No they don't.

You're not paying attention if you think people love to just throw the antisemite accusation at everyone who is anti Israel.

I have friends who are anti Israel only with regards to the war in Gaza, and I certainly wouldn't accuse them of being antisemitic because they aren't. The war is a divisive issue and I know they don't hate Jews they just disagree with the actions of the current Israeli government.

The same can be true of people on MN - not everyone who criticises Israel is antisemitic. Even many Israelis are against their own government, the same as in the UK. But some MN's comments indicate a deep rooted dislike or distrust of Jews (they control Trump, they want to take over the ME if not the world), or minimise/excuse the suffering of Israeli citizens on 7/10/23 from the Hamas attack. That gives strong antisemitic vibes and I'm not afraid to call it out where I see it.

Actually, a lot of people are throwing around the anti semite accusation to anyone who criticises Israel. It's constant on some forms of SM. Lots of adults just don't know how to think clearly or control themselves on SM. Good to hear that you and some others do differentiate.

Nazi bedfellows. Whatever . Thanks for your extremely useful contribution thought Twiglets 1. It’s been noted .

Well, they were during WW2. Valera offered condolences onHitlers' death. Like WTF?

Try reading what I actually wrote @sabababa. I said that Israel have been the chief aggressor in the ME, not the only aggressor. What you say about Iran (single handedly) destroying all those countries is total nonsense- check your history.

Israel is also not the chief aggressor.

And absoutely Iran has destroyed those countries. You check your history.

Every country that Israel has attacked has attacked Israel first through Iran's axis of resistance which was intentionalyl set up to slowly destroy and weaken Israel.

If there is a chief agressor, it's Iran with its stated aim to destroy Israel. After having destroyed Syria, Yemen and Iraq.

My Iranian relative (not living in Iran) has said it was an Iranian missile. However the US are investigating.

I don't think Irish are nazis today. I think they have a very dodgy past though with this and there is a deep deep current of antisemtisim that has always existed in Ireland (you know, Jews killing Christ and all that).

To be honest, you're the one who seems to be avoiding reality.

How many Jewish refugees did Ireland take during WW2? You said I'mw rong. What's the number?

People love throwing anti semite out at anyone who is anti -Israel . Such a cliche at this stage. No my point is Ireland had just escaped the tirade of an abusive colonist regime and that’s part of why we didn’t partake in the war. But you have no comment to make on that. Because the uk is the perfect defender and always on the right side of history .. eh yeh right don’t think so

Right.....
Iran isn't an aggressor. They just destroyed Syria, Yemen, Iraq and Lebanon. But what's aggressive about that?

Oh yeah and funded Hamas to carry out its mass massacre which is what precipitated the Gazan disaster.

Iran literally has a clock counting down to the destruction of Israel in the middle of Tehran. But that's cute, not aggressive.

Haha, that old chestnut that you are accused of being anti semitic if you're anti irael.

No, Ireland didn't have to fight. That wasn't my question.

How many desperate Jewish refugees did Ireland take in during WW2?

You said I'd make up the number of 100 and the reason for it being so low was anti semitism.

But please do enlighten me how many?

Or were they just anti Israel in 1945?

A few articles on the subject:

Sorry but those articles are of zero relevance to the current situation and do not back up Ireland being nazi “bedfellows “ . Ireland was dirt poor at that time thanks to the UK. Perhaps that was a factor

Free State used Nazi ruling to bar Jews

A new book charting the history of racism in Ireland reveals fresh evidence of widespread anti-Semitism in the Free State before, during and after the Holocaust.

Blame a regime that uses children as human shields by putting a school next to a military base. They don’t care about women and children. Just look at their culture - females are second class citizens.

The US has about 160 schools on military bases. Are those shields too?

It kinda does really. When your PM is sad about Hitler dying and refuses to take any desperate Jewish refugees (during the war and after as well).

And not sure why you think I have any reason to defned what the UK did in Ireland. Are you saying that's why the Irish collaborated with the Nazis and didn't take any Jews?

AutumnClouds · 05/03/2026 07:15

My god, the number of people who think one side must be the goodies. The enemy of your enemy is rarely your friend, they’re just another powerful violent regime led by a nutcase. Anyone who thinks the US couldn’t carelessly bomb a school didn’t pay any attention to anything that happened in Afghanistan, and anyone who thinks that the Iranian regime is above reproach just because they’re not America needs to get over their daddy issues.

Yes just like the Al ahli hospital. Also news emerging that the Cypriot base was not a drone from Iran. There’s only one country that commits atrocities and then shouts ‘it wasn’t us’ for it to be them eventually every single time.

I hope the Iranian people are rid of their horrid regime but I hope their achievement true independence and freedom not the ‘liberation’ Iraq and the rest got. Unfortunately Iran is rich in natural resources and geopolitically far too valuable for it to be left alone.

Really? There's only ONE country that does that?
And that's not the country that massacred tens of thousands of their own citizens in the streets and then blamed Israel?

Goodness, you've drunk the kool-aid and licked the spoon.

And I like the veiled conspiracy theory tin foil jibe that Israel sent the drone to Cyprus while Iran has proxies in Lebanon and has been attacking the gulf states and saudi arabia.

It is very sad but there is no evidence this was caused by US/. Israeli forces. The evidence points to a failed Iranian rocket launch.

no that’s just your opinion with absolutely no basis in fact . Whereas what I’ve posted about the uk is a fact .

So how many Jewish refugees did Ireland take? In your educated opinion?

(and I thought you weren't replyign to me anymore because I'm a really nasty bigot)

Ohhhh, how heartwarming.

Q. How many desperate Jewish refugees did this brave little country take in during WW2?

A. About 100.

Reason: Antisemitism. They didn't want Jews.

And 80 years later we get a clearer idea why Palestine is so dear to the Irish heart, to the exclusion of every other cause...

Ireland has never colonised any other country or invaded another country and then treated the citizens like absolute dirt the way a lot of other countries in Europe did. I mean they made it illegal for Irish people to speak their own language and practice their own religion for example when we were colonised And Ireland are not Nazi bedfellows. That is simple untrue .
