To be so upset about my wee car?

Had my wee car for 15 years. She's nothing fancy, but she's been a great wee car (I have had several cars previously that have been a nightmare!) But she went for her MOT today and apparently is severely corroded, and the cost of repair is not feasible. I am irrationally upset. I love her so much and I dont WANT a new car (but will have to get one) DH doesn't get it- he changes his car every couple of years.
Am I a conplete nutter to be crying over a car, or has anyone else felt like this?

My previous car was my favourite and I couldn't imagine ever having another car. Until it tried to kill me! OK a bit dramatic but that's how it felt at the time... The alternator belt decided to shred whilst I was on a dual carriageway and I experienced a total loss of power - everything failed. I managed to coast it off the road into a (fortunately very close and down a slight slope) supermarket carpark, no mean feat considering I'd lost the power steering. When the AA arrived the guy said he'd never seen a belt shred that badly, especially as it had only been fitted the month before. He recovered me to a garage and it was fixed. But I couldn't trust it after that. Illogical and irrational I know. So I traded it in and have loved my current car for 10 years... So there can be love again after loss.

I've had my wee car since 2009 and I feel your pain! I dread the day my lovely garage man tells me it's got something that can't be fixed.

My very old car has a name and I often have to encourage him to keep going, praise him for his efforts etc.

Each MOT is fear-filled with 'is this the time he can't go on?

My partner traded in a car we had had for 8 years and I sat on the floor in the dealership and cried, I liked that car so much.

so, no, you aren’t alone!

(the dealer did somewhat desperately promise to find her a good home and actually rang me to tell me when she was sold! Poor man…!)
