Hot cross bun crisis

AIBU to eat another hot cross bun and deprive teens leaving them to starve in their beds ?

I took the dog out this am and the local bakery had hot cross buns newly out of the oven. I have just eaten mine with bacon and a cup of tea. Amazing

Summoned teens from their beds to say that it was ready.

Not a peep ( i know they are awake)

AlbU to eat the extra portions ? I fear that if I do they may stay in bed forever due to their feeble constitutions and lack of bacony, sweet salty norishment

Freshly baked hot cross bun - not toasted.

Slightly stale hot cross bun - toasted.

I'm excited for the bacn revelation, but it's another 2 hours before mine will be ready.

I guess they are a bit brioche(ish) and I don’t think twice about bacon on pancakes with maple syrup, I may give this a go!

I'm sorry (not sorry) but you have hot cross buns toasted with loads of butter any other way is wrong. This is a hill I will die on

I got the last pack of proper HCBs in Tesco yesterday.
I am a HCB purist and only eat them on Good Friday.
It makes me cross when you can buy them aplenty from Christmas Eve, yet trying to buy them on Maundy Thursday is met with wide-eyed horror about leaving it too late.

Anyway, I have a pack of 6. It's just me and DS2 at home, but he's out until this evening. So.......it's gonna be a good afternoon for me :-)

Bacon? This has never occurred to me but I feel the need to try it! Sweet and salt - classic combination.

Is bacon on hot cross buns a regional thing? I did an Easter buffet once & my guests from the South East were shocked that I thought hot cross buns were sweet as they'd usually eat them with sandwich fillings.
Butter or jam here.
YANBU, teens can go shopping & its not as if HCBs are only available today.

That's a 'your guests' thing, not a SE thing!

personally prefer mine with (just) butter..

@Montypig if the other teen(s) is/are still in bed, they miss out!! They n is where the shop is!!

I am just jealous that you have access to hot cross buns. I know I could make them myself but not having shops that I can get them in is sad. Rosinenbrot is not quite the same.

Good salty bacon in a nice fruity hot cross bun, toasted and buttered - yum, absolutely lovely. Discovered it a few years ago, had one yesterday. Lovely!

I'd have eaten theirs too, I have no self control when it comes to a HCB!

I have just finished a hot cross bun when I saw this thread. I have bacon in the house. I am definitely having a bacon hot cross bun tomorrow. It sounds amazing.

The other one appeared - its the siren call of mumsnet.

The did remind me of the croissant crisis of 2014 when I ate one of their croissants in front of them in an anti tantrum attempt ( it worked - shock value)
