Bums hanging out of the bottom of teeny tiny shorts

I wore them in the 70s.. made my own cutting up a pair of old jeans. Frayed the edges.. wore with cheese cloth top that tied at under the bust.. it's nothing new.. oh to be 18 again with the lovely figure l had then.. lovely long legs. Pert bum and boob's that stayed up... unfortunately I'm now 68.. as long as no bits on show.. live and let live.

No. This is different. Yes shorts and short shorts have been around. But the new ones literally have the lower buttocks on show. And I’ve seen a young woman out wearing a thong. I don’t know what to think

No self respect or sense of responsibility. I think they are perfectly aware that what they are showing, is vulgar and disgusting and likely to attract the wrong sort of attention.

They know young men are not going to approach them, not in the way that used to be normal if maybe too pushy sometimes, many young men totally ignore women now, not sure if that is because they don"t know what sex they are themselves or if the girls are too choosy and think they can snag a footballer because they see themselves as "hot" so ordinary young guys don"t bother, or if it is online social dynamics influencers preaching about "indifference" etc. This all feeds into it, going out in a group dressed like a hip hop video that would have been censored a few years ago just screams - "I"m here, look at me, I have a body, pay attention to me...please!" The danger starts when the less confident girls who are just following the pack end up wandering about drunk after a club, then they are in danger from real predators who might be triggered by the clothing, or see it as an invitation.

'Female stars nowadays' eh? I assume you haven't seen a photo of any female pop stars since the 1950s if you are shocked by contemporary stage attire and that you have never heard of a popular singer called Madonna who had a few hits from the 80s onwards!
Seriously though, as someone who is a huge fan of many of the artists you name, particularly my queen, Taylor Swift, I think this is a gross and unfair characterisation of these talented women. Female pop stars of today are far more likely to write their own music, play multiple instruments and have a much greater level of control over their image and careers than was typically the case in times gone by. Yes, Sabrina Carpenter dresses saucily on stage, but she is a grown woman and her image in keeping with her fun, catchy and frequently cheeky music.
As for Taylor, yes, as part of the epic Eras tour shows, comprising three to four hours of extraordinary and often gruelling choreography, and dazzling sets and costume changes, some of her outfits were more skimpy than others, but completely suitable for a professional dancer to where while engaging in energetic and complex choreography. Did you want her to wear a full length ballgown throughout the whole show? She does in fact where some long flowing outfits as part of her dazzling and extensive array of stage outfits, but she can hardly be expected to do so for the whole show! People often comment on what a classy dresser TS is off-stage, so she seems like a weird subject for your ire. Not that I think it should matter how any woman chooses to dress, famous or not, as long as they are happy.

Depends who is noticing and appreciating it. If it's the right kind of man they'll be flattered and delighted. If it's the wrong kind of man they'll be appalled at being sexually objectified. And therein lies the problem. All types of men will notice. Not just the ones you wanted to.

This thread is sad. I have never worn revealing clothes but anyone has the right to do so if they want. Telling your daughters that they will be judged and catcalled is so bloody disgusting. And laughing about schoolgirls being told they are tarty is insane.

I completely agree, but when I took my 13 yr old shopping recently to a big town with major high street shopping chains, all the shorts are v short. It was very difficult to find something even half decent, and she certainly wasn’t going to entertain me taking her into M&S or similar to shop for her in there!!

so I think it is the fact that this is all the shops for that age group seem to be selling as the reason why there are so many girls wearing teeny shorts right now. And spirals as then all the other girls follow the trend of showing off their bum cheeks 🫣
