my boyfriend just sent me this photo of himself, but why does it have a heart at the bottom?

I’d leave a man immediately if he sent me a posing selfie.

DrFoxtrot · 08/04/2026 19:22

@Sidebeforeselfit appears at the side for me - on an iPhone, if that makes a difference. Photo attached might take a while to show.

No that function appears at the bottom of a message you want to forward- not at the side

It's at the side on mine

Dragracer · 08/04/2026 19:04

Have you uploaded the exact picture he sent or have you screenshotted it? The picture you've put up is a screenshot of an original picture message. Not a screenshot of a screenshot.

The ‘forward’ symbol is there for any photos on WhatsApp, isn’t it? So that you can click it and forward it if you want?
It just looks like a heart message with a photo that he’s sent to you, but if there’s a big back story about why you’ve jumped to thinking he’s sent it to someone else, maybe you need to rethink your relationship as you don’t trust him.

I know this is a repeat of PP but I also would like confirmation if that's an arm or......

Has anyone gone to help him? It looks like he’s trapped his willy in the fridge door 🙈

Sidebeforeself · 08/04/2026 18:40

What’s the forwarded symbol for then at the side OP? Did it look like that when you got it in which case its been forwarded to you?

Ah I hadn’t spotted that!

MarshmallowsOnToast · 08/04/2026 18:41

The heart isn’t part of the screenshot, that’s text he’s added to the picture as a message to you.

But the volume bar on the left of the image shows the image itself is a screenshot. Not sure why that might be though..

L0bstersLass · 08/04/2026 18:33

It really isn't. He's sent her a picture and added the heart emoji as his message. The heart is not a reaction, it's the message.

It’s definitely a screenshot.

FFS now im hungry and want a beef dinner.

😂 it was so good! The massive gap on the plate was to make room for my mountain of cauliflower cheese 😍

Sidebeforeself · 08/04/2026 18:14

You can tell its a screen shot because of the image of the volume at the left hand side I think.

LuckyAzureBird · 08/04/2026 18:01

The first reply was spot on, not sure what some of the other replies are on about. The message you received at 17:29 was "❤️" and it had the picture attached.
The easiest way to verify this yourself is simply to tap the picture. It will show it in full screen (without the text in the message - in this case the heart)

I’ve just trialled this with my own boyfriend who is in the house with me and thinks I’m now randomly sending beef messages.
I added the heart in the message bar and it sent along with the picture.
So he’s sent it directly to you 😁

FeetupTvon · 08/04/2026 17:56

Yep, I’d be concerned too. It’s a screenshot of a photo he has sent someone.

whiteumbrella · 08/04/2026 17:30

Sorry, I meant that it looks like a screenshot with a heart.

That’s exactly what it is.

There are so many people on here who aren’t clued up on social media. So frustrating.

What he’s done:

He’s sent a screenshot to you via WhatsApp. That’s all obvious.

The screenshot shows:

Boyfriend (BF) receiving a message from Unknown person (UP). If he sent it to someone else it would sit on the right side of the screen, not the left.

UP has sent a picture of BF, to BF. Followed by a heart emoji. On what looks like Instagram DM, Facebook Messenger or iMessage.

BF has then screenshotted this. And sent it to you on WhatsApp.

CleanandLight109 · 08/04/2026 17:52

I would be worried about him as it looks like his arm is trapped in a freezer. The ❤️ is to tell you when they find his frozen body that he always loved you.

canisquaeso · 08/04/2026 17:39

It’s definitely a screenshot.

itsmeits · 08/04/2026 17:38

Eh?

Yep LTB only way to be sure

I see what you mean- it does look like that.

Goodadvice1980 · 08/04/2026 17:37

It looks like he added the ❤️ under the photo.

Are you naturally suspicious and paranoid or has he given you cause to doubt him?
