I hate it too. I do not think it is suitable. I don't believe we can wear what we like. If a man had his bott on show I would feel the same

Even people with fantastic bums look ridiculous walking down an urban high street with it on full open display. There's even a phrase "showing your arse" to mean embarrassing yourself. Kids laugh their heads off when they see someone's bum.

In other news, the "shorts" seem to be giving way to ripped jeans, 80"s style, and short denim skirts with bare legs and boots, both styles look much more cool and they work for various body shapes as opposed to a style that literally very few people can get away with without ridicule or comment.

At the bus stop today we witnessed a right sight. Skirt halfway down her bum, wobbly white cheeks spilling out, each side of her thong. She got on the double decker, and the view for the downstairs passengers as she climbed the stairs was horrific, though there was some laughter as well. I thought the pensioner at the bottom of the stairs was going to need CPR!

IMO it is definitely to do with porn and the proliferation of Anal Sex. It should be banned. Men and Women alike should dress modestly and respectfully

My DD went to a concert in Dublin last night. She wanted to wear a short denim skirt, ankle boots and a crop halter top. I said no way as Dublin is rough and I knew she would be walking past loads of men in the city before and after the
concert. I collected her and her friends afterwards and was driving through the streets in a sea of bare arse cheeks. I have never seen anything like it, literally thousands of teenagers/young women with their backside on show. DD said on the tram there was one woman in thong shorts things sitting on the seat, she said is was gross.
These are not hotpants there are way more revealing, I do wish they would have more modesty. Its obviously being done to attract men.I dont know how they dont all have thrush!

I saw a child wearing these yesterday. I really don't understand why you'd put a child in skin-tight hotpants with half of her bum hanging out as opposed to longer or looser clothes.

Agree its inappropriate in public and I don’t think it looks very nice especially paired with crop tops!

I was walking behind a young girl during the week about 12 or 13. She was overweight, wearing Nike pro shorts (the tiny hot pants) they were too tight for her, they were bunched up her butt cheeks, full cheeks out with a short T shirt. It looked like her butt was eating the shorts every time she took a step.
I had to cross the road. I’m not prudent about showing your body but within reason.
I don’t want to see anyone’s pale ass in my face.
What on earth was her parent thinking.

Plus sized ones definitely are, though (and those are almost inevitably droopy - ask me how I know). In fact, those are the only ones I've seen essentially fully out on city streets nowhere near a body of water (string thong, tasselled belt that barely touches the crack; to all intents and purposes a bare arse).

I do think it's about trying to be edgy and fashionable rather than titillate every man in the vicinity but I still think it's a pretty horrid fashion no matter what the bum is like. Don't much like it even on the beach but that feels a bit more appropriate. Wandering around a major landlocked city for shopping, coffee, cinema, theatre? That's just not good taste even for the world's most beautiful behind.

Well yes, you are correct in saying that young women overwhelmingly report that they don't choose their clothes for men, and they also overwhelmingly report that they don't want men looking at them.

So why young women wear so-called 'revealing' clothes will continue to be a mystery to everyone.

Your explanation of "fashion of youth" and "pushing boundaries" does not explain their fashion choices. There are countless ways to be an anarchist that don't involve showing any body parts at all. And many young women who dress like this are hardly anarchists - employed in very highly paid job roles at giant corporations while carrying around Apple products in their bag.

I used to wear these in the late 90s/eariy 00s. I think kylies good hot pants inspired many of us lol
I liked how they looked and I had a great bum, so why not! No regrets.

Its on trend right now, ive also got a pair and yes i have worn them out. Once to the local and a number of times out walking to our local beach
