Save your tears for the thousands of women, children and men slaughtered by the IRGC

HappyFace2025 · 10/03/2026 18:40

The Tomahawk tragically destroyed one school 😥 not multiple ones, or i'm sure we'd know about it @Sherbs12 .

Sherbs12 · 10/03/2026 18:23

@Ihatetomatoes From what I’ve seen on Mumsnet, and general public opinion, there’s absolute condemnation of the Iranian regime and their horrific catalogue of atrocities over decades.

The struggle we’re now having is balancing the argument that the Israel-US attacks (which go against international law) are for the benefit of the Iranian people, when the WHO has issued warnings today about the black/toxic/acidic rain as a results of the bombings, US tomahawks are destroying schools filled with schoolgirls, the US President is joking about sinking rather than capturing an Iranian navy ship returning from a ceremonial event in India, etc., and there is no accountability from or given to these so-called ‘liberators’. Also, we’ve been here before in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, etc.

Former Fox News host, reported alcoholic, accused abuser of women, and self-styled ‘Secretary of War’ Hegseth has said that there is also worse to come…

All of it is heinous and tragic.

Yes that is correct. Israel refuses to confirm or deny they have nuclear weapons. Iran denies they have nuclear weapons.

SIPRI estimates Israel has 90 nuclear missiles, but Iran 0

over 90% of all nuclear weapons are held by the US and Russia who have over 5,000 each. It’s hard to see how Iran could be a threat to Israel when they have access to unlimited support from the US.

Edited

Is it hard to see how Iran could be a threat to Israel?

They have already attacked Israel and murdered/raped civilians through their proxy, Hamas.

If Iran ever got to the stage of developing a nuclear bomb, I wouldn't trust them not to drop it on Israel who they are committed to destroying.

What do they say, Death to the US/Death to Israel.

I do believe Israel have nuclear weapons (my opinion) but can't know for sure. It's factually correct to say they have never confirmed or denied that they have them.

Still no idea how @oldtiredcyclist is confident that they have “at least 400 nuclear weapons” because they didn't answer that question. **

Whitehall documents in 2005 said the UK gave them heavy water which is only used to make nuclear weapons.

The SIPRI has reported Israel as a nuclear power

But not Iran,

Here is their latest report.
https://www.reuters.com/business/aerospace-defense/world-entering-new-era-nuclear-powers-build-up-arsenals-sipri-think-tank-says-2025-06-15/

STOCKHOLM, June 16 (Reuters) - The world's nuclear-armed states are beefing up their atomic arsenals and walking out of arms control pacts, creating a new era of threat that has brought an end to decades of reductions in stockpiles since the Cold War, a think tank said on Monday.
Of the total global inventory of an estimated 12,241 warheads in January 2025, about 9,614 were in military stockpiles for potential use, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute said in its yearbook, an annual inventory of the world's most dangerous weapons.

Around 2,100 of the deployed warheads were kept in a state of high operational alert on ballistic missiles, nearly all belonging to either the U.S. or Russia.
SIPRI said global tensions had seen the nine nuclear states - the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, China, India, Pakistan, North Korea and Israel - plan to increase their stockpiles.

"The era of reductions in the number of nuclear weapons in the world, which had lasted since the end of the Cold War, is coming to an end," SIPRI said. "Instead, we see a clear trend of growing nuclear arsenals, sharpened nuclear rhetoric and the abandonment of arms control agreements."
SIPRI said Russia and the U.S., which together possess around 90% of all nuclear weapons, had kept the sizes of their respective useable warheads relatively stable in 2024. But both were implementing extensive modernization programmes that could increase the size of their arsenals in the future.
The fastest-growing arsenal is China's, with Beijing adding about 100 new warheads per year since 2023. China could potentially have at least as many intercontinental ballistic missiles as either Russia or the U.S. by the turn of the decade.
According to the estimates, Russia and the U.S. held around 5,459 and 5,177 nuclear warheads respectively, while China had around 600.

Pleased to hear it. Agreed re apologising.

Hopefully, you are in agreement that the deaths of protesters at the hands of their own regime is pretty awful too?

Everyone I've encountered states the bombing of the school in Iran is tragic. As it is. Some people are a bit quieter about condemning the regime slaughters though 🤔 they shouldn't be though since it's also tragic, isn't it.

How Israel's secret nuclear arsenal comes under spotlight amid attacks on Iran

SIPRI estimates that Israel has 30 aircraft, 50 land-based missiles and 10 sea-based missiles, and these warheads are capable of being delivered anywhere within a maximum radius of 4,450 km

I fear you’re right - Cuba likely to be next, Trump has said it ‘may or may not be a friendly takeover…’

It wouldn't be a surprise at all. It's all so depressing.

Yes ,their interests will diverge from now on. Trump wants to declare a great victory and move on. Probably to bomb Cuba - but who knows.

Netanyahu wants permanent chaos in the Arab and Persian world, I'd say he is agnostic about regime change as such. If things do quieten down , despite his efforts , he has Turkey on the back burner by some accounts. Sigh

I have. I also comment on killing of victims from all different sides. No need to reflect since I feel for all victims, not just the ones who are victims of one 'side'. Indeed, it appears that an American bomb might be responsible for the death of the girls and teachers at the school. They need to release full details and apologise for that at the least. It's awful.

So Trump was lying... glad we cleared that up.

Plenty of very well versed ME experts are saying that Israel bounced the US into doing this, Trump wanted, originally, negotiations, then again, he might want them again tomorrow....

The Israelis were always against this.

In his latest press conference, Trump was asked why he is the only person saying that the Iranians had a Tomahawk - the reporter pointed out that nobody else in the US administration was saying it and Hegseth refused to say they did when questioned directly about it.

Trump’s response: ‘Because I just don’t know enough about it.’

Tells us everything we need to know.

Weapons experts have seen the video and say the weapon being used in the area was not something either the Iranians or Israelis

are known to use.

BBC verify was reporting on this today, including using evidence from a new video. It seems 99.999% like to have been America.

I saw this. It really is time for Trump to stand up and give an explanation and apology for what happened. The parents of those little girls deserve to know the truth and receive an apology.

"Tomahawk missiles are specifically a US-developed and operated weapon system, not part of Iran's arsenal. They are used by the U.S. Navy and allied forces. Iran does not possess Tomahawks, but instead utilizes its own domestic cruise missiles and ballistic missiles".

From the Guardian ( my bold)

If Trump thinks the Iranians are inaccurate bombers, presumably he thinks the US are not. But either the US are inaccurate missile strikers, or sloppy map updaters, or they intentionally struck a school.

The evidence directly contradicts statements by the US president, Donald Trump, on Sunday that Iran was responsible for the school bombing. “In my opinion, based on what I’ve seen, that was done by Iran,” Trump said, without offering any evidence for his claim. “They’re very inaccurate, as you know, with their munitions. They have no accuracy whatsoever. It was done by Iran.”

What I'm "suggesting" is no more or less than what I said. It's factual that Israel have not confirmed or denied whether they have nuclear weapons. We wouldn't know for sure either way (though I would be surprised if they don't) because if they do have them, they haven't used them.

I never said they should be "praised" for that. You put words into my mouth which is why I don't like debating with you. I also don't like debating with you because of your tendency to use demeaning language such as ridiculous comment and Do you not understand the implications of using nuclear weapons?!

The Iranian regime are evil, not the general population who deserve a far better life in the future.

That's good.

And, the general population of Israel? That bit was missed. Surely, not evil. Didn't you mean some in the leadership? I imagine you'd didn’t mean to include everyone in Israel?

Nope. Hezbollah began sending rockets over israel on 2 March in retaliation for the death of the Ayatollah.
