I work with a work colleague on a one to one basis however I think she’s lied to me about having 2 dogs (she does have 1) as well as to various other work colleagues.

OP posts:

I feel like it might be a good idea to spend more time doing your actual job and less time doggedly interrogating your colleagues about their pets

Neveranynamesleft · 17/04/2026 23:22

Anyone got a scooby doo what's going on ?

KnitWitsAnonymous · 17/04/2026 23:20

Maybe this is the 2nd one

That’s nothing. I used to work with a woman who claimed to not own a cat but it turned out she had one as a child. In another life. Outrageous.

I had a cat as a child and I've got two cats now.

A Broon One and A White One.

Depends on the dogs. Two chihuahua? Easy peasy. Two Newfoundlands? EEk!

OR maybe she has a husky, a cold dog.

And one of these 🌭, a hot dog.

Edited

Don't be unfair so rough (ruff?) on the colleague. All it takes is a Furminator for ten minutes and it's easy to think that you've got a second dog.

There was once a woman from work,
Who claimed that two dogs were hers,
I only know about one,
She must be lying about the other,
It’s such a huge thing to discover,
To mumsnet I came,
To share my disdain,
That lying bitch is surely insane.

Maybe one’s a deceased dog. Is no more. Has ceased to be. Expired and gone to meet its maker. An ex-dog. Stuffed.

Actually knew someone who had his dead labrador stuffed and sat it in the window to ward off burglars.

What a bitch, I have 26 dogs and I hate people who lie about how many dogs they have.

You're lying because I know for a fact that you've got 27.

What is it with all these people pretending they've got one dog fewer than they really have?

Follow her home. Take binoculars. That's sure to go well, and answer your question.

That won't work, she knows the OP, she may recognize her! She should hire a PI!

Yowsers · 17/04/2026 23:11

I heard ones a tiger and the others a wolf.

BreadInCaptivity · 17/04/2026 23:11

Maybe one is a hush puppy?

DDog1 and DDog2?

Did make me wonder if there is one dog but multiple names.

Our cats have their names and a whole load of unique to them pet names that all family know.

Also next door has no dog - but there is always a lovely dog there or being picked up for a walk by one of the sons - it's a relatives dog and goes home - very late and comes very early apparently never seen it. I've no idea why as it's a privately owned house but family do explain a lot to everyone the situation that it's not their dog but a relatives though it's there often at weekends as well - but it doesn't live there just spends a lot of time there. Maybe you found the actual owner of said dog?

Definately a case for Sherlock Bones...

Agreed It’s plain as day!

The old 'two dog' con. A classic of the genre.

Neveranynamesleft · 17/04/2026 22:58

She's definitely leading you on. Don't just roll over and take this lying down.
