Both the parents outside with the kids, several kids running around screaming at 6.30am. Do people have no shame?

I’ve said.

one would be deemed anti social behaviour by the authorities. One wouldn’t

it’s that straightforward.

Apologies. The rest of us are just “dimwits” of course.

Why aren’t they? It’s once a year, it’s loud and inconsiderate, it disturbs people trying to sleep. It’s very similar.
Neither are acceptable and both are done by entitled arses.

Who said anything about a massive group of people?

You have a small group 17 year olds next door being loud in the garden at 4.00am because they are in high spirits celebrating a birthday. Nothing illegal, they're just having fun with their friends, it's just one day a year. It's their birthday. But your kids are woken up by their noise.

You have a small group of 7 year olds being loud in the garden at 6.30 because they are in high spirits celebrating Easter. Nothing illegal, they're just having fun with siblings, it's just one day a year. It's Easter. But your family is woken up by their noise.

Both examples are selfish behaviour.
Both behaviours have consequences for others. Both totally avoidable.

And see...I managed to explain all of that to you without any name-calling.

I get to play spot the inconsiderate arseholes who don’t give a toss about anyone other than their family.

quite ironic given your tone. A mirror would do. Off you pop x

You first.

But that isn’t a comparison is it?

the two issues aren’t vaguely similar.

Yes and screaming which is obnoxious at any hour but especially so at 6:30. I do love threads like this though. I get to play spot the inconsiderate arseholes who don’t give a toss about anyone other than their family. Unfortunately there’s a lot of them around so it’s not exactly the most taxing of games.

Ridiculous. And not teaching children to consider others at best. 6.30 is mad.

In my whole life I’ve never known any family get up at 6.30am to do an Easter egg hunt. It’s in no way comparable to fireworks on New Year’s Eve or bonfire night, it’s just not a thing to be doing that so early. Everyone I know who does a hunt does it the house as it’s pretty minging to be putting food outside on the ground for children to eat.

They are exactly the same
Other people's kids having "fun" at a time that suits THEM.

It doesn’t need to be Glastonbury to disturb people. The children are running around and screaming. That is enough to wake people up.

Waitingforthecold · 05/04/2026 10:28

You know that for a fact do you? You’ve got no idea their reason this morning for going out early. People who were woken up with be okay, promise x

Their kids would have been fine being entertained indoors a little while longer if the parents could have been bothered to teach them some consideration. But they weren't bothered, so now their kids aren't learning that they are not the centre of everyone's universe x

Rileysp · 05/04/2026 10:32

Malasana · 05/04/2026 10:30

For those saying it’s only once a year and let the children have their fun, I’d be interested to know if a birthday party for a teen that’s really loud, goes on until 4am with drunken teens standing in the street bellowing would be fine if it’s just once a year?
Or would you all be outraged because your kids can’t sleep?
The parents are rude, entitled arses.

It’s an Easter egg hunt. They’re not putting on Glastonbury out there.

No. I’m quite familiar with it thank you. You try giving a shit about other people for once as I suspect that it’s a novel concept to you. The kids will not spontaneously combust if they have to wait another 90 minutes or so. Many people struggle with sleep and they shouldn’t have to be deprived of it further just because someone thinks that their kids are too important to wait. Other activities are available in the meantime.

The problem is that these people who think they are entitled to disturb other people today at 6.30 think it's just fine to disturb other people at any time, whenever their children/dogs/themselves are having "fun".

It's not just one day of being inconsiderate, it's their nature.

Oh my god yes, there’s 364 other days to teach your kids to be good people. Getting briefly woken up at 6.30 is not the end of the world. Go outside and touch some grass x

It’s perfectly possible to let your children have fun and to be considerate to one’s neighbours, it just means having the egg hunt a little later. Consideration for others is one of the most important things that you can teach children and the best way to do that is to demonstrate it. And if being considerate makes me miserable then I’ll happily claim the title.

Some people are just arseholes 🤷‍♀️

It might not be an unreasonable time for you on a Sunday, but for many people at different life stages to you it is.
I certainly wasn't getting up at that time pre-kids, unless I had to for work and now mine are grown-up I don't get up that early, unless for a particular reason. I would not be woken by normal noise such as birds, but I would be by children screaming.

It’s a normal time to get up.

the bodies rhythm is to have a nap if tired

i think this is the cause of quite a lot of issues, actually.

Which people literally do every year! Which is also a bit of fun and very brief.

if everyone looks around there’s a lot more to be worked up about.

there’s other ways to do it or course, but that’s not what that family did, and they aren’t awful people or unreasonable for having a bit of fun this morning
