To think no one can SERIOUSLY want Starmer to go now, it’s media created instability designed to damage the UK.

trump, wars, Israel invading Lebanon, US mid terms…….

it would mental for Starmer to go and it’s a trap.

yabu - of course Starmer has to go, despite what is happening in the world right now.

yanbu - time to move on and deal with trump and the blatant manipulation of the media by Russia, right wing billionaire interests.

There’s nobody less damaging to replace him with, and that’s the bigger issue. Any alternatives are edging closer and closer to communism.

You clearly have no idea what communism actually means. Both Streeting and Rayner are soft left, as is Burnham. The entire party is significantly further right than even Blair’s government.

I want Starmer to stay. He’s the least bad Labour option for our economy. Any of the others would be worse. I’m just hanging on until the general election.

Holidayworry1 · 19/04/2026 10:56

@FlorenceLawrence this is what concerns me..hopefully not raynor but who ?

partmermaidpartplant · 19/04/2026 10:48

TBH I think the right wing media are so desperate to get someone in who will allow their owners to keep hoovering up money while the rest of us starve that they would call for his resignation if he farted in a lift.

Yeah I think so - they got so fat under Boris

also extra childcare help
increased Child benefit.
trying to improve the nhs

The Guardian broke the story. He and his supporters can’t even use that excuse.

You’re proving my point exactly

What is your point exactly? You say not everyone considers those to be good things, surely it’s not unreasonable to ask you which of them you object to?

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 19/04/2026 10:10

BIossomtoes · 19/04/2026 10:08

So what don’t you like on that list?

The idea that everyone agrees these things are ‘right’… they don’t.

But I don’t want him to go yet in any case, I want him to stay and sink even further, ensuring it’s one term only for them. He’s doing a great job of it so far.

So what don’t you like on that list?

True. Stay and sink Labour or go and do the same. Fine

partmermaidpartplant · 19/04/2026 10:06

Yeah lol school fee trauma !

I do wish he had done more about Gaza - the tories wouldn’t have either though. And the tories would have been sucking Trump’s dick and had us in the war.

yes vetting bad then.

but my overwhelming feeling is that Starmer and the Labour party are TRYING to improve the UK. something the Tories never did.

PFP contracts for the Dame Mone anyone ?

What don’t you like from that list? Let me guess, VAT on school fees.

I don’t know who ultimately pulls the strings in government (someone in the blob?) but I think the Americans/Trump wanted Peter Mandelson as the US diplomat and the Brits kowtowed to accommodate this. Everyone in the UK knew of Mandelson’s unsuitability for such a role but a blind eye was turned in the hope that his appointment could be “handled”. It’s all coming home to roost now. KS won’t go until after the local elections when hopefully the electorate will express their digust with all the corruption in govt and jobs for the boys, however unsuitable..

That's not the case at all. Trump's team urged Starmer NOT to appoint Mandelson. They tried to block the move, one of them called him a "moron" who should "stay at home" and they asked for Karen Pierce to be the US ambassador instead.

They only reluctantly agreed to the appointment when Starmer refused to give the job to Pierce.

partmermaidpartplant · 19/04/2026 09:07

interesting ! I think the previous poster who said Starmer was boring and sensible had it right.

considering the car crash of recent Tory governments, Liz truss’s economic disaster and now she’s hanging out with Trump.

Labour has
green lit lots of new building projects
more wind farms
VAT on school fees
increased renters and workers protections
stayed out of the war !
closer ties with EU
increased defence spending after Tory party neglected the army forces.
reduced the ‘small boats’ - caused by farage and brexit by the way.

why don’t we hear about those things?

You realise not everyone thinks these are good things, right?

An MP revealed in the House last September that Mandelson had failed the vetting process.

There really is no way back for Starmer from this

Yeh that’s bad for him.

BIossomtoes · 19/04/2026 09:57

This sort of corruption has never been allowed to happen under any other UK government.

Johnson failed security clearance as Foreign Secretary.

Some of us on this site are old enough to remember when we had to be bailed out by the IMF dur to labour mismanagement and are watching on in horror as history is repeating itself again.

Only half of the loan was actually drawn by the British government and it was repaid by 4 May 1979,[13] the day after the general election. Denis Healey, the Chancellor of the Exchequer at the time, went on to state that the main reason the loan had to be requested was that public sector borrowing requirement figures provided by the Treasury were grossly overstated.[14]

Greenwitchart · 19/04/2026 09:22

No! I voted Labour and I want him to go.

Because he and Reeves have proved useless and he is pursuing bizarre policies like ID cards that nobody wants while failing to address the cost of living and demonising disabled people. They also killed the job markert with their increase in national insurance for employers.

He has done nothing to curb utility companies profiteering or hasn't been bold enough to say that Brexit was a disaster and that we need to find a way to rejoin.

He is no Labour leader and has no vision whatsoever for the country.

He will be toast anyway after the May elections...

squaringtigers · 19/04/2026 09:19

If there was a credible person to replace him then yes, I think he should resign. Unfortunately there isn’t so it might be a case of ‘better the devil you know’.

The Tory dramas for the last few years have led many to believe changing PM regularly is normal. It’s not. He’s been elected for a term, he’s most likely going to complete that. If it’s getting close to the next general election and it’s really clear from polling that he is a problem that would cause them to lose the election, but changing leader would cause them to win, he might step down. However the Labour Party are shit at back stabbing compared to the Tories, even when the polling was clear that Corbyn himself, not his policies was a problem for the electorate, he chose to stay on and no one pushed him out until he lost 2 general elections.

if the public didn’t want Starmer to be the PM they shouldn’t have voted Labour last election. You’ll get a chance to pick someone else next time.

In the uk we dont elect a prime minister we elect a party.

@partmermaidpartplant I really dont think you understand quite how bad the mandalson fiasco is.
Mandalson failed the highest security vetting in this country which means hes a danger to the country and cant be trusted to see top secret intelligence as he is open to blackmail and bribery. Yet Starmer chose to ignore it and gave him clearance anyway. This sort of corruption has never been allowed to happen under any other UK government.

The simple fact is Starmer has put this country at risk just for his buddy and is now trying to throw everyone under the bus to try and protect himself.
Even if you believe Starmer that he didn't know (not possible) he has completely lost control of the civil service and that has allowed the security of this country to be compromised so he could put his friend in a position of power and give mandalson access to top secret information.
All.of that is before we look at the rest of Starmers lame duck premiership. The man and party are not fit for power, they are turning us into an authoritarian country with speach being policed in dangerous ways and are driving our country into bankruptcy just as every other labour government has in history. Some of us on this site are old enough to remember when we had to be bailed out by the IMF dur to labour mismanagement and are watching on in horror as history is repeating itself again.

The whole labour party belong in the bin

raisinglittlepeople12 · 19/04/2026 09:16

He is facilitating the genocide in Gaza by providing information and weapons. He’s also pandering to Trump, whose an actual dictator. All while doing nothing to help British citizens. I am surprised you’d think that’s fine
