How would you rate your life?

I’ve just done a “life audit” and entered it into Chat GPT 🙈 Chat GPT wouldn’t rate my life out of 10 but Gemini AI gave me 7.5 out of 10 (scoring lower due to going through a separation/divorce which hasn’t been amicable and lots of difficulties around co-parenting. Sandwich generation too so elderly parents and children to care for, plus one disabled child)

So things like -
Money
Work
Relationships
Friendships
Health
Hobbies
Travel
Home
Children etc
Family
Personal progression and studies

How would you rate your life?

I am 45, slim, healthy, I have a nice home and a job I enjoy, I have friends to do fun stuff with, my personal life is a car crash though 🙈

I love my life- I have great friends and family.

My health has taken a nosedive over the last 10 years though, and I am in constant pain. I still try to do the things I used to, but it takes me days to recover.

I don’t want to mark my life down because of that though!

Funkysparrowdotcom · 28/02/2026 23:14

ForAmusedHazelQuoter · 28/02/2026 23:20

8.5

No money worries
Nice DH and DC
good friends
hobbies and interests and have fun weekends
lots of holidays
I love my house
I like living in the UK

I do worry about disabled adult DC and how he will manage when I’m gone.

Great husband, adore and enjoy my kids, totally unstable/unpredictable freelance work in dying industry but no mortgage to worry about because we paid it off; tend to be a bit anxious & sensitive & volatile, worry lot about friendships & family-of-origin relationships; like how I look generally & don't mind ageing but have annoying menopause symptoms & complete overwhelm about trying to work out how to treat them via a recalcitrant & unhelpful GP surgery. I know I'd feel many percent better if I did a few percent more exercise, but I get in my own way with that. I gave up alcohol almost a decade ago and am permanently glad I did that- but I still smoke, lightly, and loathe myself for that failing. Generally I find myself quite hard work on the inside - but I enjoy most of most days and have a lot of gratitude for my immediate family. I used to have a much more shiny, glamorous and well-paid professional life, but it made me extremely stressed unhappy and drunk, so I remind myself of that when I feel poor, obscure and messy...!

On paper my life looks great but I struggle to appreciate it sometimes due to being busy and tired having a toddler and a FT job. I saw a quote the other day that resonated: "What a privilege, to be exhausted by the life you dreamed for yourself".

  • Money - no financial worries.
  • Work - in-house solicitor in an interesting field, supportive colleagues, ability to WFH 3/4 days a week.
  • Relationships - happily married, together since 18.
  • Friendships - several groups of friends from various life stages and a small number of close friends. Drifting from some friends due to kids/distance etc.
  • Health - no major concerns, but generally a bit run down and catch a lot of colds that DS brings home from nursery.
  • Hobbies - I have a few hobbies I enjoy and try to make time for (running, yoga, reading).
  • Travel - have been lucky enough to do some amazing far-flung travels pre-baby (New Zealand, Vietnam, South Africa etc...), current lifestage is more UK trips or Spanish/Greek island resorts which I also appreciate.
  • Home - love our modern and spacious home which we moved into last year, only 29 years left on the mortgage....
  • Children - one gorgeous DS who is nearly 2, unsure if I could cope physically and emotionally with a second child but have always pictured having 2 children.
  • Family - small family, good relationships but live several hours away so see each other every 3 months or so.
  • Personal progression and studies - career is in a good place due to a lot of hard work and long hours in my 20s, but progression will be on the back-burner for the next 10 years while DS is in primary school.

8/10

I found it super interesting to put it into Gemini. Which gave me a lower score than u hoped for!!! But the process - and the score - helped me to reflect on what could be improved.

What score did you get?

Sorry @Hellokitty1986tgats a terrible hand you’ve been dealt.

mm my score on paper should be high but I’m reflecting I’m maybe a pessimist.

relationship - DH loves me to bits but I’m less loving to him. Married about 27 years. He’s very kind.

Family- 2 daughters. 1 has had severe struggles with mh but she’s coming through it and loving uni.

Wider family- lost my brother to suicide in 2021. It crushed me and daughters and we still struggle.

home- nice big house. 5 years left on mortgage.

work- nice career as uni lecturer. I’m wanting to retire soon though so not really getting as much satisfaction from it as I could.

friends- yes I’ve got some lovely close friends that I see regularly.

money- I earn a decent salary but would like more savings. Not sure why I’ve been crap at that. Pensions are good though .

i think I should probably rate it 8-9 but I actually feel it’s 7. That’s my personality coming through I think.

WorstPaceScenario · 03/03/2026 16:09

I just tried running it through Gemini and it gave me 46/50 (I think - maths iosnt my strong point!)

Health
8.0
Elite fitness, but the "tiredness" is a persistent tax.
Relationships
9.0
High stability/love; just a desire for more physical intimacy.
Hustle
10.0
Total autonomy, intellectual growth, and zero ego-traps.
Finances
8.5
High equity/pensions; just needs a bit more liquid "buffer."
Mindset
10.0
Post-traumatic growth at its finest. You are "delighted" with your life.

About 3. But feel even more depressed reading this thread.

FlowerFairyDaisy · 03/03/2026 16:32

10/10 all the time that everyone I love is safe, happy and healthy.

DancingLions · 03/03/2026 16:40

Money - pretty ok. Not rich but comfortable
Work - good. Wfh full time (love it) low stress, relatively well paid
Relationships - single and happy with that.
Friendships - don't have many but don't want many! So absolutely fine with that.
Health - could be better, could be worse
Hobbies - perfect! I have lots of fun hobbies and plenty of time to do them
Travel - all good, have some nice trips planned
Home - love my home so much. It is perfect for me
Children - they're adults and we have a great relationship, all good.
Family - well my wider family is mostly awful so not great in that area. But I came to terms with that a long time ago
Progression/studies - I'm late 50s. No desire to progress further at work. Any study I do is for fun. Fine with that.

I would give myself a solid 9. Nothing I want to change about my life. Probably the 1 point comes from the fact my health could be a bit better.

SlipperyGhost · 03/03/2026 15:53

What score did you get?

7.5 - I think I dwelled on negatives (minor health complaints and work stressors). I got 9 or 10 in some areas but very low marks in others. I don’t think AI is good at assessing the human condition!!!!

Jackiepumpkinhead · 03/03/2026 17:46

Probably a 10, although I dislike saying that as I don’t like to tempt fate! Although many wouldn’t like my life at all.

Single and child free by choice, I have a wonderful little dog who I adore
In very good health (recently had a health MOT)
Amazing and supportive healthy family
Small and wonderful group of friends
A beautiful home in a relatively safe location, surrounded by countryside
Good job with decent pay
New car

A good balance of everything and I count my lucky stars everyday. I’m also aware that life can change in a blink of an eye, so I’m always grateful.

Hope you feel better today @MrFluffyDogIsMyBestFriend
im fascinated by these threads but parts of my life aren’t the way I’d like either including my health.

BustPipes · 04/03/2026 23:41

I find it strange that anyone would 'rate their life''.
This is it guys - your one run round the track, your one flight, your one breath in breath out.
You don't get to pick another Airbnb next time you visit.

HollyhockDays · 05/03/2026 00:30

That’s hard. I’d love to embrace life and be joyful but I can’t. I worry about money and illness and the kids too much. I’ve not got many friends and that gets me down a bit. I try to find joy in small things. I’m 55 but I feel like nothing exciting will ever happen to me. Plodding along.

Everynamehasgone99 · 05/03/2026 04:59

10/10 because I love my life! I am so grateful for everything.
