Cake-gate at work

EnfysDilys · 31/03/2026 18:43

I made some Easter cakes for work colleagues today, enough for everyone with a few to spare.
One woman ate eight! She cheerfully announced this in front of everyone at lunchtime. This meant not everyone had one.
WIBU next time to leave a note reminding her to share! Or hiding them from her? Or setting an alarm around them …

Ah, they are made of shredded wheat, they are practically vegetables. They are healthy!

She did nothing wrong. She is probably on a health kick.

Are you sure she did nothing wrong? She took so many that not everyone was able to have even one.

Id consider that doing something wrong. Its selfish.

Downunderduchess · 31/03/2026 21:34

We have some similar people in my office, scavengers really. It has to be announced really clearly and loudly that the food is for everyone and to wait until everyone has had some before going back for more. Some people really have no manners.

Catlady007007 · 31/03/2026 21:33

I wonder what 'enough for everyone with some to spare' means?

What is a 'portion'? One? Two surely or three? They are small buns aren't they?

How did many you make OP? And for how many people?

Because if you brought in one for everyone, while its a nice gesture, its not worth the angst of worrying about whether everyone got one or not.

Were they her snacks or ones she’d taken from people offering cakes etc?

Yeah some and some from reps to be shared by everyone not a box of goodies each

I worked with a greedy pig. She squirreled away snacks and had multiple "widdle" breaks to sit on the toilet to eat them. Never once shared. If anyone brought in homemade cakes/biscuits her hand was first in the tin. I found a box of Mr Kipling French fancies belonging to her and I put my finger through each one. I know fucking petty. But for weeks she had a face like thunder but said nothing because it would mean she'd need to own up about her stash. Cake gate was what we referred to the incident as too.

You don’t say!

Sorry, I thought you thought it was ok if she'd done that!

They were Easter nest cakes 🐣 when she announced she’d had eight, a fair few people said they’d not had one cos they’d all gone, she just said she’d enjoyed them! 🤣

I'd just leave it. Everyone knows what happened. No need to make it a saga.

YerMotherWasAHamster · 31/03/2026 21:24

Greedy bugger!
Not even embarrassed about her selfishness.

You should have said I dont find it funny actually, I wanted everyone to have some.

murasaki · 31/03/2026 21:23

OnTheGoSlow · 31/03/2026 20:49

@EnfysDilys she couldn’t have eaten 8 surely? She’s probably bagged them up to take home to her kids! A nice Easter surprise for them.

The OP isn't there to feed her kids.

3luckystars · 31/03/2026 21:22

I think it’s funny! It doesn’t really matter who ate them but really she is hilarious to admit that! She sounds like Eleanor Oliphant.

JulieJo · 31/03/2026 21:22

Next time you make cakes, use laxative chocolate, they will definitely feel the effects if they are a glutton again.
When I was at school, someone brought in laxative chocolate, knowing that one boy would eat most of the sweets!

Ok, please don't do this, the idea is funny but possibly dangerous.

BenedictsButton · 31/03/2026 21:21

Personally I wouldn’t eat eight but I could easily down three. You put them out for everyone, they’re fair game. You should have specified or handed them round if there was any kind of restrictions. I regularly make cakes for work and some people have a few (I don’t keep count) and others don’t have any because some have dietary issues or don’t like cake or are dieting.

Lol! Is she a large lady?

Im a large woman but i dont act like a pig.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 31/03/2026 21:19

I'd tell her to be honest ... are you aware that yiur greed deprived colleagues of just one cake

EnfysDilys · 31/03/2026 21:16

From the way she said it, I presume she had eaten 8, as she said she’d enjoyed them!
I definitely wouldn’t have admitted it!

What a selfish thing to do! Some people are so greedy. DD said they had a pizza day in her office for some international day of recognition. She went into the kitchen and they were all gone as some people had piled plates high with 6 or seven slices. They have no shame.

Just remind her. A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips. Or eight lifetimes in her case.

I don't think OP is suggesting she is a cat.

Helpmechooseausername · 31/03/2026 21:15

Were they Cadbury mini eggs? If so, would it still be considered greedy to eat all the eggs and leave the nests? Asking for a friend...

gillefc82 · 31/03/2026 21:13

Catlady007007 · 31/03/2026 19:41

Are they the little cakes made from cornflakes with mini eggs on top?

If they are, then considering how much some people LOVE mini eggs, she probably took the cakes just for the mini eggs!

I have to say if they had been crisps,I'd have eaten them all before even realising it.

I have to say, I’m not a huge chocolate lover - I’d usually take a packet of crisps over a chocolate bar any day. My ONE exception are Mini Eggs, so I’m relieved they are a ‘seasonal’ treat!

Even so, there’s no way I could put away 8 mini egg cakes, less so have the brass neck to proudly announce it to the office, especially once it became apparent that my utter gluttony meant others missed out entirely.

At least we know what the colleague needs to be giving up for lent…

Droppit · 31/03/2026 21:12

I am simultaneously disgusted and impressed

3luckystars · 31/03/2026 21:09

They must have been nice !

You made them for others so it doesn’t matter who ate them, I can’t believe she admitted it though!!
