Just a general lighthearted one. Not aibu. Tell us something surprising, shocking, gripping or funny about someone you know personally , or an experience you had , or a famous person. Without giving anything away.
I've said this one before but....I know a very very well loved tv actor who is absolutely vile IRL. Im not going to out him but your jaw would drop if you knew..
Also I once lived in a place where a woman and her husband were upstanding members of the community, prominant locally, liked being respected, true blue types. They loved pronouncing on who was right and who was wrong in all situations. One day she told me conspiratorially and with great glee that they thought they'd been shafted financially by a local business bloke, so one night they put sugar in his petrol tank and slashed two of his tyres. I was young at the time and completely shocked.
Finally, in the C of E church in my old village where I grew up there were a bunch of smiley 'upstanding 'regular churchgoers who didnt like the new , slightly happy clappy vicar . He waa modern, and kind and seemed to care about the poorer people in the village . Rather like you'd imagine Jesus might have done. So the nice upatanding churchgoing regulars orchestrated a smear campaign against him and didn't stop until they'd made sure the vicar had had a breakdown and hadcto keave his post. It was.such a lovely, kindly village .🤣

We are both mildly ashamed of hiding chocolate, so neither will ever let on that we have found the other out. He buys mini eggs, which I don’t like, and I buy Crunchies because he doesn’t like them- part safety feature, part politeness. It would seem the height of rudeness to hide a Twix, for example.,

😂

Im imagining your home full of secret hiding places crammed to bursting with chocolate and both of you sneaking around at night and waking up wirh brown smears all over your faces.

I have an unpaid role in an organization that people have to pay A LOT of money to join
Honestly? I wish I didn’t know.

Why are you working an unpaid role you don't even like in an organisation that could clearly afford to compensate you well?

Because I don't have to pay full dues for me and my family. For a few hours a week, it's more than worth my time. Financial assessment of new members is just one part of it (it's not actually a country club, btw). Mostly it's about ensuring the longevity of the organization, financially but also in terms of its ties to the city and county, compliance with laws, supervision of management etc. I enjoy the role, especially the compliance stuff which most people find excruciatingly dull and are happy to offload onto me. It's related to what I used to do when I worked. I just wish I didn't know so much about my friends' and acquaintances' finances.

I know a US actor who came over to our town for an event and while there send one of his team out to get drugs, the team member returned within the hour with a wide selection of drugs. I’ve lived in this town for over 30 years and wouldn’t have the first idea where to get drugs from. I still wish I asked them how do you do that, they all live in the US and had never visited this town before. Is there some kind of network you can tap into to? Not that I want to buy drugs, it just intrigues me how it works

If you're from out of town you can just ask around brazenly because you're going to be gone soon anyway so there's no blowback.

I live abroad so different rules apply here, regulation is low and light touch, not at all like in the EU and European countries.

I have an unpaid role in an organization that people have to pay A LOT of money to join - sort of like a country club. It’s part of my job to assess the financial viability of applicants, to confirm whether or not they have the means to pay their dues. It’s a small area, there are only two or three such organizations, and people tend to go where the facilities best suit their needs which tends to be decided along lines like location and facilities. As a consequence, people in the same circle tend to gravitate towards the same place.

I know ALL about many people’s finances: their salaries, investments, properties and their valuation, pensions, monthly credit card statements, who their advisors are - everything down to the last penny. Everyone knows that I have this information, everyone knows I have this information about everyone else in their organization.

Honestly? I wish I didn’t know. It’s not a burden as such, but it certainly makes you see people other than as they present themselves.

@Rhubarb24 - I know that you are angry that I called out your post. Credit to you that you have had it removed. However, you're still being unpleasant, offensive and your claim is vile. Please retract it.

I'm not angry about anything. It was not a big deal.

I'm not retracting anything. You said what you said. And it was odd.

It has the ring of inauthenticity.

The rich Christians in the village hated the poor people and when a lovely vicar (like Jesus!) who cared for the poor came along, they worked to get him out because like all Christians, they didn't care about the poor.

They were nasty evil moustache twirling horrors who threw crusts out of their Rolls Royce windows for the huddled poor begging for food and who drove over the foot of the Jesus like vicar, as he-a victim of their evil plans-waited at the bus stop for a bus to take him away- armed only with a plastic bag of belongings and the knowledge that Christians were shits.

He knew he must convert to a purer faith.

Or something like!

I know I have enough saved to retire whenever I want. My employer doesn't and thinks they can keep piling on the pressure, giving me more to do and not paying me market rate. One day very soon I am going to tell them where to stick their job. Sure, no one is irreplaceable but I am already doing 3 people's work while trying to recruit to replace them and supporting several others, so I know how hard it is recruiting the required skill set. Most of the critical projects are in my team and anyone stepping in to take over won't know them like I do for at least 2 years. There will be delays, which will materially affect the company value.

That's absolutely appalling and I'm not sure why you've used the laughing emoji!

I work with the biggest tool of a man I had ever met in my life. Obnoxious, brash, loud and totally shit at his job. He was married and used to bring his wife into work every now and again she seemed like a lovely woman. Anyway he started having an affair with a woman he had met whilst out and made everyone aware of all the sordid details, taking her on holidays, letting us the details of his sex life - totally unprofessional and like he had won a prize. I set up a fake FB profile and told his wife, his life imploded when she chucked him out and like in The Traitors he has no idea who told his wife. He is pretty sure it is somebody at work and hates us all but it has been a joy to watch the total prick fall from his perch. Of course it is not his fault but that of the person who told his wife. Nobody else in the world knows it was me.

not all heroes wear capes 🥰

Yes, I just can't get my head round why people, who claim to be Christians, would destroy someone like that. It's evil.
That and the AA one I think have been the most shocking on here.

Yes they were not nice at all.

I know a huge amount of secrets but people tell me things because they know I won't tell a soul (except my dog). Sometimes I do think 'please don't tell me' and sometimes I really have to push them to tell someone else (eg when something needs action). But I do love knowing!

I love that your dog knows all the secrets. But are you sure you can trust your dog not to spill the beana.

The very well connected Irish businessman I worked for back in the day used to travel to London regularly and arrange for escorts to visit him at his hotel. He considered himself and his family to be pillars of the community and I'm sure his lovely wife had no clue. I found out completely by accident and was so shocked I left shortly afterwards as I couldn't look him in the eye. He was a cunt, anyway, an absolute bastard to work for. I've never breathed a word. He's retired now, he'll be in his 80s, and I wonder if he's still up to his old tricks.

It's pretty awful. However I added the child abuse one as I'd forgotten to do so. It's the worst. Which I'm sure you worked out..

On a lighter note - I knew when my Fiancé was going to propose to me. He didn't know I knew and I had to act completely surprised. I wouldn't tell him as it would upset him, he had put so much effort into it. I was still blown away 😍

Same! I also knew he was going to do it in a place I didn’t really want it to happen so engineered that day so we would be in a better place 😂
