Why are they the scum of the earth? They're not my cup of tea but "scum of the earth" appears a tad harsh.

Most people I know aren't obsessed with 0.1% of the population. They also believe that "a measure of a civilised society is how the majority treats the minorities". Quite simple really.

It's always people on the right who do this too. There are as many left-leaning people as right-leaning, but it's only the ones on the right who feel attacked for their views, despite them apparently being the 'sensible' views that everyone secretly shares. I wonder why.

@Heronwatcher I honestly would not turn up at someone’s house without a text first. Unless I need them to call emergency services or something I just wouldn’t do it.

Another vote for Nero. Head and shoulders above Costa and the horrible Starbucks - oh, and many independents too, I'm afraid to say.

I think their coffee is excellent and so do several of my coffee connoisseur friends!

Er - apart from perhaps the Nazi swastika, it's not possible for a flag to be racist. The motives for putting it up in a particular place at a particular time might just be, but the MN knee-jerk of hating English or Union flags is tiresome.

I'm sure they all love the pretty tricolor flags all over French towns and cities! But that's different, of course.

Sure, there are some malevolent people around just now - but we shouldn't give in to them. Don't let them claim these flags.

All supermarket bread unless its sourdough. Especially Kingsmill 😂. It has to be home made bread. Everyone seems to bake their own bread.

I make my own or have sourdough because ones like Kingsmill or Warburtons give me really bad acid reflux. Otherwise I really wouldn’t mind the bog standard sliced loaf.

Basically any contact with people, even friends.

On Mumsnet it’s considered to be incredibly rude/ bordering on psychotic to go to someone’s house unannounced (say if you are passing by), even close family, phone someone to speak to them, invite them to a wedding without strict social conventions being followed. Don’t even mention baby showers or a Halloween party, and social gatherings at Christmas are nothing but commercialised stealth boasts with tinsel, to add to the stress. People claim to never want to go on holiday with family and friends, can’t bear to share a table in a cafe, and the most banal of interactions on a social level is over- analysed into absolute tedium (how dare that woman who said my baby was “a good size” fat shame us both?).

And GOD FORBID the grandparents of a newborn would want to actually meet and hold them before they are 4 months old in Mumsnet-land.

Whereas in real life me and everyone I know get a lot out of friendships, mostly love our families and like a party. And my kids met everyone in the immediate family before they were a week old and WERE EVEN KISSED by their grandparents…

I've never met anyone in real life who has talked about going to Centreparcs! I think of it as VERY Mumsnet thing.

They run at 98% capacity, people go!
