Do you still have a ‘Hotmail’ email address

Keep seeing this mentioned on social media in videos or posts about being old 😳🤣
I have no plans to change my email but lots of people saying they hate giving their email address to people and having to say ‘@ hotmail.com’
I didn’t even realise new emails don’t still use this…

Hotmail.com from 1995 and still in use as my main email address 🤣
As a pp said, I have found some places don't accept it, so i grudgingly have a Gmail back up

Musicaltheatremum · 28/03/2026 12:37

My husband does. He's 67!!

Svolvaer · 28/03/2026 12:37

I like mine. I’m one of the originals, I even like that mine’s .com rather than .co.uk

I see your Ask Jeeves and raise you HotBot…

I raise you both with Encyclopedia Britannica, definitely hard copy and a tattered Roget's Thesaurus.

Yes. It's not my only email address though. I like having an 'old' hotmail address though.

I'm the same, I have several hotmail, yahoo and gmail addresses! Back in the olden days when Hotel Chocolat did Chocolate Club boxes with the first costing about £6 I created a number of email addresses so I could get them a number of time, similarly other one time offers. Does that make me old? At 78, should I give a damn???

No hotmail but do have a 'catchy phrase' yahoo address instead of my name from the 90s... mostly use my gmail now which is my initials and name but yahoo one still used.

Next they'll be asking if you ever used the 'Ask Jeeves' search engine! 🤣

Yes, with my full name, no numbers/special characters, I'm that old 🤣

Me too 😀 I'm very attached to my hotmail address.

Bromptotoo · 28/03/2026 12:27

forename.surname at hotmail.co.uk set up c2009.

Simple and it works.

FussyFancyDragon · 28/03/2026 12:26

I’ve still got Hotmail and aol 😬 I’ve got a gmail one, but I always think it sounds like a spam email.

starballoons · 28/03/2026 12:26

I have two - full name @hotmail.co.ukand embarrassing nickname at .com

Yes I do and I remember a few years ago reading that it looks unprofessional on a CV 😂 I won’t part with it though because a) I have [email protected] so I like it b) it would be a ballache to change.

why is it unprofessional?

Losted · 28/03/2026 12:23

No, because I got locked out a few months ago due to "suspicious activity" and cannot recover the account despite answering all of their recovery questions correctly

Pain in the arse.

Piknik · 28/03/2026 12:20

I've got an OG aol one. Just my namesurname. No numbers, no hyphens, no underscores. I also have a .live which is nearly as old as Hotmail but I mostly use my aol (along with my original Mercury One2One phone number).

If you claim to work in IT, but aren't rocking your own domain, it raises eyebrows.

Nah. Some of the traffic on my non-work addresses has definitely been NSFW. Never asked them, but I suspect they appreciate the separation of duties.

hellotojason · 28/03/2026 12:20

Another [email protected] here - at least I upgraded from my first Hotmail account where my late teen self thought I was funny including a 69 in the email address....

Same!

IDontLikePinaColadas · 28/03/2026 12:18

Yep and I have no intention of changing it. I also have a work one (self employed) which I use a lot now, but all my personal admin stuff (insurance, utilities, mortgage etc) are all with my Hotmail account. Too much faff to change it after all these years.

OtterlyAstounding · 28/03/2026 12:17

Yes, I've got multiple email addresses, but I keep my old Hotmail one, which I created at age 14, out of sentimentality.

DripDripAprilshower · 28/03/2026 12:17

What should we use instead?

meganorks · 28/03/2026 12:16

Yes. I know it means I'm old! But I also have Gmail ones. One with my married name that is only for applications. Other email addresses full of shite!

Laopi · 28/03/2026 12:16

I switched over to gmail, when I got an invite in 2004, and haven't had a hotmail since, I regret not getting my name.surname at gmail.com though I wasted my invites on some horrendously cringe usernames so I no longer use them, but still use gmail

MagnoliaTreeBlossom · 28/03/2026 12:15
