Just heard this in live interview with Defence Secretary.
Apparently they can reach us in 4 hours.
Are they lying??

So why not criticise Iran and what its done in the region? All the harm its caused?

Because that’s not why Israel and the US initiated this “war”. I won’t be the puppet of any regime I’m afraid.

The commentators said that when Iran fired at the Chagos Islands that's further from Iran than the UK and Europe. Hopefully we have good air defences.

We have essentially no air defence capable of shooting down an IRBM or ICBM.

There seem to be so many “existential threats” these days. A cynic would say it’s paranoia at best and megalomania at worst.

That doesn't even make any sense.
And, no, only Iran poses an existential threat to israel. It has stated its aims very clearly. They have taken steps to implement tbem. Why on earth would Israel not believe them.
It's not like Jews haven't learnt from history that if someone says they want to wipe you out, believe them.

Ah yes we're all just imagining it. Let's follow starmer's very weak approach of sticking our heads firmly in the sand! That'll do it!

It really does make sense. And I’m not defending any regime - I am criticising Israel and the US. There’s this crazy notion that one does not need to be for one thing in order to be against something else. I am not a rampant tribalist.

Your posts ignore the torture, brutality and oppression by the IRGC on their own people. And the threat to the UK should they get the right weapons, they won’t return the favour of your support.

People who care about Gaza don’t have to pretend the Iranian people are not being murdered and oppressed by their own gov.

Israel is saving itself from.the existential threat posed by Iran.
Hopefully a consequence of this will alos be the freedom and liberation of the long suffering iranian people. We can only hope that this happens, they certainly deserve it.

Israel has killed nearly 100000 people in Gaza, the majority women and children. It's mass murder.

And arguing 'they started it' is infantile here. No-one can say 'who started it' in the Middle East without travelling back to pre-history. And even then there would be no easy answer.

Nothing justifies October 7th. Nothing justifies Israeli mass murder of Palestinians. The latter has killed a hundred times more people than the former.

Well, that's a lot more than the actual number reported. And we could also mention the 30000 murdered by Iran of its own citizens. Or how many Arabs were murdered by Iran and its proxies in Syria?
But, if we want to bring Gaza into.ot, let's have a look at Irans role in 7/10 whcih was the event which precipitated the catastrophe in Gaza.
Imagine what Gaza would be like now if iran hadn't been desperate to prevent normalisation of ties between Saudi and Iran.

I hope not as I live three miles from Fairford Air Base!

This doesn’t make sense as an answer. The IRGC are a threat to the U.K., you are defending them so I’m wondering why.

So executing other peoples’ children is fine?

Yes, having little children shot in the back as they run away or try to collect aid is perfectly fine.

Palestinians do have the right to life as did the Israelis on Oct 7th. Blame hamas.

Anyway, Iran.

If they do launch ballistic missiles at the UK will we have to go cap in hand to Trump or will Nato air defence be sufficient I wonder.

In reverse order..if aimed at the UK, no it almost certainly will.not be sufficient...

...And given ballistic missile flight time Iran -- > Western Europe is well sub an hour (I still have zero clue why 4 hours keeps being mentioned) there won't be much time to do anything with caps..

I'll emphasise IMO I think the above is unlikely.

There’s mounting pressure did the U.K. to proscribe the IRGC as the EU, Sweden, Canada, Australia and other comparable countries do, going by SM propaganda they should get on with it. It’d be illegal to promote them.

Have we had parades yet, people supporting the regime? OAP intifadas demanding we welcome the Mullahs and Ayatollahs they're just naughty boys and misunderstood?

Exactly. Suicidal '72 virgins in paradise' lunatics do not make for a peaceful outcome.

It is crazy how some hang onto the propaganda about 'war mongering' Israel when they are doing what everyone should be doing, stopping lunatic extremists attacking us. 'Yeah but no but the UN said Israel are baddies' Confused.
