I agree. Everyone I know is posting on Facebook less and less. They are slowly destroying their own product. I can’t quite work out how this is financially viable but there we are.

DDs dance school runs their entire business (badly) via fb groups. It’s the only reason I visit these days.

I joined back when everyone had “walls”. 🤣

They are posting op, but FB is more interested in showing you ads and recently posts by "influencers" disguised as real people, that it's killing the golden goose. Like friends reunited, my space etc it will fall off a cliff and we'll switch to something else.

I have to regrettably agree. I have around 75 'friends' and around 55 of them I know in real life, (they are friends, family, and neighbours, and several work colleagues.) The other 20 are people who used to be penpals, or people I met on games I was playing a few years ago - like Farmville.

When I post, (pics usually) I get between 18 and 23 'likes.' So over 50 people are not commenting or liking - or probably not noticing as they are not on there often. I got 30 happy birthday comments/greetings for my last birthday. So around 45 people didn't acknowledge it. Then again, I only acknowledge about 25 to 30 peoples birthdays during the course of the year...

I do have a few people in my neighbourhood who post every day, and they post photos of their kids and grandkids, and how wonderful and special and clever they are, and to be be honest, it's been getting on my nerves, so I have recently 'unfollowed' them (not unfriended,) so their bloody posts stop coming up on my timeline.

The grandparent ones are the worst. Several women on there post every single bloody bastard day about their grandchildren, (put at least one or two pics of them up nearly every day too, and I'm not sure how I feel about that.) They even post that they wish they'd had the grandchildren first/before their children etc, and strongly hint they prefer their grandchildren to their actual children.

Of course you do. You're not responsible for them, and you only see them when they visit, and look after them for a few hours at a time. Stupid fucking comment that is - honestly! 🙄

The grandkid bores are the most tedious IMO. Worse than the parents crowing about their kids!

I also get sick of the shit adverts - and spam. 'You'll never believe what has happened to Martin Lewis!' And 'it's so sad what Gordon Ramsay has come to...' If you click on the articles, it's spambots, and the 'news' is fake.

I keep Facebook though, for contact with people who live far away, and I enjoy communicating with about 2 dozen people on there. Plus I have 18-19 years of memories and photos on there. (Many of them from when my kids were young, including day trips, holidays, family events, special events/life events. So I'm not deleting Facebook.

The level of drunkenness on some US planes is unreal. Trying to get them down the airbridge is often a huge challenge for the cops. I can't understand how the gate staff let them on in the first place! Always Spirit and other low cost carriers, but maybe the more ahem... better class of carrier won't allow filming to be broadcast - I dunno.

But yes, glad to have a fellow traveller who secretly enjoys this kind of stuff!

Never for "friends" etc. but hell yes for groups and local information. Instagram can go do one, the clips are so short, full of damn influencers and a crock of total shite. Deleted! Same with Tik Tok.

Endless scrolling was taking me over. Now I connect with others on FB who have similar interests etc. to me. I'm not a young one anymore either, so that could be a factor!

I know a few friends who use it. One friend has a few accounts (she was hacked) and we chatted by Instagram message recently.

Facebook's been rubbish for YEARS. I deleted mine ages ago. I'm 40. Also recently left Instagram as they openly allow loads of hate speech on there, loads of misogyny etc. Nothing ever seems to fall foul of their rules when reported.

When I look at it, it just seems to be endless BoredPanda stories lifted from Reddit (and sometimes from here). Plus a shitload of AI slop.

The abhorrent algorithms won't help.

Agree that in my circle (40s) its dead, but I see a lot of my friend's kids using it (20s) for professional reasons like promoting their work, and even my niece (teens) using it to share their artwork, so its interesring to see the demographic and use change! I think people don't use it like a daily blog anymore, but good riddence to the 'look at my dinner' and 'everyone's a snake' posts 😂

Same here. I’m in my 40s (but younger than 45) and I have plenty of friends my age and younger who use it regularly. I also know plenty of people in their 20s who use it all the time too. I do know lots of people older than me on it as well but I definitely wouldn’t call it an old person platform with the people I know on it.

Maybe it was a bit of a phase , the novelty has worn off and we're all a bit over it 🙅‍♀️

I use it for the community stuff so I know what’s going on locally. If there’s a better place for this please correct me.

I thought no one actually posts on FB now. You post on Insta and you can share that post to FB if you want.

Exactly what I do and although I have tailed off a bit I do love it as a photo album for me, like you i couldnt give a toss if anyone else looks or likes.
Dnt go on there otherwise, deleted the app and only have it on my laptop to add the photos.
My 18 Yr old son has started to use it, as do some of his friends so I do think it's becoming more popular to the younger people out there.
Deleted Instagram too.

I use it as a link library now. I post to an audience of one (me) and it’s a way to store articles, links and pictures/memes I’d like to be able to access in the future.

I only still have it because of a family group, but am thinking of deleting the whole account.
