See, I don’t pay attention to any of the names on MN so I think I’d annoy any troll like this by being completely oblivious!

Me too, I never note the name, I only read the message. If my posts werent in another colour I'd probably be thanking me and replying to me as well!!!

nam3c4ang3 · 16/04/2026 00:00

Op - are you feeing ok 🤣?! Have you had a bad night or something or were you reading that crazy post about entitled children etc etc. It’s a little bit of a strange post - to also think whoever you’re targeting will care/give a shit/change is a little bit mad…. They really couldn’t give a flying fuck what someone they don’t know thinks… AIBU is not to be taken that seriously. Chill out - and I hope you feel better soon. 🌷

I have thought the same. Fairly new to using MN and so many keyboard warriors that would not say the things on here in real life I can guarantee

No they wouldn’t. Don’t even get me started on the pregnancy/ conception boards where someone posts a photo of a very obvious evap line and there’s comment after comment congratulating šŸ™Œ 🄳 them. Then they do another test which has now come back negative and the poster believes they’ve had a miscarriage, all before they’ve missed their period. My grind here is with the relentless posters who can’t accept that a line on a pregnancy test doesn’t always mean a line and start dishing out false hope

It's good to get off social media generally. I took a month long MN break and realised I preferred life without it, yet still found myself back here because it's a bit addictive. If you're finding yourself on negative threads definitely stay away, ieveryone should avoid negative nonsense online as it does take a toll and life is too short for that. There's some good advice and support here too though, it all depends on the thread.

I’ve been around on here since 2010 and occasionally take longish breaks for my wellbeing. I’ve recently returned and am genuinely shocked at the online bullying, smart-assery and outright aggression & hostility of so many responses / posters. I’m really saddened people now feel they can talk to others in this caustic and heartless way.

I know I can be a bit frustrated and blunt sometimes but the nastiness and casual aggression I see / have been subject to is wild, compared to how people on here used to interact with each other.

It can make the difference between just about coping, and not coping.

I even feel nervous about posting this tbh, as I’m genuinely prepared for some nasty, hurtful and aggressive responses such as the OP has received on this thread. I’m feeling very traumatised from work tonight, and vulnerable in my own severe MH challenges, and aware that opening myself up for the really awful, snide, sarcastic ā€œyou do youā€ and ā€œgo awayā€ and ā€œbore offā€ and ā€œwhateverā€ and nasty emojis will probably make the difference to me tonight between going to bed feeling head and going to bed feeling woeful.

This is just my own experience / thoughts tho, please don’t shoot me down for sharing them šŸ™šŸ»

Edited

I must have joined MN around the same time! Where do the years go?

Sorry about your work stress tonight. I sometimes de-stress with You Tube videos about ā€˜horrible history’ type of nonsense, or chefs cooking badly.

Slightly hoping I might strike a chord with some of the regulars (you know who you are) who are so full of self righteousness, believe they know absolutely everything and have to have the last word. Some of these posters will argue about when your next cycle is. They just love to argue.

You will always get people on forums like this. I often wonder how people have the time to sit on here all day. I had one poster follow me from thread to thread, every time I posted they’d quote me, be quite nasty and they were a well known poster on here. I never responded to them. Not engaging and starving them of the attention they crave works for me, I don’t have my notifications enabled so I don’t see whose quoted me unless I go back to read a thread I’m on. I do think some people haven’t grown up from being the mean girls at school and can only assume they must live a pretty shit life. As I said before if the internet is affecting you it’s probably best to take a break.

Well I’m now giving you my attention. Kind of revolving isn’t it, therefore the attentions needs to keep coming, hopefully like I will be later too

And you didn’t need to tell me that. I know I didn’t need to. I wanted to. I had a moment of entitlement and I’ve learnt from the best on here

These flouncing off posts only get you the same negative statements aimed directly instead of choosing, you know.... Not to engage

TheAutumnCrow · 15/04/2026 23:00

There’s a Flouncers’ Corner board for this very kind of thing.

But there are 20 years worth of people still waiting there for somebody to notice they’re in the process of leaving.

I think the constant name changing makes this forum a lot worse than it could be. No one has to stick around and be accounted for what they say, they just go on different threads and change their username.

Having said that, I have been on several threads where the OP seems genuinely in need of help, and the majority of posters who have replied, offering help and advice, has been good to see.

Smartiepants79 · 15/04/2026 23:33

What makes you think any of the people you’re talking about care??
There is one straightforward and surefire way to solve your problem- get off mumsnet! It’s not compulsory or a legal requirement. Just go and find something else to do that makes you feel happier.
Sticking around, out of choice, on a website that is negatively affecting your mental health is bonkers behaviour.

SimonQuinlanksWeakLemonDrink · 15/04/2026 23:33

But…name changing renders your flounce message pointless as nobody knows who is leaving! Bye bye anyway, hope you feel better soon.

If you think adult women are going to suddenly become sweet as sugar because they were scolded by an internet stranger, you have a lot to learn about human nature.
