To ask for your ideas to take petty revenges on an uninvited guest?

Because of boring and longwinded reasons, I can't currently prevent this person from coming to stay with me whenever they like. But I don't have to treat them like a guest, because guests are invited. I have plans in place to renounce this obviously terrible arrangement as soon as possible, but in the meantime I am relieving my frustrations by plotting small, petty revenge's that aren't unreasonable.

(They have a lovey home of their own, and don't really want to stay here. They are choosing to be here specifically because they know I don't want them and to make the point that they still can. It's silly and childish and I didn't choose it. They did, and are also deliberately prolonging the situation. There's nothing to do but laugh about it, and this is intended to be in jest. Although I can't promise I won't put one or two into practice if there are good suggestions.....)

Why can't you prevent them from coming to stay?

I'm guessing husband, separated but not yet divorced.

Aluna · 06/03/2026 13:52

As they have a home of their own, even if this an ex husband you can just not let them in.

-itching powder in their underwear and towels
-cuckoo clock in their room
-Laxatives in their food in the meal they have just before leaving (you don't want an explosive mess in YOUR loo)
-Cough and blow your nose over their food
-Cook a mushroom dish and claim you foraged the mushrooms yourself- don't eat any yourself though and don't get caught.

Have a massive really noisy party late into the night in a room with a locked door. With them on the other side. They aren't invited.

Turn off the boiler whenever they try to shower and say oh sorry it's on the blink. It sometimes works, sometimes not.

LlynTegid · 06/03/2026 13:50

Just don't let them in. Don't waste time and/or money on anything else.

MatildaTheCat · 06/03/2026 13:50

A dead mouse concealed very very well in their bedroom. Maybe in a small bag taped to the underside of the bed or another piece of furniture.

RobinEllacotStrike · 06/03/2026 13:49

if they stay in a room with a wardrobe/drawers etc make sure they are full to bursting so can't be used by "guests".
Either declutter to the point of barren discomfort, or max out and get really messy & cluttered.

RobinEllacotStrike · 06/03/2026 13:46

Assuming they have their own key ... get yourself busy.
Leave when they arrive.
Don't talk to them - treat them like a ghost in the house but be very neutral - grey rock style.
Are they eating your food? If so run stuff really low. Swap sugar & salt.
Ditto towels/linens etc - go minimalist for yourself & box everything else up. So you have enought towels/bed linen for your use only.
Keep TV and any other remote controls in your handbag.
Turn off wifi when you are out.
Do you have a heating ap? if so make sure it is off when you are out.
If there is anyting they particularly like in the hosue? box it up so it looks gone.

Call the police tbh

jackstini · 06/03/2026 13:46

Wild parties every night, lots of visitors
No food in the fridge (have a mini one in your room)
A stink bomb in their bed/fart in their room
Nylon bedding - the kind Pontins did in the 70’s to 2000’s

Get a clock that chimes every hour and put it in their room, screw it to the wall.
Put an old lumpy mattress topper on the bed.
organise the hot water to conveniently run out when they get the shower.

My aunt packed her family up one Christmas night and arrived after midnight. TBF, it was stinking hot, they were coming anyway and she just thought “why not do it when it’s coolest”. Fair enough.

They all lay down in the lounge room for us to find in the morning. But forgot about the clock over their head which chimed the Westminster chimes. Every 15 minutes working its way up to the full, hourly carillon.

Mosaic123 · 06/03/2026 13:45

You are so sorry you have COVID. Wait till they are on the way though.

If they still insist on coming they won't be able to be in the same room as you.

TikTokker · 06/03/2026 13:45

I wouldn’t be there when they arrived. Why do you have to let them stay?

Livpool · 06/03/2026 13:44

Ignore them completely

OperationalSupport · 06/03/2026 13:42

Make sure there is only off milk in the fridge, and only one sheet left on the loo roll with no spares in reach.
Take the bedroom curtains down ‘for dry cleaning’.
Take the batteries out of the TV remote.
Make sure any pens they have available don’t work.

Abra1t · 06/03/2026 13:42

Paint oozing sores on your face and cough and shiver. Then tell them you don’t think you’re still contagious.

FreshInks · 06/03/2026 13:28

Why can't you prevent them from coming to stay?

I assume it’s her ex and they co-own the property.

MakeYourOwnSunshine · 06/03/2026 13:39

Change the name of your WiFi to FuckOffHomeSally.

RobinEllacotStrike · 06/03/2026 13:33

If they stay in a room with good curtains swap them out for very thin ugly ones.
That would be like a small stab in the heart everytime they go into the room.

Ditto ugly bedccovers.

Remove bedside lamp if there is one.

ask them to bring their own towels/linen?

DO NOT wash laundry or cook for them.

Nofeckingway · 06/03/2026 13:32

Invite some garrulous old biddy to stay also . Tell her they are very interested in talking about her dead relatives and detailed facts of old journeys she used to take , particularly the B roads and names of villages .

Janeaway · 06/03/2026 13:30

Clean the toilet with their toothbrush.
Rub your arse on their pillow.

rainrainmorerain · 06/03/2026 13:29

With a small brush paint some tiny red spots on the sheet or pillow case on their bed, then mention that you are itching and think there might be bed bugs in the house.

FreshInks · 06/03/2026 13:28

Why can't you prevent them from coming to stay?

WhatAMarvelousTune · 06/03/2026 13:27

Use all the hot water.
Uncomfortable bed - maybe eat a slice of toast quite messily in their bed before they arrive. Lots of crumbs for them to lie on.

purplecorkheart · 06/03/2026 13:26

Play a recording of someone snoring really loud and play it on high.

Stand over them in bed starting and smiling.

Set the lights on timer so they go on and off in the middle of the night.
