He's a dick.

If the Iranian people manage to overthrow the Iranian regime then the world hopefully will be a safer place for us. Or perhaps you’d prefer that they continue to buddy up with Russia and China and draw their plans against us? Because that’s what they’re currently doing.

Israel's actions in Gaza and the West Bank are abhorrent and Netanyahu is a war criminal who should be tried for his crimes. Trump is deranged and probably trying to divert attention from the Epstein files.

HOWEVER, despite me believing this, this DOESN'T mean that I'm suddenly, unlike some, going to start wittering on about how Iran was about to sign a peace deal. Because I don't trust the Iranian regime, they're fucking awful and murdered 35,000 of their own people for protesting, murder women for showing their hair, and hang gays from cranes. And I'm happy that Khamenei is dead and that when the Iranian people were begging for Trump's support to overthrow the regime when they were being massacred, some help actually came rather than a pious lecture about international law.

It is extremely noticeable that the same people who vocally condemn Netanyahu and beg for support for Palestinians who are being massacred are now trusting Iran and turning a blind eye to its civilians who are being massacred because it's Israel they love condemning. As if Iran is following international law.

I'm happy that he is dead too. Won't catch me shedding any tears over it. I still don't agree with countries riding roughshod over international law. For me the fact it is Israel doesn't come into it even though it I'm a big supporter of the end of Israels illegal occupation. I just vehemently believe that what we have been seeing, the degradation of International law, the hounding of the International courts, the demonisation of the UN in order to push trumps new 'Board of peace' is leading us down a very, very dangerous path. It's making the world a far less safe place for all of us and people are sleepwalking into it because they love Israel or they hate Iran or don't care a bit about Venuzuala or whatever the excuse du jour to ignore the law is.

The they did it first excuse you are using for Iran is not a valid excuse because next time it might be your leader being assisinated or your kids being blown up at school or your kids being starved of aid and the world will look and shrug because thats the new norm. That's how we treat people now. I won't excuse that because I think Irans regime is bad.

So you think people talking about how awful a man with warrants out for his arrest for war crimes and crimes against humanity is is a bad thing 😕 Oh dear, the poor war criminals having to put up with it when people say hurty things about them. I can see why you are drawn to defend him!

US intelligence said in March of last that Iran are not building a nuclear weapon. Trump says in June last year we've obliterated Irans nuclear programme. You think that people are 'suddenly believing' that Iran isn't weeks away from nuclear weapons because Oman said so?

Your arguments are all over the place. First it was we must protect the poor people of Iran(just Iran mind, the people suffering in the rest of world well they just have to deal with it) International law be damned. Then you are acting like pro Palestinian protesters are the feral war mongerers trying to get their governments to go against international law when that is the exact opposite of what they were doing by asking them to sanction Israel and stop selling weapons that are being used go slaughter children. Now it's nuclear weapons?

I get it. You don't think Israel or Netanyahu should be criticised and will hang onto anything to try and justify that.

I think history will show the world would have been a safer place if they had given Trump the peace prize.

Amusing as it sounds, giving in to bullies rarely ends well.

I know my post makes no sense that was the whole point. America and Israels justifications for breaking international law make no sense, anyone can see that what they are saying doesn't add up. Anyone who wants to that is, others will be too busy being worried about what bad things are being said about war mongerers.

You make no sense. The Iranians don't have nuclear missles anymore than Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. It is just the populist call to arms to say something scary is going to blow you up. There is only one country that has ever used Nuclear Weapons, and it wasn't the Iranians.

Oh I am definitely reading the situation correctly when people rush to a thread to bang on about how terrible Netanyahu is whenever there's the slightest opportunity to do so.

Also, when people who are very clear that Netanyahu is a war criminal who wants to wipe out Palestinians based on his actions and words suddenly start believing that Iran actually isn't that keen on nuclear weapons because they told Oman they aren't. Like, are you serious? You're believing Iran?

Polanski, Corbyn and their merry band of deranged fuckwits, for example.

Agreed, much more likely that the terror threat will rise significantly.

There has been terror in Iran, with significant numbers of civilians killed by the Americans and Israelis. I certainly dont agree or support it, but I can't see why the Iranians would use terrorists attacks in revenge.

We (the UK) didn't do that.

The US did. And Farage and Badenoch would have gone in with Trump this time around. Luckily Starmer is following international law.

Edit - clarity

Edited

Oh we did.

Google "Kermit Roosevelt (Jnr.)"

Just because you don't know, doesn't mean Iranians don't.

MrsFinkelstein · 02/03/2026 15:05

If we didn't want to be a target for Iran, maybe we shouldn't have overthrown their democratic government and installed a repressive dictator.

You see him assassinating another leader as the slightest thing.

It's the International Criminal Court that has issued an arrest warrant for war crimes. It is not a mere opinion. If he isn't guilty he should face the charges in court like any other civilised person would.

War strikes? How much range do you think Iran's drones have?

300 - 600 miles

I don't think you are reading the situation correctly at all. Where have the protests been demanding that the UK government or any other government go and assasinate Netanyahu and start dropping bombs all over Israel? There's a huge difference between stop the sales of arms and go blow shit up!!

The “Iranian people”

Makes as much sense - or is as insulting - as saying "The British People".

Araminta1003 · 02/03/2026 14:10

“But if Iranians are celebrating the murder of their Supreme Leader, then perhaps it wasn't an entirely bad thing.”

Not just that, there must have been people in Iran helping Israel/the US to get him in the first place, possibly even within the Revolutionary Guard. Who knows, we certainly won’t know everything.
The “Iranian people” will be as divided as we are here about the Tories/Labour/Green/Reform etc and the US is about Trump and this war itself.

We can sit here speculating and thinking Trump went for it because he got away with it in Venezuela and is gambling, but none of us actually know what is going on and what is real and what is not and what is purposefully faked or not. We do not even know what US may already have agreed with China or Russia or India or not agreed etc etc.

I just think people are picking and choosing which mass murders to be shocked, outraged and demanding international action over.

I suspect there's only any interest in what's going on in Iran now that Israel is involved.

So it's ok to break international law and put the whole world at risk on the off chance you might possibly be helping the Iranian people? Because let's face it historically foreign countries over throwing regimes hasnt quite protected people has it. Where's next? Are you up for blowing up Sudan, they are suffering terribly. North Korea have you heard what is happening there? Blow that up too. China? Blow it up. Mexico? Blow it up. Palestians are suffering terribly are we blowing up Israel too?

Do you not see how dumb a strategy that is? How does that make people safer?

People who have been insisting that we must step in to prevent the murder of Palestinian people now insist that international law means we absolutely shouldn't do anything about the murder of Iranians.

People weren't suggesting that we go and assinate Netanyahu and drop bombs on Israels military ffs. They were talking about legal means, acting within International law, stopping arms sales, imposing sanctions, arresting war criminals. Not acting like feral war mongerers and toppling Israels governments.

Tell that to the British service personnel on Akrotiri base.
We have always been a target for Iran and it's only distance that's stopped them. Although they do keep trying to carry out terror attacks.

I don't see why we are going anything. Every anti drone missile we fire costs us over £300,000.

We should not be associating ourselves with US/Israeli war mongering. Imagine the US outrage if the Iranian's had assassinated Trump.

Yes i don't think anyone has said that it is good to murder protesters have they? Are people defending that because all I have seen is people defending the degradation of the laws that are in place to protect sovereign countries and the lives and dignity of people. Israel is being ran by man who has warrants out for his arrest for war crimes, it has just broken international law again, started an illegal war and you are worried that people are 'bleating Israel bad'? Why would it worry you that people are criticising this behaviour?

Celebrate war if you like. I'm pretty anti war in most circumstances. Iran having nuclear weapons is just the same weapons of mass destruction lie the US used when they wanted to get Iraqi oil. You can tell it is lies because it was only a few month ago Netanyahu and Trump when on their last bombing jolly and said they had set back the programme decades.

No but you just don't understand weeks and decades. Iran have been weeks away from having nuclear weapon for decades and now they are decades away from having nuclear weapons for weeks or something like that.....
