AIBU to ask DS16 to wear lighter clothes in spring

It's spring and it's getting warmer, yet DS16 is still dressing in a black puffer jacket and black tracksuits. I've been telling him to stop wearing dark clothing at this time of year like a gangster but he is refusing to listen. AIBU to tell him to wear different clothing?

Having same battles with my teen for the last 2 years. Worries me so much because they look boiling!! But it's a waste of breath.

Done worrying now and leave them to it (once I established they're actually fine, and aren't trying to hide self harm, eating disorders etc (I do tend to overthink!!)

I'm sure the next phase of wearing not enough clothes will arrive before long and will have that to worry about!!

I would offer to pay for some new lighter (in terms of warmth) clothes but just about it. Teenage clothes don’t come in variety of rainbow colors - black is actually the most popular. So be realistic and pick your battles.

I can't imagine he's gonna listen, might as well save your breath 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes, YABU, he's 16. He gets to wear what he likes.

It won’t work so you might as well save your breath.
