Is something about to happen?

I’m a fairly anxious person, so it could be that, but I keep seeing on different Sm planforms, people saying it feels like similar to before covid lockdown and that something is about to happen.

Does anyone else feel this?

... well we are finally getting the acknowledgement of the recession that's breed lurking for a while.

.... we are in a post war situation, whatever anyone thinks.
.... and yes, prices for basic things like food, fuel and housing have not peaked yet and won't for some time.

Very lucky not to have that worry. I did fix my energy prices for another year last Monday morning, though. The fix was pulled by Tuesday morning, so feel fortunate.

The best gift I gave myself was to stop listening and watching endless news and analyses from talking heads and doom mongers.

OK, I get the headline news every morning and avoid going any deeper into it, but I keep up with the basics.

We will be told to put our heads between our knees and kiss our arses goodbye if it ever reaches that critical juncture. That'll be enough news for me.

It's amazing how light life can be if you ignore most of it. It will happen anyway and there is damn all I can do about it as an individual is there?

Yes, I totally agree with you. It's so incongruous isn't it, how we plod on? I guess we can't really exist with this level of horror - our brains would fry if we properly digested it each morning.

I was thinking What is the fucking point? as I sorted out my recycling while Iran's oil fields are burning. Life is madness right now.

Yup, we are here drinking through paper straws while the US and Israel are setting the Middle East on fire.

Inflation is probably going to sky rocket thanks to the gruesome twosome Trump and Netanyahu but at least we don't have toxic rain falling down on us like the people they are claiming that they are saving do.

Wars and global disruption has been going on since humans had a system of separate kingdoms/countries/states

You just happen to be living under this particular set of circumstances.

But not enough to send our economy into a spiral as we can see now

Well, countries are starting to impose fuel price caps (South Korea, Croatia, others to follow). Should this get protracted, it MIGHT lead to fuel rationing, due to supply/demand issues, 70s style, so getting stuck wfh due to lack of transport options is conceivable. There's a few parallels to Suez crisis here.

Mortgages are going to sky rocket and whereas 2 weeks ago we were in a rate declining environment we’re looking at rate increases now.

I dunno how to feel other than sad. I know we can't do anything about it. It just feels like senseless killing at this point. Wake up and another city has been bombed, more casualties, more lives lost. It feels lile everyone is becoming desensitized to it. "Its the cost of war". Kids starving to death..."not happening here so not our problem"
Its absolutely disgusting. The absolute gloating and boasting over world leaders, (the arse kissing) - makes me feel sick. How can anyone have such admiration for a president who can barely string a sentence together and can barely make time to honour your dead?

This reminds me of a few years ago, when a friend was visiting us. We were driving back to our house after an outing and two ambulances went by, with sirens and lights going. Friend immediately said anxiously "Has something happened?"

After rolling my eyes because 'how the feck would I know if it had?', I replied, "There's a huge hospital with an A & E dept about 200 yards further up this road. Oh look, we're about to pass it."
