It is a genocide

You can argue until you are blue in the face but it is not a genocide. If G-d forbid it had been/was, then the people in Gaza would have been obliterated by now.

Yeah, sure. Don't waste your time, especially since you're wrong.

Turns out Netanyahu was completely right about Iran and the threat it has posed. He has been warning about Iran for a long time and he was right to do so.

Iran was the cheif aggressor in the middle east and tried to surround Israel through its proxies and slowly destroy Israel that way through constant threats and attacks. As well as funding and uspporting Hamas. Iran destroyed and destabilised every country in which it has intervened, just to project their own power and to threaten Israel.

They also impoverished their own population at the same time and exposed them to this war. Did you know for all the ballistic and nuclear missiles they hae spent hundreds of millions on, they don't even have sirens in Tehran? No air raid warnings?

Until a couple of years ago Iran was the most heavily sanctioned country in the world, sanctions which have been in place for decades. If they had been allowed to take part in trade then there would have been more money, lots of it, to invest and even a state run by religious nutters would have invested in infrastructure and civil projects if they had the money. As it is they prioritised the military, I can understand why

HarlanCobenDogshit · 05/03/2026 08:19

I just can't believe we've got a thread full of pp justifying actions of two groups of islamic extreamists.

Crazy times.

Whatever anyone believes on a Genocide, Hamas haven't lost as such, the hatred towards Israel and its supporters has just been magnified many times.

We will see increased terrorist attacks across the world, carried out by terrorist organisations with a different name.

The attacks on Iran will just hasten this, as previous wars in the ME have.

Hamas haven't lost as such ... oh dear.

HappyFace2025 · 05/03/2026 08:15

sabababa · 05/03/2026 01:27

They could be true but there certainly isn't consensus in the world that Israel has committed genocide in Gaza. The UK government has said it's not genocide.

And yet posters on MN and elsewhere continue to use 'genocide' which was first bandied about on 8 October 23.
DDs best friend in Ireland actually messaged her using the word the day afterwards! Needless to say although friend apologised they no longer speak.

Yes - it’s apparently an antisemitic trope to point out that America joined in with the bombing because they knew Israel planned to attack Iran first even though that is literally what America has said.

You fail to understand, deliberately or otherwise.

America have said very clearly they were going to go to war with Iran anyway. The exact timing may have been dictated by Israel, but that is all.

kirinm · 05/03/2026 07:54

Twiglets1 · 05/03/2026 07:49

I don’t look at SM much at all so my comment was aimed at people on MN. Some people on MN say accusations of antisemitism are getting old - the same people would never say accusations of racism generally are getting old.

You responded to a comment I made claiming it was an anti semetic trope that the Jews controlled the world when I said that it has been said by the pentagon to congress that the reason America was involved is because Israel intended to strike Iran and America thought they’d get attacked as a result. Israel planned to attack. America didn’t have any intelligence that Iran was going to attack.

kirinm · 05/03/2026 07:52

rainingsnoring · 05/03/2026 07:34

Actually, a lot of people are throwing around the anti semite accusation to anyone who criticises Israel. It's constant on some forms of SM. Lots of adults just don't know how to think clearly or control themselves on SM. Good to hear that you and some others do differentiate.

So how many Jewish refugees did Ireland take? In your educated opinion?

(and I thought you weren't replyign to me anymore because I'm a really nasty bigot)

Who gives a shit at this point? Harking back 80 years to call Ireland a shitty place. Meanwhile log onto the Internet and watch the Israeli army stand around watching a boy bleed to death, watch settlers gassing families in their homes at night leaving babies unable to breath, watch soldiers terrifying disabled people in the streets, watch their politicians say things like 'the children of Gaza have brought this upon themselves' and that 'every child, every baby in Gaza is the enemy' . But sure let's talk about Ireland 80 years ago, that's relevant to the conversation of Israel and the US killing yet more children as they sit at their desks trying to learn.

I mean a country with politicians who think that children can bring death and destruction on themselves who describe babies as the enemy, a country whose army is fresh from killing 20000 children would never blow up more right?

Salivating/euphoric at the thought. But unable to provide any actual reason why.

America hasn’t blamed Iran. Even that nutcase hesgeth said they didn’t know yet. If they believed it was Iran they would be shouting it. They aren’t yet the posters on this thread are. Why?

It kinda does. Obviously he felt strongly enough to send his condolences to the Nazi German ambassador.

Plus how many Jewish refugees did Ireland take in during WW2?

I'm sure there were individual Irish who did fight the Nazis but clearly the leadership felt some sympathyfor their genocdie

As per one of the articles I linked to

On July 9, 1943, newly-elected member of the Irish parliament Oliver Flanagan rose to make his maiden speech.
“There is one thing that Germany did and that was to rout the Jews out of their country,” he declared, saying that Ireland should follow suit. “They crucified our savior 1,900 years ago and they are crucifying us every day of the week.”
No one objected to Flanagan’s words. Certainly, his constituents did not appear unduly concerned. A year later, Flanagan was re-elected to the Dail, Ireland’s lower house of parliament, with twice as many votes as he had previously received.

you keep asking the same questions over and over and over again . “Kinda” isn’t the same as fact .

It is very sad but there is no evidence this was caused by US/. Israeli forces. The evidence points to a failed Iranian rocket launch.

Does it? Why do you say that with such confidence when Pete Hesgeth said only yesterday they were still ‘investigating’.

Those articles are compeltely relevant as to why Ireland didn't take Jewish refugees and point out the rampant antisemitism in Ireland. Not one mentions poverty.

Talk about refusing to face up to reality!

Ireland supported Britain during the war in many ways and lots of Irish people joined the British army during the war. Stop trying to make this into something it isn’t.

Sorry but those articles are of zero relevance to the current situation and do not back up Ireland being nazi “bedfellows “ . Ireland was dirt poor at that time thanks to the UK. Perhaps that was a factor

Israel is also not the chief aggressor.

And absoutely Iran has destroyed those countries. You check your history.

Every country that Israel has attacked has attacked Israel first through Iran's axis of resistance which was intentionalyl set up to slowly destroy and weaken Israel.

If there is a chief agressor, it's Iran with its stated aim to destroy Israel. After having destroyed Syria, Yemen and Iraq.

That's total nonsense but I'm not going to waste my time arguing with you further. Perhaps just look at how many times Bibi has brought out his bomb!
