No, they aren't quite far along with achieving their goals at all

They're losing this war and clearly had no genuine plan when starting it, their objectives have failed miserably and when it's over their influence in the Middle East will have been severely weakened whilst also strengthening Iran massively.

I'm not sure if it will strengthen Iran or not but the US have got nowhere in terms of achieving their goals.

The Iranians didn't rise up when the US begged them to.
The Kurds have refused to join in the US war so that they can die.
The Iranians are continuing to fight and are mounting an extremely effective defense, particularly blocking the Straits of H, as they told the US they would in advance.

It seems fairly likely that the gulf countries will be asking the US to remove their bases if this continues as their presence is causing them to be attacked, meaning a much reduced influence over the region.

RichardOnslowRoper · 12/03/2026 09:33

I believe Trump was warned Iran would attack the Gulf countries but refused to believe it.
I don't think there are any winners in this war.

So much delusion in one post.

It's Iran who are losing their influence in the ME due to their stupid decision to start attacking their neighbours.

Qatar wants to bolster security partnership with US after Iran's strikes

Qatar hosts the biggest U.S. base in the Middle East, Al Udeid Air Base, which was attacked by Iran during the war that erupted on February 28.

The spokesperson, Majed Al Ansari, told a media briefing on Tuesday the security partnership with the United States was not in question, but added that its deals with the U.S. and European countries need to be strengthened.

"The partnerships are the main stop-gap and deterrent against any attack on our country," he added.

"When things go out of control and spiral, the result is deterrents do not work... But that doesn't mean you shouldn't have deterrents. You should strengthen these deterrents and that is exactly what are we trying to do right," Al Ansari said.

We'll see how that partnership goes considering how the US has failed to protect it's so called allies thus far

There's no delusion at all, Iran are winning and it's clear as day.

US has failed in it's initial main objective, has spent ridiculous sums of money and is running out of key munitions whilst oil prices continue to soar. This war will prove to be a grave mistake for the Trump administration and also for the US in the years to come especially in terms of influence in the region.

All they've proved is that aren't so mighty or superior and that they've also got an absolute dunce at the helm of the country.

I can't understand why this is not today's headline news, all over the world, now that video footage proves the missile that hit the school was US / Israeli.

On the day this happened, Hegseth did that repulsive speech about 'quiet death from the air.' Yes he was taking about taking out the Ayatollah regime but even then, there is no need for this kind of language. Now, in light of all these children killed in the same strikes, the speech is diabolical. America and Israel are the shame of the Western world. I have no words really.

I’m not desperate to defend anyone.
Do you genuinely believe the American military deliberately bombed a school when there was a perfectly legitimate target next door?

At least 13 hospitals and health facilities have been hit in Iran, that doesn't happen by accident, added to which, it is exactly what the IDF were doing in Gaza.

In the Iraq war, some 200 primary schools were bombed by the coalition forces.

Doubtless all "Accidental"

I think some countries see killing children as "Killing the enemy before they are old enough to hold a gun" and as a means to demoralise the population.

There have been horrific stories about the US in the past. Civilians targeted in Vietnam, illegal war started in Iraq, Guantanamo Bay torture. Deliberately targeting schools? Who knows.

SherlockStones · 12/03/2026 08:43

Twiglets1 · 11/03/2026 16:55

Well the US are quite far along with achieving those stated goals so that's why I think they have credibility.

You missed out the word ‘accidentally’.

If your child was blown to bits would it matter to you why the US did it? Targettrd, accident, incompetence, your child would still be dead at the hands of Trump.

Amazing how they can target a room in a hotel but accidently blow up a school.

Namingbaba · 12/03/2026 08:38

I'm not sure what the US would gain to deliberately do this. Trump looks uncomfortable when asked, and I'm not sure what it does on the ground to help them.

They are completely responsible and need to take ownership of this avoidable tragedy, but of course the current administration have no dignity and are trying to sow confusion and not do the right thing.

This seems to be a pattern with some leaders, where they have a few military "successes" and think they're beyond failure so go into any conflict even when the risks were known to anyone with some basic knowledge.

Alexandra2001 · 12/03/2026 08:31

Twiglets1 · 12/03/2026 08:12

The school got hit by the US, accidentally.

You may not believe a word the US say but whatever - it's nothing to do with Israel!

Both the Israelis and the US have said they helped draw up targets, inc this IRGC facility but blame poor intel, which is not believable considering the networks the Israelis have in the region, the school had been in operation for several years.

But either way, had they not launched this stupid war, which will achieve nothing, these children, plus 1000s more would still be alive.

Twiglets1 · 12/03/2026 08:12

Alexandra2001 · 12/03/2026 07:15

""Israelis helped draw up the targets" sailed past your thought process ....

Its a thread about 160 + children killed by US/Israelis, several threads about the Iranians and their evil acts.

The pro Israeli lobby/posters will justify anything, any act, murder, killing... all can be argued for because of x y or z.

The IRGC facility should never have been bombed in the fist place, to do so shows scant regard for the children, even if not hit, those children would have been terrified but now they are dead or seriously injured, lives snuffed out, ruined.

Clearly, you are desperate to defend them otherwise you would not have made a special point of posting and pointing out that the poster had missed the word 'accidentally'.
I have no idea whether they did this deliberately or not, anymore than you know. We do know that they have deliberately hit a desalination plant, depriving people of fresh water, deliberately hit a ship off the Indian coast which was not engaged in fighting and then apparently enjoyed the 'fun' at letting it sink, talked about death and destruction all day long (Hesgeth), rained acid rain down on civilians in Iran, etc, etc. Given that and the US's history of war crimes and illegal attacks, I would not be able to give a definite answer to your question.

Alexandra2001 · 12/03/2026 07:15

Twiglets1 · 12/03/2026 07:06

Can't be bothered arguing about this. Love how you still make it Israel's fault when it's now pretty clear the US are responsible.

Nothing to say about all the children killed by the Iranian regime during the uprisings? Now that 100% was deliberate.

Thought not.

Nope, you simply do not know that, its your belief, as is mine but the evidence supports deliberately or a do not care mentality.
Why even consider dropping 1000lbs of high explosive, multiple times right next to a school???

As the Israelis helped draw up target lists, then its inconceivable that a building, used as a school for several years, wasn't known about, their Intel is second to none.... this is the country that set off pagers as bombs, that knew exactly where Iran's President was.

You missed out the word ‘accidentally’.

That because the word is irrelevant.

Hitting a child who has run out directly in front of a car is an accident.

Dropping a bomb on a pre existing static object such as a school is an incident and certainly not an accident

You missed out "Schools" on that list.

Apparently the Israelis helped draw up targets, so that may explain it.

The US came out with 3 entirely different war aims & justifications, now claim "Victory" whilst ships still cannot sail through 'Hormuz..... they are nothing more than a bunch of murdering Cowboys, UN says approx 2000 people have died since conflict began.

As for destroying Anti Ship Missile capability, well thats worked well, Trump will go down as the POTUS who wrecked the World Economy, along with ours.

It will be extremely difficult to to stop random attacks, now Bahrain oil depots hit, along with tankers well away from the conflict zone.

Edited

Don't forget hospitals and desalination plans @Alexandra2001.

As you say, if this is allowed to continue, there will be major economic consequences at the very least, less for the US than for Europe and the UK. Things could get even worse than that though.

That's not true. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) commenced Operation Epic Fury with the goal of striking targets to dismantle the Iranian regime’s security apparatus, prioritizing locations that pose an imminent threat. They had a list of targets:

Command and Control Centers
IRGC Joint Headquarters
IRGC Aerospace Forces Headquarters
Integrated Air Defense Systems
Ballistic Missile Sites
Iranian Navy Ships
Iranian Navy Submarines
Anti-ship Missile Sites
Military Communication Capabilities
