You think the USA or Israel cares about killing Iranian kids? Delulu.

My point was there is no benefit to any of them in targeting a school.

It's not a "failed war from the off" because regime change was not the only or main goal of the war. The US and Israel have said that regime change needs to come from within and they have urged the Iranian people to rise up. Even if they do not feel able to do this right now, the regime has been weakened and that has to be a good thing for anyone who thinks they are evil.

There are many other goals that have already been mentioned. They are doing pretty well with achieving those. Though still have a long way to go so the outcome of the war is really not known yet.

I don't think there is a poster on here that doesn't think the Iranian regime isn't evil.

But it seems that you re one of the few posters who think this war is all going very well.
Its not, its a fucking disaster, that will make the GFC of 2008 look like a mere blip.

UAE, Bahrain, both attacked, depots and ships on fire... oil and gas supplies

Even releasing 400 million barrels of oil has made no difference, prices have gone up.

For the ordinary Iranian, they will now have an equal or even worse leader.

The only way out now, is to appease the Iranians, putting them in an even stronger position, plus higher oil prices help them and Russia, damaging Ukraine.

Trump has made possibly the worst decision ever made by a US President, all done because he couldn't stand up to Netanyahu, either that or he really is under the control of the Russians.

Iran's missile capabilities are not being destroyed it's the US that is running out of munitions, Iran has a huge amount of arms that are underground untouched.

Iran is inflicting huge damage on Israel every day which you're not seeing because of Israel threatening it's own people to not reveal the damage.

If you can't see the flip flopping coming out of the US then I don't know what to tell you. They aren't meeting objectives here.

As for the Uranium they don't even know where it is.

Ah yes of course ... it is Israel that has a history of threatening it's own people

Not Iran, not at all.

Not in my case ... I said on MN from the start that I assumed it was a mistake, whether caused by the US, Israel or Iran.

No benefit to targeting a school from any of them.

"urged the Iranian people to rise up". is possibly the most ridiculous term used so far, as if Hermione Granger whipped out her wand and flourished it at the Iranian people, whilst saying "obliviate", hoping that it would cast aside the memories of 30,000 Iranian citizens being slaughtered in the January protests.
How many times do I have to say - the Iranian people cannot rise up, because they don't have any weapons and the 250,000 IRGC, 150,000 Basij and 300,000 regular Iranian army troops, are not simply going to give up.
In order for the regime to go, it would require a land invasion by the US and a coalition of other countries.
In 2003, the US led coalition invaded Iraq from Kuwait to the South, across what was largely desert. It took them only 19 days to take Baghdad. Contrast that with all of Iran's land borders, they are very hilly/mountainous. The Caspian to the North, would need co-operation from countries unlikely to play ball. The Persian Gulf to the South West, is initially flat, but then becomes mountainous and the capital Tehran is in the North. The next problem, is that Iran is around three times larger than Iraq and has a population of 90 million.
The final point should be obvious - you cannot carry out regime change simply by bombing.

Nevertheless it was what was suggested from the start.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on March 1st that Israel would strike thousands of targets in the coming days and urged Iranians to seize a rare chance to overthrow the Islamic Republic.

“In the coming days we will strike thousands of targets of the terror regime,” Netanyahu said on X, adding that Israel would create conditions for the brave people of Iran to free themselves from the chains of despotism.
He urged Iranians to join mass street demonstrations, writing: “Do not miss this opportunity. This is an opportunity that comes only once in a generation.”

Why didn’t Iran bomb Isreal when it was actively carrying out a genocide in Gaza if that was their goal this whole time? Doesn’t make sense.

Iran provided Hamas and Hezbollah with everything they needed to fight Israel up to and including 7 October 2023. And it's spelt IsrAEl.

No propaganda

That's the attempted work of the US in trying to convince people they are actually winning this war and that they have a competent administration leading the country.

The war is ongoing and and it says in the article you posted, The US is reportedly considering sending troops on a high-risk mission to secure the uranium.

Some of the other objectives are already being met such as destroying Iran's navy and making progress in destroying Iran's missile capabilities.

And preventing Iran from supporting their proxy groups. They have other priorities now and Iran's resources are being used up fighting this war rather than getting others to fight their proxy wars like Hamas & Hezbollah.

Iran don't have a nuclear bomb but they did attack Israel and then fight them through their proxy, Hamas.

Accidentally my arse. They are fully responsible and it’s murder. It wasn’t an active war situation where they were defending themselves they were the aggressors.

It’s like saying Hamas accidentally killed civilians when trying to kill idf soldiers. Opps

Well that cocked that up then, haven't they?

Killing a sickening amount of schoolchildren will mean the people will go along with such a idiotic and poorly thought out course of action of course.

Their so called "objectives" are not going to be met and Trump will either try and claim victory without actually achieving anything of the sort or he'll continue to drag the US to hell.

Either way Iran may choose go the nuclear arms route which means utter failure for Trump and Israel. Amazing strategic planning.

It feels like there is a lot of flip flopping. At the beginning of this war people were so happy for Iranians, in fact some people were 'overjoyed' that Iran was being bombed, they were celebrating, couldn't stop posting crowing updates, Trump and Netanyahu were going to free them and anyone who opposed it supported the Iranian regime and didn't want the freedom for them that the gruesome twosome were sure to bestow.

Now it was never about freedom, the Iranians have to free themselves, the celebrating has stopped and the crowing updates are getting less and less. A school full of little girls has been bombed, Tehran has toxic air and toxic rain, 10s of 1000s of civilian structures have been hit, the world's economy is in freefall, the people in countries that host US bases are angry that they've been dragged into this and their economies are at huge risk while they are being forced to spend billions defending themselves so the US and Israel can play Billy big bollocks and all they have achieved is killing a 87year old man who would be dead soon anyway and replacing him with his more hardline son who is pissed off that his dad and family have been killed.

A big round of applause for the US and Israel, destabilising the whole fucking world so they can make big booms and feel like big men. Why people keep falling for this shit time and time again is beyond me, thankfully with each stupid move the US and Israel take less and less people are supporting them.

Trump said yesterday that they had won the war they just needed to decide when to stop. If you've won the war but are continuing to kill innocent civilians surely that's a war crime.

Are you able to quote all these people who are defending the Iranian regime and who think it's okay to murder their own people? If not, please stop throwing around accusations. You have a bad habit of doing this.

It's the old dishonest strawman of "You're not foursquare behind Trump, therefore, you love the Iranian regime." Most people grow out of it by the time they've left school.

oldtiredcyclist · 12/03/2026 11:36

rainingsnoring · 12/03/2026 10:19

Yes, I've read that too.
My comment comes from just observing his behaviour and listening to his choice of language in his recent conferences. He strikes me as someone truly evil.

I used to think that John Bolton, Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld were evil, but Hegseth is like them on steroids, he lacks any humanity.

SherlockStones · 12/03/2026 11:35

Twiglets1 · 12/03/2026 11:18

But Israel never did say regime change was a primary goal, it was more something that would be great if it did happen but they couldn't make happen. Many, many Iranians were begging for intervention remember (though more from Trump as the US is more powerful).

From the article you linked:

If Iran’s new leadership keeps its grip on power, the long-term measure of the success of the conflict may hang on the fate of 440kg of enriched uranium which was buried under a mountain by US strikes last June, former and serving Israeli defence and intelligence sources said. Enough for more than 10 nuclear warheads, Iran could use it to hasten the construction of a weapon if the material remains in the country.

“These 440kg of uranium are one of the clearest litmus tests for how this war ends, whether it is a success,” said one former senior Israeli defence and intelligence official who worked on Iran. “We need to be in a position where either this material is out of Iran, or you have a regime where you are confident that it is safeguarded [inside Iran] in a very meaningful way.”

Hardliners in Iran have long argued a nuclear deterrent is the only guarantee of survival for the Islamic republic. The overwhelming military dominance of US and Israeli forces in this war is likely to bolster that view if the regime survives.
The US is reportedly considering sending troops on a high-risk mission to secure the uranium. Negotiations before the war also included proposals for Iran to surrender the enriched uranium to another country.

I completely agree. Hesgeth comes across as a psychopath to me.

Even his own mother despises him:

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/nov/30/trump-defense-secretary-pick-pete-hegseth-mother-abuser-of-women

A 2018 email from Penelope Hegseth accused her son of routinely mistreating women and displaying a lack of character.

“You are an abuser of women – that is the ugly truth and I have no respect for any man that belittles, lies, cheats, sleeps around, and uses women for his own power and ego,” Penelope Hegseth wrote in the email obtained by the New York Times.

“You are that man (and have been for years) and as your mother, it pains me and embarrasses me to say that, but it is the sad, sad truth,” she added, advising her son to “get some help and take an honest look at yourself”.

He also notoriously told his subordinates to ignore the rules of war, in Afghanistan and Iraq. He said that murdering prisoners was good and that killing any number of civilians to get one suspected gunman was fine.

oldtiredcyclist · 12/03/2026 11:28

rainingsnoring · 12/03/2026 09:49

Yes, no winners here. It was very, very foolish of the US to follow Israel's 'orders' to start this war.

I think the following makes it obvious that Netanyahu was pulling Trump's strings.
