DD (22) DH and I are all members of the same gym/health club.
6 months ago, not long after DD joined, she came home upset as a much older man had made some absolutely disgusting comments about women while they were in the sauna (some others were also in there), and then when she got up to leave as she was uncomfortable, he made a direct revolting comment to her.
At the time she raised this as she left with the reception who said they were aware of the man, he had MH issues, and they were “working with him on behaving appropriately”. She came home and told us, and the next day DH went in and raised this again stating it wasn’t an acceptable response and that he didn’t feel it had been handled properly. They then advised us he was banned.
Fast forward to yesterday, DD comes home to tell us he walked into the sauna when she was in there, and she has heard from others he was given a 6 month ban which has now run out and he has been allowed back in. She said he was approaching women to chat and although clearly he has MH challenges, she didn’t feel comfortable so left.

I am quite shocked they have allowed him back given what he said to her, which was vile. I want to email them a complaint as I know I will struggle to articulate myself if I do it in person. Should I?!

Totally ban people with MH issues. How dare they try to share our facilities!

Totally ban men who are making disgusting comments and harassing women. How dare they try to share our facilities! There: I fixed it for you.

Your DD really need to make her own complaint, but it probably won’t hurt if other people make complaints too! Especially if there’s zero remorse and it’s already happening again.

Someone’s mental health is not more important that the safety of women - I actually agree with the poster suggesting 111, or perhaps your local community police officer, ours are great with these sorts of community issues.

Email and report it to 101.
Tell the gym that you are reporting his behaviour and the gym.
Your daughter does not have to put up with this sort of harassment.
Create a papertrail of the repeated instances and complaints.

An email complaint is going to do very little

What might get a bit of traction is reviews on their Google page. Do other members feel the same? If so encourage them to do the same. A well written comment about inappripriate comments to females put in the public domain will get their attention.

Health clubs are far more interested in their potential new members than their existing ones.

Absolutely email them OP. I’d email the CEO directly, and include all the comments that were made to your daughter verbatim, as well as making it clear that he has already started harassing women again. His mental health is not more important than the mental and physical health of all those women. Do not let it slide.
