Yes I see that you are correct, it is where I live (Commonwealth) so assumed we inherited that law from the UK. It’s in the criminal code here and quite handy when you have a nudist living next door. We’re clearly very prudish over here!

I’m late 50s and I would also find it very amusing. I wish my neighbours did that. It’s boring here.

I giggle, as at the first spot of sunshine my dad used to cut the grass then sunbathe starkers (when we had all moved out!). He only did it as the rear of the house is completely shielded by trees, and the front is open south facing with neighbour fields away.

Now we took over the house, I admit that it is quite nice to sit having breakfast in just a dressing gown with a breeze on a warn day.

But in general...I grew up in a very unprudish household - you could walk from the bathroom to your room naked, when we lived abroad most people would be naked sunbathing on breaches. As a kid changing rooms at pools rarely had cubicles and were mostly open plan. Naked doesn't bother me, though I am a person interested in bodies (with absolutely no tingly feelings associated) so I would probably stare enough to make them feel awkward.

No one is talking about sexualisation or shame. But I’d love to know how you think children are meant to be taught that there’re some parts of your body you don’t show to people, if grown adults around them are… well, showing them to people. 🤔

And frankly I don't want to see my neighbours' private parts or them having sex in full view.

I mean. I do. I’m overlooked. I sunbathe, go out naked sometimes. Sometimes DH and I even have naughty time out there…😲😳😉

As much as I'd hate to see this site in my neighbours garden, there's nothing you can do really. So sorry though! Could be ways to encourage them to go inside...water fight, parties, smokey bbq's, rave music?

Yes I do, the naked body is not a bad thing, it is uneccesarily sexualised and shamed. We are born naked.

As long as they aren't doing anything explicit then I think it's fine, and I don't think anyone has to make a song and dance about children seeing nude bodies either. They are bodies – everyone has one.

They did nearly do a swap in one episode and the main driver was Margo from what I remember. If anyone was going to get them all naked it was going to be Margo.

I’m glad I live in Scotland where it’s virtually never warm enough to be naked outdoors. I wouldn’t even wear a bikini in my garden, though that’s a me issue. I like full coverage swimwear that you could wear in a chapel.

I do wonder about Scandinavian countries where nudity is much more normal in public bathing areas. Do people there grow up with a healthier view of bodies?

Fully paid up member of the cool kids crew here - this wouldn't bother me at all. The extent of my discombobulation would be doing a double-take and thinking 'Oh, Dave and Sandra are starkers again'. I guess it tallies with the heatwave but I must admit, it's one of those topics that crops up on MN every so often but I've yet to encounter anyone who's had this issue IRL.

I'm really in two minds about this. There's a part of me that wants to be all live and let live, body positive (especially in front of my children) and say it's up to people what they do in their own garden.

But on the other hand I can see right into my neighbours gardens from my upstairs window and I would admittedly find it a bit disturbing if I opened the curtains one day to find Richard next door lazing on a sun lounger with his willy out.

Yeah I’m not sure either, although to be fair we had a neighbour who was a naturist, lovely man, bit eccentric, drove past his house one day and he was strimming the borders completely starkers, we thought ouch. 😂

his house isn’t over looked, and sits on a large detached plot. just you could see if you drove past and happened to look, we also saw him doing naked yoga in his living room once, again on driving past, for me each to their own, and he wasn’t visible from our home. If it was I guess at some point I’d get annoyed as I don’t feel it’s reasonable to tell people they shouldn’t ever look out their windows, especially if you’ve kids, I certainly wouldn’t want my young daughter or son banned from looking out their windows as billy and Jane have got their bits out,

they must know full well well that neighbours can see them without staring or peeping through the bushes .
You want to do that then you need live out in the sticks with no neighbours .

I’m not convinced all these threads about neighbours being naked / ‘prancing in bikinis’ in their gardens which ‘can be seen if you look out of the upstairs bedroom windows’ on new build housing estates are genuine. This is the second one this morning. It’s like people have all been watching 70s sex comedies starring Robin Askwith.
