AIBU to want advice about dealing with entitled school mum?

There’s an infuriating school mum at my DD’s school.
She drives through the village to the school every morning above the speed limit. Lots of kids around and pedestrians and pushchairs etc.
She often parks on a grass verge with a No Parking sign. Her child passenger gets out onto flowerbeds.
One time she parked half on the pavement and opened her car door onto a passing school dad and his daughter. He told her she’d done it and she just said “no I haven’t”.
The school have put out repeated reminders not to park on the school’s neighbours verges and she still does it.
She complained her son didn’t get a big enough part in the nativity in Reception.
Her DS does seem to do disproportionately well out of school play parts and church readings and competitions. I suspect the school is trying to appease her.
She went into the school crying dramatically saying another boy was bullying her son. My DD is in both their class and told me it’s her son who’s nasty to others. Another couple of school mums told me that was their experience too.
She accosted the other boy’s mum in the playground telling her to “sort it out”. Very confrontational.
She complains on the group chat that there aren’t enough facilities at the school (play equipment for example) or school the events put on aren’t well organised. She complained about the food at the school disco.
I saw her park in the parent and child space at the supermarket when she was alone.
She comes across as rich and entitled, if anyone says anything to her she just denies any wrongdoing and has a go at them. Her husband enables her, at one school event he went up to the headteacher and was clearly expressing his displeasure about something, kept on at the poor head for about fifteen minutes. No one else could speak to the head as he monopolised their time.
Due to kids ages I have this family in my life for years to come.
Does every school have one?
I have her name and number and address and car registration if you’ve got any suggestions for teaching her a lesson!

It hasn't helped that for decades now films and TV dramas have prioritised featuring behaviours like this and cheeky wise arse kids as they're more "interesting". Thereby "normalising" this sort of behaviour.

Take a couple of pictures as proof and check the local council website for details of how to report her terrible parking.

canuckup · 25/03/2026 20:04

If she's actually doing something illegal, call the police

HorrorPudding · 25/03/2026 20:03

The school can buy big signs our school has them to block were she is parking. Contact the police report reckless driving, and give the reg in. Their is a parent in my sons school like her and her child have main character energy and he gets picked for everything

We have one. Lives in the village. Less than a 5 min walk to school yet loads her 3 dc into her huge car (that she can't park).. Parks in a private car park at the end of the school lane.. Any school productions etc she uses the teachers car park.... As she got herself on the board of governers.
A few years ago she asked the Head to allow a collection to take place for her dh to have a private op. I nearly choked laughing when dc insisted he needed 2 pound for the fund. I told him to advise the dc to tell his dps to sell a car or their mobile home.

My older DC went to a bit of a rough primary and some parents would stand smoking at the gate meaning you had to walk through a cloud of smoke, I had a baby at the time. I complained to the head teacher who said he hated it too but couldn’t do anything because it wasn’t school property (he could have had a word or put it in the newsletter but whatever!). So I basically complained to OFSTED and a few weeks later a big no smoking sign went up on the gates and the parents stopped.

How in the world have you been able to notice all that she does? My DC goes to a very small village school and there’s no way I’d be able to notice all that about another parent unless I was actively stalking.

PollyBell · 25/03/2026 19:56

Ahe sounds horrible because the op has written her post that way if she is speeding report that if a friend came to me with this i would advise to get back to work or get a hobby and stop acting like they may have been when they were 12

We only know the ops version this person and the intensity it is written seems biased

Have you watched Motherland? This woman is literally Amanda.

Monolithique · 25/03/2026 19:53

There was a dad like this in the DCs junior school. The rule was simple - parents must not drive through the school to pick up their DCs. That route was just for school staff.
Plenty of other parents parked in places they also shouldn't have but at least outside school grounds.

Every day he drove through the school. He didn't care. He was an irritating fucker.

BigGra · 25/03/2026 19:51

Why do you have to teach her a lesson ? Has she done something particular to you or your family ?
She sounds like a bit of a tit, every school has one, just ignore her.

Aren’t there schemes where local police lend out hand held speed cameras ? I think for awareness only but still could be done…the right people would lap it up

The parking and speeding issue, I'd get the local police involved and speak to the school to ask they put it out in their newsletter.

The bullying of other kids, well, I'd do nothing until it affected my child. Sorry to sound so harsh but the school are not going to let you get involved until it becomes your issue, unless this child is disruptive in class, then I would have to get involved and say something.

Monopolising the headmasters time, well that depends on the complaint. The parent might have a valid complaint.

Lack of resources and equipment, I'd tell the mum to join the PTA and come up with ideas for fund raising. Schools have limited resources so many items need fund raising to purchase. My child's school spent loads of money on new playground equipment but this was through sheer hard work and dedication from the PTA.

Unfortunately, there will always be one or two parents who spoil it for the rest.

User8457363 · 25/03/2026 19:40

Start an affair with her husband.
(Just kidding...or not?) 😆

gamerchick · 25/03/2026 19:36

Have a word with the school and ask them to contact the council to get the traffic wardens in.

Then stick around to watch. The most entertaining school runs are the ones where the traffic wardens are dishing out tickets to these people.

Auroraloves · 25/03/2026 19:34

Why isn’t everyone in this group chat calling her out? Is she parking on resident’s flower beds?
