Forks are female and knives are male

And spoons are female too.
Or is it just me?

I also think letters and numbers are gendered and some of them have quite specific personalities. Eg. Both G and H are older matriarchal women.

I am aware I am coming across as an absolute loon.

What?!

Yabu

Sunday is deep egg yolk yellow. Monday is lemon yellow. Tuesday is blue. Weds is green.

This is similar to what I get except my Sunday is orange. Monday is acid yellow.

ChillingWithMySnowmies · 22/03/2026 20:28

the only thing i know is i don't trust wednesdays. It's a fence sitter and can't make its mind up if its a mon/tues sort of day, or a thurs/fri sort of day.

Way to bring down a fun thread.

Sporks!

How has it brought it down? It was a joke

CoheedandCambria · 22/03/2026 19:02

Wow, it's clearly blue and not just cos of Blue Monday. It just is.
Tuesday is yellow

Its red to me, and Wednesday is green. Agree with yellow for Tuesday tho.

Footle · 22/03/2026 20:18

Sunday is sunflower colour , yellow with a fierce dark centre. Monday is light green, Tuesday darker green, Wednesday yellow/green, Thursday light purple, Friday warm earthy brown, Saturday blue/grey

Well, in French, you are correct ☺️

It’s always annoyed me that an angel is male.

GlomOfNit · 22/03/2026 20:14

Monday is red.

I went to see Derren Brown the other night. The audience had to choose yellow or green and after the result he did a monologue about free choice and how he had determined who the audience would vote for etc. Now I absolutely LOVE Derren but was he aware that, no way in my entire life would I have ever voted yellow, because it was my primary school nemesis's favourite colour and I have a deep aversion to it because of that! And it is associated with even numbers, which mildly disgust me?

Lots of his suggestion/mentalism doesn't work on me because I have a very strict order of favouritism for letters and numbers. I would never pick any even number, I would never pick certain letters. He would combust befre he made me utter '8' or 'H'.

I find it strange when people don't have favourites...I can't imagine not being numberist/letterist 😆 It's such a visceral feeling.

Monday is purply-blue, tuesday is orange, wed is yellow, thursday is green and smells of bleach, friday is purple, sat id yellow and sunday is orange.

People with long, thin noses are Thursday-people.

saltandlineker · 22/03/2026 20:05

Thursdays and October are definitely the same but they are even and cool/blue/purple. Wednesdays and Mondays are odd and Red/orange/hot

Owly11 · 22/03/2026 20:05

Monday is blue, Tuesday is yellow, Wednesday is green, Thursday is colour unknown, Friday is red, Saturday is white and Sunday is black.

Other way round. Knives are female, forks are male.

Handeyethingyowl · 22/03/2026 20:02

Nooooooooooo, the best thing about English nouns is no bloody gender to remember!

tightfit · 22/03/2026 19:59

Also 2 is yellow and 4 is blue! 😀

WhyWouldYouNotWatchASquirrel · 22/03/2026 19:57

In German, spoons are male, forks are female and knives are neutral. 😄

Nibbits · 22/03/2026 19:56

You're all wrong about Saturday, it's white.

I thought this as child too.

So did I.

Mummyratbag · 22/03/2026 18:59

No, but Monday is pink.

Wednesday is pink for me! Numbers have colours too!

BertSymptom · 22/03/2026 19:54

Thursday is brown for me and so is October. They give off the same energy. Weirdly I don’t get strong colours off all the days and months but I’d say both Tuesday and April are yellow.

I do tend to think of letters and numbers as soft or spikey. All even numbers are soft and odds are spikey, obviously, but letters are less simple. No use to this whatsoever I just feel the vibes I guess.

Nibbits · 22/03/2026 19:52

Mummyratbag · 22/03/2026 18:59

No, but Monday is pink.

Nooo, I've always had colours for the days of the week and for me, Monday is royal blue.

Angelicake · 22/03/2026 19:51

ShortButSure · 22/03/2026 19:02

Well, cats are girls and dogs are boys, so…

I thought this as child too.

This threat of unexpected visitors is going to trigger anxiety in half of MN.

But they can always just decline to open their front doors.

According to my grandmother who was very superstitious, if you drop a knife it means a man will visit, dropping a fork means a female visitor and if it's a spoon you'll be visited by a fool. So you're not far wrong Smile

Wednesday is red in my eyes. And I like it when Christmas falls on a Wednesday - it feels right.

Yes!!! I have always felt that Wednesday's are red. I think the knife & fork gender is a thing (as many posters agree) but I'd forgotten that for years.
Thank you for this thread 😊

PyongyangKipperbang · 22/03/2026 19:42

In the Terry Pratchett book Snuff, Sam Vimes' son's imaginary friend doesnt like Wednesdays because they smell funny.

I concur.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 22/03/2026 19:42

Monday- slate-blue
Tuesday- orange
Wednesday- greyish blue but brighter than slate
Thursday- brown
Friday- bright red.

The colour of the first letter of a word determines the overall shade, but every letter has got it's own colour.
