Lighthearted- What petty thing(s) bother you?

I have quite a specific example.

I have a family member who saves photos from my social media page, saves them and then posts them onto her own page. (Without permission.)

It has been driving me nuts, even though it’s so petty!

What about you?

God yes and pointless Teams calls are even worse.

I have a colleague who calls incessantly to ask a question which an email could have sorted. Without checking if I am free.

He invariably prefixes this by saying: “Could have emailed but its so much easier to chat.”

No its not, its wasting valuable time which I could use to be getting on with work.

I hate pointless calls, I find myself getting really fidgety. Also if you finish a call early and someone says 'ooh we still have 20 minutes left, let's talk about this other random thing as well'. That makes me cross.

BiscoffCheesecakes · 26/03/2026 17:27

People who use unnecessary capital letters. Eg my Mum, my Sister, the Teacher, Spring, Summer, happy Birthday etc etc

Thepeopleversuswork · 26/03/2026 17:27

Teenagequeenwithaloadedgun · 26/03/2026 17:09

Also people who insist on a call that could be a quick email, call you to talk about their email, or message 'hi' without saying what it's about and you know it'll just end up with you getting more work.

I live in a cul-de-sac, literally 4 houses up from the turning circle. For some reason, every single neighbour, delivery driver, and guest uses my drive as their personal turning circle, rather than drive down past 4 houses. Drives me batty. My WFH office faces the drive, and I literally watched two cars do it within a span of 10 minutes this afternoon. I cannot let it go. I don’t know why. Probably because it’s rude and entitled AF.

People who start a controversial thread and never come back to it despite hundreds of following posts.

Getting pills out of blister packs - really hurts my fingers as Ive got arthritis and takes forever to get teeny tablets out of several packs for a weekly organiser.

Mothers day flowers from M&S dying after just over a week. I bet they were expensive too.

Me wanting to treat myself to 'something' but cant find any tat I like on Haul or Temu.

Blister packs are a nightmare! The damn tablet either doesn't want to come out or pops out suddenly and rolls along the floor. I then have to try and find it in case the dog decides to eat it. Then when I do find it, I struggle to pick it up due to my disability. My supplements though, which I usually get from ebay, come in large bags, so are much easier to access.

ALittleBitofWensleydale · 26/03/2026 17:15

Facebook posts that say, "I want to say hello and show a photo that I took."
It drives me to madness, despair and sweary shouting. Seems to be an absolute pandemic of them.
Futile! Pointless! Irritating!
In the grand scheme of things it may seem small.....but to me it is not!

Shmee1988 · 26/03/2026 14:26

People who go and watch the likes of 'Shrek' or 'Cinderella' in December and declared it 'christmas panto'!!! Its not christmas panto, its panto at christmas. Gives me rage

Um what?

Cars with flat backs.
Lorries in the middle lane.
Influencers.
Socks that slide down.
Cold feet.
Noisy chewing.

Mumberjack · 26/03/2026 17:04

WhatsApp voice notes. I am just as busy as you. I do not have the time to pick up and listen to your drivel. Type a message

estrogone · 26/03/2026 17:02

The list is long.

Dawdling or stopping dead in a flow of foot traffic. Just walk.

Braking hard in the car because you are impatient and cant keep a reasonable distance.

My husband with a head cold.

Doof doof music in cars on full volume.

People who cant recycle properly. No, you cant put plastic bags in the recycling bin.

Leaving your manky old shopping list/bit of lettuce/used tissue in the bottom of the trolley (just take your shit with you).

Performative parenting - look Johnny its an A-P-P-L-E, let's spell that again (Johnny is 6 months old).

Dogs in prams.

ClippyMuldoon · 26/03/2026 17:02

When I order the next book in a series and get sent one from a different edition. No no no.

This one is for the haitch and gotten haters - I can't stand the word 'Mummy'. It sounds twee and grating to my no doubt uncouth Irish ears. See also tummy, poorly, horrid, 'bless' and 'oh my days' (shudder). 😁

Newsenmum · 26/03/2026 17:01

when you get a missed call and they dont leave a voicemail or text

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 26/03/2026 17:00

People who quote the whole, often lengthy, OP in responses. We've all read the OP! We know what you are commenting on! Especially when multiple posters do it in the same thread! Can they not just say "in response to the OP" if they think there is doubt?

TheKateColumbo · 26/03/2026 16:56

People who take tiny shortcuts saving about three second so a path ends up being worn in the grass when there is a perfectly decent non muddy foot path just centimetres away.
People who put dirty dishes in the sink.
People who order a bacon sandwich then have open it and use their fingers to dissect the fatty bacon.
People who say pots when I would say pan. Mumsnetters are always making huge pots of soup, chilli or ragu it’s probably me who’s in the wrong and it is a pot not a pan but I don’t care!
People who spell Weetabix, chilli as in con carne and telly wrong.
People who post “I asked ChatGPT and then post a really long AI post”

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 26/03/2026 16:51

My eldest teen is addicted to watching TikTok rubbish at full volume sped up so there’s incessant background fast talking until I tell them to
turn it off or go into another room

shellyleppard · 26/03/2026 16:49

Opening a pack of tablets and getting the leaflet end every time

The leaflet is at the end where the expiry date/batch code is, so just make sure you open it the other end ☺️.

Edited

I feel like you have just changed my life!!

TheEasterBunny3 · 26/03/2026 16:38

Personalised number plates where they have misplaced the letters/numbers to say something.

Really irritates me - just follow the bloody law on it.

And just say this as someone with a personalised plate but displayed correctly as per the law.

Really petty thing to get annoyed about but it winds me up!

TroysMammy · 26/03/2026 16:34

People who hold their phones in front of their face to have a conversation. In fact it's a pain in the arse when the person you are speaking to has hearing loss and don't get annoyed that you have to repeat yourself a few times. Also why do it whilst standing next to a busy road and/or outside on a windy day? You're the problem not the person on the other end of the phone.

trousers/leggings/knickers that keep slipping down
blouses that are the right size but gape open showing your bra
bras that start off underwired then end up with the wire poking up the middle part usually without you knowing but everyone else sees it first or into your arm pit
yes clothes annoy me
