To think it will be revealed WLI cause physical aging

Obviously the pictures of Kelly Osbourne are both sad and terrifying.

But a few women i know have also used this method for weight loss and their skin has lost elasticity. They look at least 10 years older. Is this side effect being under played?

it looks more like extreme buccal facial lipo not (just) ozempic. Super thin women, even those dealing with anorexia don't necessarily have skeletal faces until they're really seriously unwell. Think of Victoria Beckham, she's been teeny tiny but never looked quite like that although obviously everyone loses fat in different places.

VB also has a lot of facial filler though TBF

I have lost over 7 stones on WLI with still around 4-5 stones to go.

Without a doubt I look older than I did but that is because I have lost the weight which was puffing out my skin. I dont look old for my age, I am looking my age (59).

Internally I will have lost a lot of fat which will have surrounded my organs. This is a good thing.

Beautifulhaiku · 02/03/2026 07:38

Just to understand the question properly, what do you mean by physical aging?

Skin sagging or looking gaunt is common for any method of weight loss where a significant amount of weight is lost. It isn’t an indicator of other ‘aging’ happening within the body.

Effects on internal organs can be measured by blood tests etc so they would be well known about already.

They might still be learning about very long term effects but the Osbournes/most other celebs wouldn’t have been on it for long enough yet to get those anyway.

3flyingducksarrive · 02/03/2026 07:37

Where are all these people getting WLI?

TheBlueKoala · 02/03/2026 07:36

@Tuliptana Kelly Osborne and other celebrities aren't using wli as intended- they are using it while being underweight which is not recimmanded. I am convinced that wli used when obese will definitely not make you age more rapidly- quite the contrary.

Pinklightning · 02/03/2026 07:36

Hard hat time OP.

Personally I’m happy with looking a bit older rather than the risks associated with being clinically obese. I’ve lost over 4 stone but still have a bmi of 30 so don’t look gaunt in any way but definitely feel younger.

So basically I’m happy to take my chances. Yes there will always be people taking things too far but that’s not the case with 95% of the general population taking WLIs. I think the surgeries have also played a big part in how some celebrities look.

I have to disagree sadly. Women and young girls are taking them to lose the odd 1 or 2 stone. This is what im talking about not for the clinically obese.
If they were not designed for people under a certain BMI, could this be the dangerous side effect?

Absolutely ridiculous
The body is aged through mechanical pressure on the joints, pressure on the heart and other organs and inflammation of all parts of the system which are all effects of obesity.
Kelly Osbourne has had the fat carved out of her face and then lost weight since - no evidence that she is still using WLI - more likely she has an eating disorder exacerbated by grief.
Facial elasticity is lost as we age and when we lose fat the face can often look droopy for a time but it does recover to an extent (depending on age and genetics) so those people who's faces look droopy now will not look the same in a year's time. However their bodies will be far healthier than they were when they were obese, and ageing less rapidly.
It's amazing how people see signs of visible weight loss as ageing but don't see the obesity as ageing in itself which is far worse than 'looking' older in the face for real longevity and health.

Not really sure because the facial changes in WLI are extremely distinct and noticeable. It looks like cachexia in end stage cancer or HIV patients. The very distinct cheek hollow and sagging skin is almost a sort of "uncanny valley" effect because humans are evolutionarily wired to feel worried or repulsed by faces that display signs of serious illness or impending death.

A lot of WLI with cachexia face weren't even that overweight to begin with so it can't be just due to skin shrinking too quickly. It's almost like the fat dissolved completely in areas that traditional weight loss methods don't affect as much.

I agree. I know a lot of people who have lost large amounts of weight prior to WLI being available and absolutely none of them have that Ozempic face look. It's a very distinctive unhealthy look that seems unique to WLI. I have also heard dermatologists and plastic surgeons say that it changes the structure of how your fat/collagen behaves.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 02/03/2026 07:33

I hadn't really considered that rapid weight loss from WLI isn't removing fat alone. That's pretty scary on top of the thought of pancreas damage.

I wouldn't touch them.

Dollymylove · 02/03/2026 07:33

Maybe not yet, but jn a few years time, watch all the courts cases start rolling in....

EmeraldShamrock000 · 02/03/2026 07:32

It truly is face or ass over 40.
i am slim. My Dsis is overweight, she is 2 years younger than me but I look older in the face. “There is no wrinkles on a balloon” says Eamonn Holmes.

dieters face is a well known side effect - of dieting

User567573 · 02/03/2026 07:29

Wordsmithery · 02/03/2026 07:22

Well it's not really a side effect of WLI. It's an effect of weight loss, especially rapid weight loss.
And, for me at least, the issue with the Osbournes is not the weight loss but the huge amount of invasive surgeries that have left both of them looking like caricatures of human beings.
I do hope this isn't going to turn into a thread that bashes women who use WLI.

SemperIdem · 02/03/2026 07:28

I don’t think it is WLI per se. It is extreme weight loss that is ageing. Kelly and Sharon Osbourne have quite clearly gone beyond what would be considered healthy weight loss and have seemingly done so very quickly.

The people I know who have used WLI look great and are much healthier. ( I am not on them) Obviously the Osbournes have overdone it and also filled their faces with filler.

Shortpoet · 02/03/2026 07:28

All weight loss will do that. I just read that KO had a gastric band rather than WLI though. Is she said to have used both?

It also looks like KO has had fat removed from below her cheeks through plastic surgery which IMO makes you look older, not sculpted. Not sure why that is such a popular procedure.

Tuliptana · 02/03/2026 07:21

Yes but its not just a 'bit older' its drastic aging which makes you wonder what its doing to internal organs. It seems more profound in women who were not obese to start with but used them anyway.
I guess it could be lack of nutrition or dehydration but the effects are scary.

I agree - I know 2 people who have gone down this route- they were hardy big to start with - certainly not obese at all- maybe just a few pounds of padding. They both look so much older - some how shrunken, tired and unwell. They do not look healthy

That’s quite a leap.
No fat in gas stretching out the wrinkles = internal organ damage

Its really not. Each to their own. I just think its becoming more apparent.
