to be appalled by Trump’s comments about learning disabilities?

I probably am being unreasonable since this is a president who starts illegal wars, supports genocide and protects pedophiles.
But today time he is also talking about the 20%+ of his beloved Americans who may have some kind of learning difficulty.

What I found interesting is that he sort of ended the comment with a reference to it being a horrible comment or a horrible view.

So he knows its not right?

I think it's more he knows that many people will be outraged by what his views are but is saying them anyway. The amount of times I've heard "I know I'm/it's horrible to say/think this but... (followed by ignorant or/and derogatory view or statement about my childs disability or us as parents to a child with a disability)" it's like they think saying they know it's a horrible thing to say somehow will make it sound softer or not make us mad about it. So it doesn't really suprise me he said this either.

Probable paedophile. Confirmed sex offender. Likely involved on sex trafficking. A criminal warmonger who is getting grotesquely wealthier every single minute his reign of destabilising madness continues.

"Takes over" an oil nation and deposes the leadership and less than 6 weeks later goes to war with an oil superpower. Its not rocket science.

Honestly, as distasteful as his comments are, they pale in comparison to his other disgusting, evil diatribes.

The man is clearly senile, I just hope he shuffles off this mortal coil before he goes something that cant be undone.

He has destroyed the country and the world.

He doesn’t deserve a Presidential funeral or anything that late POTUS have

As to put his name on the Kennedy Memorial Center was vile.

Yanbu as it is appalling for anyone to hold awful views about someone's disability or difficulty. However I am not at all surprised that Trump is the type of person to hold these kinds of views.

Yes. Agreed.

Also the assassination attempt in July 2024 was staged.
. No scar on his ear
. Bodyguards wouldn’t have let him stand up and punch the air just in case a potential assassin in the crowd .
. Blood splatter doesn’t go with the shot plus blood didn’t darken (oxidation)

Trump acts like a petulant child. If things don’t go his way, he doesn’t listen. Like sticking fingers in his ears making la la la noises

veggietabless · 18/03/2026 10:51

I don't think people with narcissistic personality disorder should be president but here we are arsehole.

How did they go from Obama to Trump?
It's like night and day...Obama, elegant, dignified, gracious and articulate to someone who can't string a sentence together and uses words a toddler would use.
They do Trump well on Radio 4's Dead Ringers...

Social media propaganda. Vast, vast sums of money have been spent on getting Trump into power, by the same people who got Brexit to happen and are now funding Reform.

He has no sympathy for any disability of any kind. He insulted that disabled reporter in public, mocking him. He cut off healthcare funding from the family trust to his nephew's disabled son. Trump's nephew said Trump suggested letting his disabled son, William, die rather than continuing to pay for his medical care. When asked for help with mounting costs, Trump allegedly told his nephew, "I don’t know. He doesn’t recognise you. Maybe you should just let him die and move down to Florida"

Nothing this vile man says surprises me anymore. It seems like he has no bottom.

What have I just read...

Surely 77 million people can’t be that thick!

It's also partly religion. Conservative Christians are a huge voting lobby, and they vote Republican. Absolutely no question, you are a Republican family, a Republican church, and you would no more vote Democrat than stop believing in God.

I think it's difficult for people in the UK to comprehend just how much influence the church has on life in the US.

Not remotely surprised.
Well, Trump apologists?
crickets, whilst they all silently agree with him because they are equally repellent

He is Vile.

Edited

Saying/doing 20 vile things a day is just a normal Tuesday for him. Did he not discuss a politician's health at some press conference only a few days ago, randomly mentioning that said person only had a few months to live?

Yep

"America was born out of people with extremist, isolationist, one dimensional religious views, lacking in tolerance, feeling blamed and victimised, paranoid about 'the others'. The mentality has not changed."

And feeling entitled to 'Living the American Dream'.

Well its not exactly a walk in the park and can impact a person's ability to function massively.

Edited

But it doesn't make a person any more deserving of derision or dehumanising language, that's my point.

As an American who lived his first term in the US and then left for Europe, Trump is only a reflection of a much deeper problem—the deep roots religion has in US society. Unfortunately, there are a lot of Christian “non-denominational” evangelics who hold pretty distopian beliefs. I remember going to church with my exH once (he was quite religious) and the pastor saying “you have to help people less and pray more”. People who are part of these churches also believe that all they need to access salvation is to believe in God—it doesn’t matter how evil you are and what good/bad deeds you do in life, so long as you believe, you’ll go to heaven. If you don’t believe, regardless of how good of a person you are, you’ll rot in hell. This goes against all I have learned under my own (Catholic) religion, but they are literally brainwashed and have other very dangerous thoughts (men should be the only ones leading, universities brainwash people to be liberal, we should have no compassion for people who cross our borders illegally regardless of circumstances, we should not help the poor, etc.). All very frightening and unfortunately very widespread throughout the Bible Belt/Midwest/South. So regardless of whether he’s in power or not, the problem is there is a large segment of the population who think are morally superior to the rest despite being uneducated and morally bankrupt and holding repulsive beliefs.

Yes, I try to make this point on every thread about this sort of thing, it is an extremist mindset no different to some of these ME countries that we are all concerned about being really fundamentalist and extreme.

America was born out of people with extremist, isolationist, one dimensional religious views, lacking in tolerance, feeling blamed and victimised, paranoid about 'the others'. The mentality has not changed.

What’s the tangerine twat said now?

I do not understand how any American with a modicum of intellect could have voted for him. Last week he commented about dead people walking around with their legs blown off. I despair.

He's one of most awful stupid self serving people to ever exist.

However I don't believe many Americans voted 'for' Trump. They voted for the Republican Party. I've heard it said that politics in America is a sport. You have a 'team' and you support your team come hell of high water. Yes, he has his rapid supporters, but many more voted for the Republican Party than specifically for Trump.

I don't think most people in America would be overly upset if he dropped off his perch tomorrow.

My father was dyslexic. He was also a world class expert in his highly niche scientific specialism. Trump is many dreadful things, best summed up in the acronym POS.
