use my en suite bathroom because it has a shower cubicle rather than an over bath shower, which she prefers.

Plus she often wants a shower at the same time DS12 wants a bath.

If I had expensive creams and whatnot I wouldn’t want a teenager - mine or a DP’s - using them. Certainly not without permission. And wearing your dressing gown etc is completely beyond the pale!

Doesn't sound like your ban is enforceable without a lock.

I’m very strongly considering a lock but I’m disappointed to need one in my own home!!

I've actually just told ds 11 to get out of my bedroom. I'd be getting a lock op. And she can replace all of your stuff.

yanbu however don’t go off on one. Teenagers will intrude. So you need to ensure they understand boundaries and consequences with ur husbands support.

I totally agree. My own children are not allowed in my en suite, they’re not allowed to use my stuff and neither are they allowed in my room when I’m not there.
