Speaking in the oval office yesterday, Trump mused about taking Cuba. Historians 50 years from now are going to have a field day with this guy.

with Trump their is a common pattern - china

He’s basically starving Cuba out and then he will take over it it’s to close to America to have another country take it over

Cuba used to until a few weeks ago get a tanker full of oil from Venezuela each week at for free that basically kept the country running - without it they have nothing
Cuba and Venezuela were very close allies

But apart from the tourist industry cigars and rum they don’t have much to barter with

when Trump got Marudo - he told the new president that they were no longer allowed to send oil to Cuba and if they did he “wouldn’t be happy and would put up the tarrifs so they haven’t sent any oil for weeks

He know that Cuba has strong links to Russia in the past but he also knows that Russia won’t help Cuba as they are at war with the Ukraine

with Venezuela they have unlimited amounts of oil - more than Saudi but they have very limited infrastructure to get it all out They should be one of the richest country’s in the world due to the quality and amount of oil they have

Venezuela were going to do a deal with China to set up the infrastructure to get the oil

Trump doesn’t want china that close to America and having control over all of that oil
so he took Marudo out
although he did initially say that Marudo could go peacefully but Marudo refused So Trump took him

Iran - exports 80 - 90 percent of its oil to china
iran has been trying to get nuclear power for years so I doubt very much it’s about preventing Iran having a nuclear power
more that they send oil to china and Trump doesn’t like that

but he like Putin under estimated what Iran would do he thought drop a few bombs and they would fold
just Like Putin thought would happen in the Ukraine

I'm going to enjoy thinking who else we can put on that island.
Andrew Tate?
Farage?

Oh yes please!

Also in the spirit of the maniac who inspired this thread - I think we should start calling it Coobah!

Amanda Holden and Ant & Dec. Well maybe just Ant. Dec is not too bad when he's not in a double act.

“The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.”

Charles Bukowski

I wonder if Bukowski ever wondered if he was wrong when he said that.

Can we just put him on a remote uninhabited Island and tell him it’s Cuba?

Like Christopher Columbus. He thought Cuba was China.

Yeah, Bay of Pigs didn’t go very well!

that was down to Kennedys fault

So how wonderful is the place now? Wasn't this tried about 60 years ago already

Yeah, Bay of Pigs didn’t go very well!

Psychosislotus · 20/03/2026 11:26

Hopefully this is a wake up call for America. The people there really need to get a reality check.

I honestly don’t know what it will take.

Probably.

He thought a carriage ride around the King's gardens was a great honour, only given on state visits.

Actually it was so that protesters couldn't be seen and heard.

randomchap · 20/03/2026 11:19

The important thing is no one is talking about the Epstein Files now

Thousands of deaths, economic chaos, but that's OK as it's a distraction from the fact that Trump was good friends with a paedophile.

CarbGoading · 20/03/2026 10:32

Mainly because of economic sanctions. We'll never know what Cuba could have looked like given economic freedom. And I say that not as a communist apologist, but as someone who would be genuinely interested to see how different economic models play out if allowed to.

A lot of US tourists to the UK would buy (and smuggle) Cuban cigars back to the US.

Probably do the Cubans a favour. That place is a mess.

The way he is going, it’s going to be the US v the rest of the world! WTF are the other branches of govt doing?

Jon Stewart on the Daily Show read out the part of the Declaration of Independence which sets out the list of grievances against George III and ticked them off against the actions of Trump - very eye opening!

The US was founded by a bunch of tax dodging elites who conned some of the population into rebelling under the guide of "freedom" - except for black people, naturally.

In unrelated news, the Reform manifesto about how a bunch of tax dodging elites want the white population to fight for "feedom" will published soon

Hehe - really??

Maybe someone should do America a 'favour' - as it's basically all going to shit

Cuba is in a mess because of the US.

Spaghettea · 20/03/2026 10:09

He already bored with the mess he's created in the Middle East (to distract from Epstein) so he's moving on to somewhere else.

Before or after Greenland? 🤔
He seems busy with Iran right now.

His own belief in himself knows no bounds.

The places the US have trampled on to bring "freedom" are a mess, to put it mildly. Women in Afghanistan can't even sit at windows in case they're seen by men. There are slave markets in Libya. It isn't a favour to be invaded by the US.
