I have quite a specific example.

I have a family member who saves photos from my social media page, saves them and then posts them onto her own page. (Without permission.)

It has been driving me nuts, even though it’s so petty!

What about you?

When I ring my friend and her DH always answers. I’ve asked her why this is, she says it’s because he’s quicker to it than her.

TofuGoblin · 27/03/2026 06:36

My husband, when he says "yeah, that's what I was thinking" when he clearly, was not just thinking that

Me: Why don't you wait til the end of the week to wash your white shirt rather than including it in a dark wash. It can go in the white wash with the school shirts on Friday

Him: Yeah, I was just thinking that (whilst stuffing his white shirt in the machine with a load of dark clothes...)

American pronunciations that seem to creep in:
Debris - UK English should be debb-ri not d-bri
Adult - should be add-ult not a-dult
Don't get me started on schedule 😂

No idea why it bothers me so much.

Missiles - miss-isles (UK) mis-ulls (USA)
dont Start me on aluminium

The change in pronouncing proven, from Pru ven to pro ven it really really gets my goat.

What? Where?

Surely not 😱

It is and always has been pronounced pro-ven in scotland so maybe you are just meeting more scottish people

People who rush to walk in front of you and then walk very slowly. Its rude and pointless.

Likewise, a car that overtakes me on my bike coming up to a junction when they can clearly see there's a queue of traffic then stops dead in front of me blocking me when I could have safely cycled up to the junction.

and a car sandwiching themselves between me and a car coming in the opposite direction. So impatient. Saves them precisely a nanosecond.

T-shirts in M&S, H&M, primark, etc etc etc, emblazoned with ‘San Francisco’, ‘Chicago’, ‘Florida’, ‘Harvard’, yes it’s a cold, grey, rainy day in little Britain, it’s pretty grim actually, but do I have any ambition or inclination to be in the US right now?, for the record, NONE whatsoever. Message to designers and manufacturers for UK markets, the dream, it’s over, STOP IT.

Ive noticed a lot more Italian and French names and have found myself avoiding American names for the kids, it may not do anything but hopefully clothes makers get the message- I don’t want any of us wearing anything that promotes the us

Supermarkets that have loads of people stacking shelves but no or hardly any checkouts open.
In a lot of supermarkets there’s checkout people and floor people- they’ll have different people hired for each-.

Not petty at all - more like infuriating. I have a similar grievance with a friend who steals memes from my Facebook page and reposts them on her own, without leaving me so much as a 'like'. Gets my goat!

To all those people irritated by opening the blister pack at the leaflet end - why don’t you just chuck the leaflet in the bin the first time you open the packet?

Nonbio46 · 27/03/2026 03:27

People who wear rucksacks when they’re not on a hike. Especially when in shops where they take up more than half the aisle.

People who wear odd socks.
People who don't wait their turn in a pub.

Scottish, and over sixty. Always said , and heard proven as pro ven. Not a new thing here at all.

It depends on the tablet size to some extent. But I am baffled by people pushing the tablets out through the foil to open it . . . . . .

Use your nail to slice it open, and it just pushing out easily with no issue at all. This works in general, but once you get to tiny tablets then there are other issues.

I like pushing it out. It’s a small pleasure.

People who knock the door even though our Ring doorbell is clearly visible.

People who start a sentence with "myself".

Anyone who parks nose in.

Anyone who parks nose in at an angle and takes up two spaces.

I second this Ring doorbell issue.
I work from home and regularly have delivery drivers and our regular Royal Mail post.
Most times they are beating the door like they are paying the rent even though the doorbell is clearly visible.
Sometimes I have missed a delivery as I couldn’t get down the stairs in time or haven’t heard it if I’m in a Teams meeting. Just ring the doorbell so I can see it on my phone!!

Other petty aggravation is that DH will buy something on a coat hanger and hang the item off a door downstairs rather than take it upstairs. I now clock how long his fabric decor stays there (we leave internal doors open) and so far his record is about 2 weeks.
Because I’m petty I leave the item on the door rather than take it upstairs myself.

SevenYellowHammers · 27/03/2026 01:29

I went for a jog earlier and there was a woman standing in street wearing a tacky animal print dressing gown, pyjamas and slippers smoking a really smelly spliff. I huffed and puffed and let her know the smell offended me. I am now really irritated by my sanctimonious attitude!

That's exactly what I do! I slice the foil open with my nail and attempt to gently ease it out, but it often doesn't work! And some of my medications are soft caplets which often end up squashed!

I have no idea how people with very arthritic hands manage. I assume they request pre-filled dosette boxes from the pharmacy.

shouldicontactthisperson · 27/03/2026 01:16

The school mum who doesn’t use a rain cover for her pram, even when it’s pissing down, so her toddler is always soaked. Same mum never wears a hat or waterproof coat, always a long wool coat and I’ve seen her completely drenched quite a few times. We live in a cold, rainy part of the UK and she seems otherwise nice and sensible. I wish I knew what she was thinking!

ToWhitToWhoo · 27/03/2026 01:10

People standing over me and watching me in the kitchen, or anywhere where i am doing anything that requires eye-hand co-ordination. I have co-ordination disabilities, and all such activities require absolute concentration from me, and people standing over me are at best very distracting and disturbing, and at worst make me feel as though I'm failing an exam.

Endless roadworks and pavement works that make the pavements less accessible. And of course anyone who parks on the pavement, or leaves their bike in a way that obstructs the pavement.

People who try to find out when my birthday is, and won't believe me that I hate my birthday and want it forgotten.

Blister packs are a nightmare! The damn tablet either doesn't want to come out or pops out suddenly and rolls along the floor. I then have to try and find it in case the dog decides to eat it. Then when I do find it, I struggle to pick it up due to my disability. My supplements though, which I usually get from ebay, come in large bags, so are much easier to access.

People who use the word unctuous to describe food. It makes me feel sick.
Looking at you Marcus Wareing.
Thought he'd know better

Bertiebiscuit · 27/03/2026 00:21

The light from people's phones in the dark at the theatre or cinema, so distracting

Bertiebiscuit · 27/03/2026 00:19

Any eating noises on public transport, can't bear crunching, also hate to see snogging or hear noisy kissing on public transport, has to be fake, no one feels passionate on the tube or an escalator ffs

Bertiebiscuit · 27/03/2026 00:05

Most food packaging these days. I need sharp. Scissors and a knife to get into groceries and still often manage to spill milk, dried goods , break biscuits etc etc just to get past crappy packaging.
