I read this quote and it encapsulates exactly how I feel

'I never thought I'd see the day when the Right became the cool ones giving the finger to the establishment, and the Left became the snivelling self-righteous ones going around shaming everybody'

AIBU to think this is what many people think these days? We didn't leave the left, the left left us.

*the quote is from John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten. He's deliberately provocative in lots of ways, but he meant this one. I fully expect some people to come on the thread to tell us all how he's a horror and said he likes Donald Trump. That would be them missing the point.. but.. Let Them..

As to care work, Islamic rules I don't think would forbid male carers doing personal care for elderly men. Whether they would want to is another question. Opposite sex personal care obviously isn't ideal any way and leaves room for abuse, but unfortunately care homes generally are so short staffed..

I’m centre left voter and not remotely like this, I’m not even particularly ‘woke’ - and there are many like me - I’m very much a believer in capitalism but with a strong social underpinning ( think the scandis, Netherlands, Germany) the idea we are all a load of green voting vegan killjoys is for the birds and nope I don’t really go a bundle on them either - we could equally say everyone who votes Tory or Reform is a bigoted , rose tinted glasses berk with zero understanding of international trade as it is these days - but that wouldn’t be the full picture, well not the Tory’s anyway, Reform - more so , as clearly most voting that way don’t give a shit about out and out dodgy conmen either and have zero understanding of what is bar room populist bullshit just for the masses

No doubt the (at least) 18 million people coming into the country would not be contributing. Do you think any of the small boat arrivals are going to be care workers? I did notice that your vote has moved to Conservative.

In honesty, when you look at the set up of Reform and the movement of Tory MPs over to them, I struggle to see the Conservatives as anything other than just Reform in a bluer tie.

I also think Kemi would have to go some to make the last 14 years forgivable, and I don’t see her ever doing enough to convince me.

As I said above - its shifted left not right. What should be seen as a normal centrist scientific fact is now a right wing bigoted view apparently. Same with concerns about immigration This is normal but the left have pulled it so far left that it makes any centrist concerned about immigration now look right.

Why do you think there’ll be an election in 2027? Are you still hanging on to the idea a new PM would do it to get their own mandate? Pie in the sky. Labour has a historically high majority and know that they wouldn’t get the same again even if the change brought enough voters back to win. It would be political suicide. Won’t happen.
