Until we deal with the source of the problem, it'll just continue, ad infinitum. First, we need to identify the source of the problem.

its human nature, look at how many people want other countrys leaders taken out of play because they dont agree with their leadership then add in tools like miliarty or spooks etc and then you have history.

JazzyBazzy79 · 05/03/2026 20:56

I agree. It's absolutely heart breaking thinking about what is happening in this world and what these poor civilians in war torn countries are having to endure. They have no life 😢😢😢

Do stop with the sanctimonious "women are so lovely, it's all the menz"

Remember the first world war and women handing out white feathers to men that weren't in the trenches.

Men and women are equally culpable and I get furious at trying to drive a wedge between any groups. They may be shit at housework but your average man is no more of a warmonger than your average woman.

You are so woefully ill educated that I can’t justify my time in pasting links to the quantity of evidence illustrating that it is men who are responsible for starting the vast, vast majority of wars.

Please never express your ‘white feather theory’ in public. It is mortifyingly infantile.

Interesting that Trump claimed last year that they had destroyed Iran's nuclear capacity, but suddenly it's back when his ratings are in the toilet and his paedophile pal's other friends who are public figures are being forced to step down or being arrested around the world...

coloration is not causation besides whos to say that two things could be true maybe they did but another country rearmed them etc like running out of milk and the shop provides more milk

Echobelly · 05/03/2026 20:25

ThatPearlkitty · 05/03/2026 20:06

or what if iran was quilty should we let them have nukes ?

No it doesn't. Many wars have been utterly pointless, self defeating and wholly destructive.
Yrs, an historian.

they may have been pointless but they all started because of humans wanting to control others etc

Well, apart from changing the word ‘humanity’s’ to ‘men’s’, I heartily agree with your post.

Are you for real? Do you have any idea how oppressive to women a lot of these regimes are? You think they have a voice and any sway in what these men are doing?

Nevertheless women vote in Iran and they voted in these guys again and again. I highly doubt that all of them were forced.
And as for the US...

I think I'm angry more than anything else. This has all kicked off literally because of a petty, venal old man and his fratboy minions thinking they are so tough and so clever they can put the whole world at risk to distract from the petty, venal old man's crimes.

I have teenage kids - this drags on they could have to be enlisted to help clean up this mess in a few years... along with millions of other people's kids of course.

We’ve had wars since time immemorial so I don’t know why anyone thinks it should be different now . People need to accept that this hearts and flowers and be kind bollocks is keeping us unsafe . History has always been survival of the fittest and the current efforts to bolster the ‘ vulnerable’ are futile . We need to put money into defence and quickly .

Aw shucks …. It’s an old image.Would-be alpha males flinging poo at each other.

And at us too unfortunately.

It never goes out of style, right? It never stops.

topcat2014 · 05/03/2026 19:09

I refuse to worry about anything I cannot control. I've had too many years of it.

Men.We give them their lives. In return all they seem to want to be is big poo-flinging monkeys.

Damn! Get this on t-shirts and the sides of buses and give KassandraOfTroy the Nobel Peace Prize. This is gold and I will be borrowing this forever! 😆🙌

I met up with a new friend today at a great café on the riverside. The sun was shining and several other friends were there so lots of catching up and introducing. Very nice.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the world.......

It is actually heart-breaking, utterly heart-breaking. And while it's an ugly part of being human, this penchant for self destruction, the beautiful part of being human and being alive, that ethical and compassionate part of us, is what gives us hope.

To understand Hillel the Elder's Golden Rule and the meaning of the passage Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 gives us enough personal power to try and do and feel our moral best during our time here on earth. You don't have to have faith to appreciate the humility and poetry in this passage, one which reminds us of the miracle and the fragility of our existence.
We can't stop this catastrophe, but we can go out and meet it with our moral compass as our greatest weapon.
Ride out at dawn every day, OP, and meet humanity with the best of intentions and grace.
And there is something better and stronger than anything else- and the best bit is, we generate it- it's hope. It survives us, as does love. We've been here a long ass time and hope is part of the reason for our survival.
I hate living through a period of mass death and destruction and witnessing humanity at its lowest ebb. But we live to fight another day and we live in hope of better days.
But yeah, we're in the grip of a bunch of powerful, extremist lunatics who are on some rogue Crusade on steroids. It's fucking nuts.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 05/03/2026 17:06

I grew up with the media always talking about the four minute warning and leaflets being sent showing what to do in the event of a nuclear war.

just like it was then, we will either survive or we won’t - not much any of us can do. (Okay it may have made me somewhat nihilistic 😆)

funrunsunday · 05/03/2026 16:59

I started to feel like this lately, but I really desist. I'm in my late 30s and the world has been this way for my entire living memory. Yes. It is depressing and it is also very sobering to concede to the fact we have so very little real control over things that significantly impact our lives.

If I allowed myself to get to a heartbroken stage, I would find it hard to find a way to enjoy life and it would consume me. This I do have control over and refuse to part with my autonomy over how much I let things get to me.

Ultimately it's terrible but humanity has forever been this way. This isn't a new fangled thing.
