To think no one can SERIOUSLY want Starmer to go now, it’s media created instability designed to damage the UK.

trump, wars, Israel invading Lebanon, US mid terms…….

it would mental for Starmer to go and it’s a trap.

yabu - of course Starmer has to go, despite what is happening in the world right now.

yanbu - time to move on and deal with trump and the blatant manipulation of the media by Russia, right wing billionaire interests.

Anyone.

My neighbour’s cat would probably do a better job.

Maybe Larry the cat? He’s familiar with Downing Street already.

I think Kemi Badenoch and her pals should be careful what they wish for.

Yes, lots of people respond like this, but no one will give a sensible answer. Why not?

Kier Starmer is a hypocritical, sanctimonious prig.

He is now being hoist by his own petard.

Yep

About 642 of the present 650 MPs.

Who is one of the best of them though?

WildLeader · 20/04/2026 14:23

Kneenightmare · 18/04/2026 18:00

The constant attack on Starmer makes me think I dreamed the 14 years of total Tory failure and corruption, destroying the economy through austerity, Brexit and Truss and Kwateng helping their mates to cash in on our misery. Democracy means accepting what people voted for. Many of us had to live with that for 14 years with our heads in our hands watching the UK become a joke on the world stage. All you Starmer and Labour haters have had to put up with him for less than two years so suck it up. If Kemi or Nige had been in charge we’d have blindly followed Trump into war and things would be much worse.

100% this!

So the party decide that Starmer is the right man for the job. He spends years becoming that focal point. He leads a party of 400 people. Why should they replace him with someone who is an unknown quantity in these difficult times? Who is it going to benefit other than the opposition? An opposition who are not in power because they proved thhey were fucking shit at the job in the first place and have ample opportunity to come to the table, show they have good ideas and win votes in the next election.

Instead they spend every waking hour trying to smear campaign everything.

Its like living in the middle of the News Of The World newspaper back in the 90's. Grow up and realise that we need to become smarter and promote good policy over everything else.

Labour did the same when in opposition. They used whatever to get in. Now Starmer is up against it.

Labour have more than 400 MPs.

If they really don't have anyone that's good enough to replace the guy whose own advisers thought it's best he doesn't get told that he's lying, and he never asked if what he's saying is true, then we need a General Election very soon.

There are some weirdly unlikely comments on this thread.

Why should any opposition party support Starmer? Why should any voter support Starmer? Why shouldn’t any newspaper or broadcaster ask difficult questions and cast doubt on Starmer’s account?

If it’s all about stability we’d do a lot better by getting rid of Starmer the walking disaster area and give a chance to someone different who’s hopefully more stable and reliable.

If it’s all about stability the civil service and No 10 would work a lot better under someone who doesn’t cravenly sacrifice other people to save his own skin.

It’s hard to see what Starmer brings to the office at all. He’s useless.

But most of all, how would Labour behave if one of their political opponents was mired in the same dodgy circumstances as Starmer’s created for himself? Why should anyone listen to a defence of Starmer by supporters of a party that’s done all it can to smear and denigrate any opponent?

Or the Gus-GOD who isn't the wrong Gus-GOD lauded the Antonia Romeo who definitely did get the law wrong.

And that what to do with their competence? O’Donnell is widely regarded as one of the most competent heads of the civil service ever.

They got the law wrong.

Yes, we do, but trouble is that the next generation of MPs and ministers will be just as useless as the current crop and the previous crop. It's all the same, whichever party colour, and has been for 30 years now.

A new leader or a new government - someone would have to be pretty thick to think that anything would change.

Breaking: Starmer's spokesman has said he will admit that he "gave misleading information" to parliament but he didn't mean to

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/apr/20/keir-starmer-admit-inadvertently-gave-mps-misleading-information-peter-mandelson

So all that needs to happen is the record will be corrected.

eta: Under the ministerial code, it is only knowingly misleading parliament that is regarded as a resignation offence; ministers who unintentionally mislead parliament are just expected to correct the record at the earliest opportunity.

Point remains. So fucking what?

Who is better placed to replace him?
Would we be stronger if we did replace him?
Would it just weaken our already shit political system?

How about those making all this noise come back with some solutions rather than doing everything they can to weaken us. Its like turkeys voting for christmas.

Codyrhodesisaheel · 20/04/2026 13:30

It's when you read comments like this on the BBC, i wonder if i'm part of some weird twilight universe

The Conservative argument in the Commons will amount to suggesting that Starmer has beheaded more people close to him than Henry VIII - and they hope this afternoon will "hasten squeaky bum time of Labour MPs", as one Tory source put it to me.

Kemi Badenoch will challenge Labour MPs to ask themselves if Starmer is the best they can do, as the government finds itself consumed again by questions about Mandelson as opposed to the consequences of the Iran war, the cost of living and much else besides.

Sorry, but considering the number of Tory PMs we've had in recent years, how the fuck can they say that Starmer "beheads more people than Henry VIII?" And again, how can Kemi say that when she's almost certainly not going to be a party leader by the time of the next election?

As @Tessasanderson says, why can't we be saying "we need someone better because they've proven it in xyz" rather than political pointscoring?

Tessasanderson · 20/04/2026 13:22

Until we see that getting rid of people in this way is killing our politics we havent got a hope in hell.

Nowadays politicians spend more time digging up dirt on their opposition and trying to get each other into trouble than they do on working out good policies that will help our country get back on its feet.

Do you know why they do this? Its because they are all fucking terrible politicians and they know they cant win votes by being good at their jobs.

Lets take this instance as an example. We are in the middle of a fucking tornado of shit at present. We have COL crisis. Oil crisis. Ukraine War. Iran War. All we need at present is another covid type outbreak and we would be close to martial law. Who the fuck thinks its a good idea to go after the PM (Who i dont particularly rate) because he employed a misscrient? He made a mistake or someone in his cabinet did. NEXT.....

Get people out of their position because someone is better and has shown the public they are better instead of this gutter race to the bottom.

Ttntna · 20/04/2026 11:54

I'm a proud member of the conservative and unionist party. Respect all the 2010-2024 PMs (bar Truss) and I think to myself of how many times Starmer called for Boris to resign over party gate. How Starmer always portrayed himself as morally superior and saying he would resign if fined over beergate. If he's found to have knowingly mislead the house. He should go.

Codyrhodesisaheel · 20/04/2026 11:54

The media are bloody toxic and are out for more blood. Remember Teresa May? They're got their sights on Starmer and it's disgusting. I won't buy any papers. They make me sick.

Also this. I think Theresa May was given a poisoned chalice, but she was someone who genuinely cared about doing the right thing for the country, not her own pockets. I think had she been in charge during Covid, we would have had a very different response.

I want a boring PM. I want to be able to just not think about politics for a while.

It's absolutely not normal to be changing leadership every two years. That instability is massively why the UK struggles to make progress.

Both GO'D and AR are Stonewalled and Pink News-lauded QT+ luvvies.

I went down a rabbit hole with this and my search told me:

One search result mentions a "mastery of the media" related to Stonewall, but this refers to a different individual, specifically a "former assistant editor of The Observer" mentioned in a PinkNews article from 2007.

You appear to have the wrong person.
