Easter egg hunt at 6.30am

Both the parents outside with the kids, several kids running around screaming at 6.30am. Do people have no shame?

I get it’s once a year but there’s no need to be out at 6.30.
Absolutely have an Easter egg hunt but even if the kids were up and excited at 6.30 it’s down to the parents to say no to going out at that time. Seems like the parents want an easy life by not saying no but don’t care about how it impacts others.

Rileysp · 05/04/2026 09:32

It probably was too early. But it’s not crime of the century either.

maybe it’s because I’ve young kids, but I don’t think I’ve ever been so scroogelike to get heated about little children having a bit of fun

and isn’t your house double glazed? You must be a REALLY light sleeper to be woken by a couple of kids in a neighbouring garden. It’s not like you’ll have the windows open.

I also don’t see 6.30 as early. It’s a normal time to get up. Maybe you’d sleep better if you had a more regular pattern😂

Hollyhobbi · 05/04/2026 09:31

Triple glazing is the answer! Haven’t raft.

Ah but he may have appreciated a bit of a crowd gathering for the event.

He was up pretty early because the disciples found the tomb already empty and he’d already been sighted by Thomas before word of the empty tomb got out.

Crunchymum · 05/04/2026 09:30

Oh goodness, did this turn into 11 pages of people trying to explain the ""It's what Jesus would have wanted" comment? Shame. Was a pithy little comment and not difficult to understand?

If it was me I'd be feeling so guilty and anxious if I was outside with them for some reason. Do people not feel like that? Or ignore the emotion? Or maybe the children wanted to do it at 6.30am and they have no boundaries.

No because I've got real shit to feel guilty and anxious about. Get a grip.

Honestly? I can see why someone wouldn’t be thrilled but it is a few minutes once a year.

I’m quite weirded out by the differences between Christmas and Easter. People start flapping about getting ready for Christmas in mid November, who is going where for Christmas Day becomes a lot of drama, people spend a fortune and eat and drink to excess. By Christmas Day loads of people are exhausted.

Easter is the bigger religious festival but, unless you go to church, it gets treated as a long weekend with some chocolate. It doesn’t get the all bets are off treatment that Christmas does.

I'm picking on your post because it's the one I've most recently read. Although a garden Easter egg hunt may be 'a few minutes once a year', @AliceAbsolum has said their neighbours are generally inconsiderate with a barking dog and therefore this could be a straw/camel's back situation.

@StMarie4me people aren’t complaining that children had an Easter Egg hunt, they are saying it shouldn’t be at 6.30am.

If parents didn’t hype it up so much children wouldn’t be clamouring to be up and screaming at that time.

If parents didn’t hype it up so much…

are you always this miserable? Honestly?

its a sad world mate if kids can’t get excited about chocolate eggs.

TalkToTheHand123 · 05/04/2026 09:26

It was so inconsiderate. It ruined my cup of tea which I like to have after mowing the lawn.

So do I. 🤣

“Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me, for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

MassiveOvaryaction · 05/04/2026 09:25

Dh woke me up when he got in from the sunrise service this morning (7:15ish). He apologised and then had the decency to bring me a coffee and a Danish. If your neighbours had done that @AliceAbsolum would that have been better?

LauraJaneGrace · 05/04/2026 09:25

If your kids are out making a noise at 6.30 am on a Sunday that is selfish and antisocial behaviour and you are a selfish and anti social parent teaching your kids to be selfish and antisocial.

Why would any parent not be capable of saying " let's leave the outside fun for a little while kids, the neighbours may still be sleeping, let's do something fun inside for a bit and then we'll go out"
Why exactly would that be so hard?

Or maybe it’s once a year and really not that a big deal. If you’re that exhausted don’t go straight on your phone and chill out a bit.

What Tony Blair would have wanted!!!!!!!!!!

If that is not on every thread from now on I will delete my account and go off in a huff. Im going to shoe horn that into every answer from now.

iamtryingtobecivil · 05/04/2026 08:15

But if that’s what time your kids wake up and look to see if the Easter Bunny has been then that’s the time

I've always wondered why an Easter bunny leaves eggs.

Ponoka7 · 05/04/2026 09:22

"That is also what Jesus would have wanted, he had no time for idiots"
Jesus had time for everyone and he explained things really simply (parables).
Traditionally there'd be a outdoor church service at 6sm and the egg hunt is a reenactment of finding the tomb empty, so sadly that deeply religious family next door, has it right. It's just us pagans who expect to sleep.

Megifer · 05/04/2026 09:19

Revoltingpheasants · 05/04/2026 09:07

I am not bothered by it or anything, I just genuinely don’t really get the humour. It’s unrelated so to me it’s like saying something like ‘let’s go out in the sun, it’s what Tony Blair would have wanted.’ I know it’s not quite the same but my brain can’t cope with much else!

You think "its what jesus would have wanted" is unrelated to Easter Sunday?

Shithotlawyer · 05/04/2026 09:18

ah man I'm sorry!

Jesus didn't like idiots, I'm sure.
I just like working out why things are funny - it was a selfish pleasure, sorry!

Revoltingpheasants · 05/04/2026 09:18

I didn’t ask anyone to to be fair. Just a bit baffled at all the posters howling!

likelysuspect · 05/04/2026 09:16

I really really really hate it when people have to explain a joke. It ruins the thread and the joke

I wish people would just ignore the person who doesnt get it.

That is also what Jesus would have wanted, he had no time for idiots.

Revoltingpheasants · 05/04/2026 09:16

That makes a bit more sense @Shithotlawyer . I haven’t really seen much of ‘it’s what X would have wanted.’

Shithotlawyer · 05/04/2026 09:14

I loved that joke, it was a perfect example of the genre as "it's what they would have wanted" is always shorthand for "I'm going to do something I want to do that's wrong but I am justifying it with reference to something you can't gainsay". Usually in relation to a dead relative and some kind of selfish behaviour. So because it's so incongruous that Jesus would like people to eat chocolate eggs, it works. (Though the person who wrote suffer the little children is even cleverer).

I apologise as I have now killed the joke by over explaining, unlike Jesus it won't rise again.
