AIBU to imagine what other posters look like from their posts?

Do you conjure up an image of what certain posters look like? If you do what do you base that on?

IABU....because I am judgy like that.

Thank you, my grandsons do say I am not a normal nana...and I think they mean it as a complment.😎

Interesting the age demographic on here.
I imagined (before I started posting regularly) the majority of posters to be between 35 and 45, but I see quite a lot of references to times gone by that I can certainly relate to, which makes me think quite a lot of MNetters are 60 plus....like me.

Absolutely, I think it’s a case that the users have grown with MNs as opposed to the site attracting loads of new users. Even the school offer days threads are so much quieter now vs when I was posting on those threads.

Im in my 40s and feel like a “younger” poster because so many of the references are before my time.

I notice it more these days like on the thread about parents who were in their 60’s but they were being spoken about as if they were ancient!

I always picture people (women) as being medium build, average height, longish hair, well groomed, 30s (unless stated otherwise). Then sometimes I look at the diversity of people I see on a regular day and wonder why I never assume they look like some of those people.

I must say, I sometimes read a thread and think the person must be very young as they sound so immature (usually a relationship issue) and then they may say in a further post they're 40s or 50s and I'm like, what?

I tend to think some posters will be found in the M&S ladies fashion departments.
Tuttutting at all the old-fashioned 'new ins', asking who the hell would be seen dead in that?

Or maybe that's just me.😯

With blue eyes and long auburn hair. I see you in a nice long coat and wooly hat jumping in a mountain of leaves. 2 children and a handsome husband who adores you. Lives in a semi-detached with nice neighbours. Works from home with a cockapoo. Drives a mini/beatle as you are shit at parking but husband has a big car to take the kids and dog out in! Also addicted to chocolate 😂

That sounds like a lovely vision, thank you.
However ...my eyes are brown and my once long auburn hair is now white...I went au naturel in lockdown....and it's quite liberating. The one son is now two grandsons, and they are grown, but still daft enough to kick leaves about (as am I)
No dog, no mini beatle, and husband and I share a rather old Audi convertable, but he does all the driving down to my lack of parking skills

You are dead right about the neighbourhood, the husband, and the chocolate....are you psychic??😆

I don’t actually, but I always find myself being surprised when a regular poster divulges something about how they look, like saying they’re tall or BMI, and I will think “hmm, didn’t picture that” and yet didn’t really picture anything! Finding myself doing that on the current big feet thread running 🤣

There’s one poster who always posts very negatively- she’s the only person I have a picture of. In my head she’s mousy, with small specs, and pursed lips. Her confidence in her opinions is only online; in real life she’s passive.

Weirdly I don’t do this on here but absolutely do with all characters in books. My user name is the same as it’s always been ( I’ve name changed temporarily when something could be outing but always switch back).

here’s another outing post - I look like Mariska Hargitay. I have Italian heritage and I’m even stopped and told it by strangers ( usually ‘you look like that woman off csi’) whereas I think I look more like Kat Slater.

I've just read another thread in Style and Beauty and imagined the OP is a 14 year old, based on their posts being heavy with abbreviations, b instead of be, hv instead of have, bc instead of because etc. You can probably tell from this that I'm older, because it really irritates me when people type like this on a forum.

There is an older woman Reform superfan on here, and I now imagine her as the woman who attacked a protestor at their recent conference. Whenever she posts, I see that woman!
