This is what I’ve eaten over the last 7 days.
Does this seem like too much food to you or not a lot of food?
Female 5 foot 2.

Day 1

4 egg omelette with 2 pork chops and red pepper, sweet corn.
Snacks - half a 900g pack of cheddar cheese and half a 200g pack of mixed nuts spread out and picked on over the day.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 2

3 chicken thighs and 2 chicken legs with some veg.
Snacks - half a 900g pack of cheddar cheese and half a 200g pack of mixed nuts picked on throughout the day.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 3
4 egg omelette and pack of prawns, sweetcorn and spinach.
Snacks - half a 900g packet of cheddar cheese and half a 200g bag of Mixed nuts.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 4
Half a roast chicken picked at.
Snacks - half a packet of 900g cheese and half a packet of 200g nuts to pick throughout the day.
5 cups of decaf coffee.

Day 5
4 fried eggs, mushrooms, an avocado, tomatoes and bacon.
Snacks - half a pack of 900g cheddar cheese and half a packet of 200g mixed nuts.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 6
500g diced beef fried with red pepper and mushrooms.
Snacks - half a packet of 900g cheddar cheese and half a packet of 200g mixed nuts.
5 cups decaf coffee.

Day 7
1 Tin of tuna and salad.
Snacks - half a packet of 900g cheddar cheese and half packet of 200g mixed nuts.
1 bottle of white wine.

2 fillets of salmon with green beans, broccoli and red pepper.
Snacks - half a 900g packet of cheddar cheese and half a 200g packet of nuts.
5 cups of decaf coffee.
1 bottle of white wine.

I have used the term half a pack instead of (450g) cheese and 100g nuts because I thought people would be able to imagine a 900g block of cheese and 200g pack of nuts easier as that’s how they come.
Does this sound like too much food or not enough food please?
I typically eat one meal a day in the morning and pick on cheese and nuts sporadically for the rest of the day.
This is because I need to eat until I’m full or I will still feel hungry after so I eat a big main meal first thing as it works for me and I feel full.
The cheese and nuts are because of a craving for cheese. I love my cheese.

WLI has been mentioned a few times so perhaps that’s an option.
My concern will be that I am already experiencing a lot of hair shredding and I can’t afford to lose any more which I’ve heard MJ can do.
I don’t want to be on it for the rest of my life but I could see if it will get me out of some bad habits and eating normally.
I know it sounds vain to be worried about my hair in the circumstances I’m in but I had lovely thick hair until a couple of years ago when I started to lose handfuls every wash. I could be peri and that would explain it but also it could be diet but I’m sure MJ will not help there.

I take a multivitamin a day but to who asked about water or commented on too much coffee, I do only drink coffee although I hadn’t realised 5 cups was excessive, that’s one and a quarter litre by a standard 250ml coffee mug - recommended fluid intake is 2 litres so probably not drinking enough.
I have one when I get up in the morning and one when I start work, people make a couple more coffees in the office throughout the day so altogether that’s my morning coffee at home I’d say 3 altogether at work and I have one in the evening so no more than my colleagues but decaf because of my ADHD meds and yes I know wine isn’t recommended with them either but l figured life was too short, maybe I don’t want it to be that short though.

What's the point of a WLI when your diet is horrendous?! If you sorted your diet out you could easily lose weight.

I'm 5ft 11 and very active, and would put on weight eating what you do!

100g of cheddar cheese is 400 calories so your daily intake of cheese is well over how many calories a person of your height and exercise level would need. It's not just the fat in cheddar, but the salt content. That's half your recommended daily salt intake in just cheese. A heart attack waiting to happen!!

I will set you a challenge: NO MORE CHEESE! Replace your cheese with salad. Cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes, celery etc... then sprinkle some toasted seeds on top, and a small amount of salad dressing. As much as you want. You will lose a LOT of weight!!!

I think the most unusual thing is that you don’t eat anything sweet, despite binge eating every day. Or do you also snack on sweet stuff sometimes? When was the last time you had a biscuit or some chocolate?

probably already been said but people who drink large amounts of alcohol usually don't crave sugar as they get such a massive hit of it from the alcohol. I've heard that when heavy drinkers go teetotal they often develop a massive sweet tooth

On Keto you're counting Carbs and most hard cheese is zero carb so Yes OP can eat this amount of cheese on Keto... as long as they don't go over their daily Carb count. ....(unfortunately OP the white wine would take you out if ketosis )

Edited

No good bossing keto if you’re dead from excess cheese consumption!

ProfessorBinturong · 31/03/2026 17:43

@ivyball this must all be quite a lot to take in, when it's such a contradiction to your previous beliefs. And many of the suggested fixes - learning nutrition, getting a dietician or eating disorder clinic referral, talking to your GP about it and getting blood tests - while very good ideas, are not instant.

So here are 3 simple things you can do right now. They aren't a cure, but they will help.

1 Stop the nuts. You say it's hard to remove cheese from the house because of your husband's lunches, but you can remove nuts. If you stop eating those, that's 500 calories a day gone immediately, and it may help the cheese spiral. You're less likely to crave cheese if it was the last thing you ate than if you've had something else in between.

2 Put a jug of water in the fridge and a small glass right next to it. Every time you go to the fridge for cheese, make yourself drink a glass of water first. This will help your hydration, fill you up a bit, and give you a 'thinking' break so the cheese eating isn't mindless - ideally you will then sometimes not eat the cheese, but as a minimum you will notice you're doing it.

3 Move. Any exercise is good, because at the moment you're getting none. Once an hour, move. Set an alarm and climb the stairs. Walk around the garden. Work up to walking around the block. Do a squat. Tomorrow do 2 squats. Ideally you want to do at least 5-10 minutes activity at a time, but you can work up to that; start with 5-10 seconds if you need to but be consistent about doing it.

And don't think 'I'll start tomorrow'. Start now. Stand up and walk around your chair.

It's not rubbish - that's an offensive thing to say! Please read www.radiantrecovery.com and get educated. It's changed my life and improved my health, energy, joint pain and cholesterol levels drastically
I'm not saying 150g per day but 30g X 3 per day is necessary to prevent muscle loss, especially for those using glp1

3x30g a day is entirely different to the 120g of protein from cheese op is eating on top of her other meals of eggs and meat. A sedentary woman does absolutely not need nearly 200g protein a day and it isn't doing her any good.

NewGirlInTown · 31/03/2026 16:39

It’s very disordered eating.
Now I know where all the cheese has gone. 😁

She isn’t using glp 1 and there is protein and then there is consuming half a kilo of cheese.

how on earth are people so nutrionally ignorant they think this is ok?

likelysuspect · 31/03/2026 16:33

@KTMeetsTheRsUptown are you saying that total calories are irrelevant if doing keto as long as you don't consume any carbs so that you enter and remain in ketosis?

Thus appears to be what the poster thinks yes. It is shocking. If that’s the case the op wouldn’t be obese and we’d all be doing it.

What muscle loss do you think she is experiencing?

And its a horrible irony that for those of us who are (or were in my case) carrying round a whole other person in weight, actually have very good muscle tone and muscle amounts due to carrying all that around.

Boomer55 · 31/03/2026 16:26

If you’re trying to lose weight, you won’t do it on that amount of calories.

She is not at risk of muscle loss as she is eating in a surplus, so really 80-100g protein would be plenty unless she was weight training. More isn’t dangerous it’s just unnecessary calories.
150g a day is helpful in a deficit when combined with weight lifting as it protects / build muscle.

@EvieBB did you miss the bit where she's drinking two bottles of wine each weekend? And did you miss all the posts pointing out that 450g of cheese and 100g of nuts every day is around 1850 + 500 ish calories, so around 2350 calories per day just on that, before any other food is counted. That is not healthy.

Yes I didn't read the whole thread.....

EvieBB · 31/03/2026 15:57

popcornandpotatoes · 31/03/2026 13:01

That amount of protein for a sedentary woman is absolutely not healthy and can lead to all sorts of health issues. Please don't spout rubbish because gym influencers tell us we need 150g protein a day. Only for weight lifters

You can't comprehend eating 2 pieces of salmon and veg for a meal??
A tin of tuna and salad?
Omelette & spinach?

Suuuure. Granted an entire 500g of beef is a fair amount & probably the worst example in her 7 days, but over a week it's clear her big meals aren't the issue.

I could easily eat 5 chicken drumsticks for a meal. I'm 5ft 3, 135-140lbs and I wouldn't think twice about eating a second meal. You're being dramatic

What on earth, did you miss she eats half a kilo of cheese every day, has 4 portions of beef in one sitting, half a roast chicken, 5 thighs or legs? You pick the two most healthy and pretend that’s whay she does. Missing out the bacon, the frying foods, the cheese, the nuts.

Are you on the KETO diet OP? Apart from the white wine the high fat foods you are eating are all keto friendly. What type of nuts are you eating? Almonds and Brazil are also okay on Keto as well as all the cheese.

Umm no, all this cheese is not ok on keto.

Notsosweetcaroline · 31/03/2026 15:35

BringBackCatsEyes · 31/03/2026 12:50

And I’m pretty sure a decent GP would have many questions before prescribing injections.
Sure she can go private, I just don’t think it’s ideal for OP.

Maybe this is as you don’t understand it? Nearly all wli are prescribed privately, the nhs doesn’t prescribe, unless bmi over 40 and 4 out of 5 health conditions, nearly everyone on it for weight loss is private. The fact you don’t think it’s good for her, I’m not sure is hugely relevant.

TheZingySheep · 31/03/2026 15:26

You need to go back to basics OP. This is not a healthy diet. Too much protein, saturated fat and no fiber. You will make yourself ill. See a dietician or if you can't do that research healthy eating books. Food for Life cookbook - Dr Tim Spector. Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall - River Cottage. Super Foods - Family Classics - Jamie Oliver. There are loads out there... Honestly do yourself a favour - Overhaul your diet and your health will thank you. Good luck OP X

Oh, OP, you don’t need weight loss drugs.

You need a healthy, balanced diet as a starting point.

You are eating too much of one or 2 food groups. Mainly huge amount of meat and cheese. No veg/fibre/nutrients. Your food diary shows only 1 piece of something green over the whole week.

Why not focus on trying to eat 3 balanced meals a day with normal portion sizes first?

You will likely start to feel much better after a month of eating properly. If you find that you still can’t stop snacking, then try WLI’s but at least you’ll be starting from a balanced diet and your hair will have stopped falling out.

I promise you, your hair is due to not eating enough nutrients. I was anorexic for years, my hair used to fall out in clumps. I used to take daily vitamins too. But until I sorted out my diet, my hair continued to fall out.

In my opinion, you have an eating disorder. WLI aren’t for people who have ED’s. Please see someone for ED.

That’s interesting, I used to have what felt like an imaginary sweat when I ate cheese and get a rash on my forehead but when I touched my face there was no real sweat there just a mild tingling sensation and if I touched the rash it would go flaky.
I also have a lot of hair loss which I put down to nutrition deficiency but maybe that’s why I need cheese. I don’t get this now I eat so much of it.

Edited

Cheese isn't going to provide you with a lot of nutrients. You are also doing an elimination diet on your own. Please get some support re your nutrition and what you should be eating for your health - and to lose weight if you need to.
