Nothing for Mothers Day (first as a single parent)

It’s Mothers Day tomorrow and I have a bad feeling that I’m not going to get anything this year. I’ve celebrated today with my mum, dad DC. Done a buffet and baked a cake and we all had a nice day. I had hoped to see my teen tomorrow but he’s doing stuff with his mates all day which is fine but it looks like nothing has been organised with Ex, no cards though the post, teen didn’t come down with a card or anything today and my youngest wouldn’t be able to organise anything himself apart from a card in school.

AIBU to have expected ex to have organised something? Sent a little something through the post or a card etc?

For those of you who are separated, does your ex organise anything on Mother’s Day?

He’s your ex. It’s not his responsibility.

Yes, YABU. He’s an ex. You don’t need to do anything for him for Father’s Day, either.

No, my ex has never done anything (well other than the first year split when he was hoping I'd have him back...). My DC is small but has made cards at nursery and I'll be happy with that.
I'd expect a teen to be able to get you at least a card with their own initiative though.

Very unlikely for an ex to do something. Most of them cannot manage to do something even when they are not an ex. I would be disappointed that the teen is old enough to go out with mates all day, but not capable of sorting out a card and some chocolates or flowers.

It would be nice if your ex had organised something but amongst my single parent friends there is only one who’s ex does do this, the others don’t.

If teen is old enough to be out all day with mates then they are old enough to have sorted something for you though.

Gosh, I’m sorry but I would never in a million years expect an ex to organise something for Mother’s Day! Your teen might surprise you but if not, treat yourself.
